I think I remember reading somewhere that the narration was added lade in production. I'm not exactly sure why, but I guess with all the scenes they ended up cutting, they figured the narration could work as a sort of plot-glue, keeping the scenes connected.

But even so, I don't know if it's actually needed. If it adds much. I would love to see a version of the movie with the narration removed. I like the idea of the visuals itself and the incredibly expressive characters driving the story.

What do you guys think? Do you think the movie would have worked without the narration? And if not, what about the original cut?

General Land Before Time / Any good LBT podcasts or YouTube channels?
« on: September 09, 2021, 02:14:18 AM »
Mind you, it doesn't have to be a channel dedicated to only Land Before Time. But what I'm looking for are content creators sharing their thoughts on the original movie and their sequel. You know, lengthy, thoughtful and intelligent reviews of the movies and their themes and such! Been really obsessed with LBT lately and having some reviews/discussions to listen while I do other things would be neat.

Most reviews I've found on YouTubers are fairly low-effort and seem to consist of the uploader mostly just clowning on the films because angry youtube reviews are really popular for some reason. I'm aware of The LBT Squad but he doesn't as much review the films as going through the plot-points one by one.

Lastly, I've discovered a pretty okay podcast called Land Before Time Land.  Like aforementioned YouTube-reviews, the selling point here is mostly just a bunch of guys going through the movies one by one and pointing out how stupid they are. HOWEVER, it's well produced, the reviews are long and detailed (about an hour per episode), the criticism is mostly good faith and the guys are genuinely funny. And it's clear that most of the critique is coming from a love that they all have for the original by Don Bluth.

Anyway, I found the podcast by chance and I have to imagine that there are other content creators that are or have produced LBT related content. The movies were really popular after all. Would be real grateful for some recommendations!

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / Is the TV series on YouTube now?
« on: August 29, 2021, 08:43:22 AM »
So I’ve been trying to find somewhere to stream the tv series with no success. Seems like it’s just not available in my region.

Then I found all the episodes on YouTube under that official Land Before Time channel. We’re they all there freely available all along?? I’m checking out the first episode and it seems to have the same name as the one listed on IMDB.

I noticed it didn’t have the intro though. Which is a shame because that intro is rad. Can anyone verify if this is the same?

The Welcome Center / Heyyo! So glad this forum exists!
« on: August 08, 2021, 10:44:36 AM »
So it's only thanks to  Jenny Nicholson's video about the Land Before Time sequels I even know this forum exists. But I'm glad it does! I freaking loved the LBT movies as a kid, but i was never able to find much of a fandom presence on the typical places (Discord, Reddit etc). So to find that there is still an LBT community online, alive and kicking after all this time, well it's fantastic. Like discovering a land before time. Heh. Anyway, I recently rewatched of the movies and found to my surprise that they hold up remarkably well (with a few exceptions). Can't wait to share my weird ass takes and lengthy analysis because wow, there is a lot to say about these movies!
