Found this book from the release year on the finnish "ebay", some kind of package originally supplied with a audio cassette. I bidded it, lets see what it holds
After 5th, then 9th was a pleasant surprise, the sharptooth actually is closest to the original in this one. 13th of course being completely in its own league with it's crappiness.
LBT definitely deserves a proper anniversary release. 2003 release was a complete total fail, don bluth was willing to cooperate but they couldn't bother, just slapped those kiddie games on the disc and called it a day.
It's the theatre version. He saw it when he was six years old. THe sharptooth had scars over his body. I can only take what he said. it played in Norway during the year 1989. That's all I have. I mean both of them were bleeding. There was more voilence and actual blood in the fight scenes. And lava shown in the theatre version during the fight scene. I only explaining the earthquake and the fight scene. Sharptooth originally had scars over his body in the Theatre version and he got more for fighting littlefoots mother.
That should be relatively easy to find out. In Finland we at least have a national movie archive with original theatrical copies of the movies stored and you can go watch them.
I think you have better luck asking for a bluray anniversary release with donbluth extras. It's sad that he said he would have gladly helped with it and give some extra clips and other stuff for the 2003 release but they didn't even ask him, just slapped some kid stuff on it.

I am hoping for this to be an opportunity for the missing scenes that were only shown in theaters back in 1988 to be brought back to the audiences. For our years of loyal support, we deserve them.
However, seeing what Universal has done lately, I don't know if I can trust them to do that.
The deleted footage from original 1988 movie was never aired in cinemas because it was trimmed from the final cut and left on the cutting room floor (as the saying goes). The additional scenes we know of were included in trailers prior to the movie's release and removed before it was officially released in cinemas. I highly doubt you've find anything new being shown seeing as we already know that the footage in question was never archived. Despite our loyalty, I doubt Universal feel they owe one iota for a series they are done and dusted with.
Still, would be great to see LBT back up in cinemas. Given the opportunity, I'd be first in line to relive that feeling again.
But it could have the shaprtooth fight without extra trimming.
Edit: tossu has the channels on antenna, so he can't see any airings from the channel before 8pm and it always airs well before 6... And since it highly likely is a new HD widescreen version theres no sense in making any investments here... gotta just wait for airing on the main channel.

Okay, I just noticed wikipedia's summary now contains the line, "Cera reunites with her father (but not her mother and sisters, who appear to have died en route)". (Here's the link to prove it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Land_Before_Time)
I think that's really sad not just cause Cera lost most of her family but that it also really taints an otherwise overly happy ending (one of Bluth's favorite tropes).
keyword appear, someone just put his speculation there.
Another airing coming up on the 24th this month...
And apparently it would be highly possible to salvage at least some kind of image from the tape (even multiple times overrecorded tapes are possible), but that requires professional equipment and of course any professional service isn't going to take a tape that contains a TV recording
Only things I can really remember being scary are from 1st movie... sharptooth surprising ducky in the final battle, sharptooth chasing the gang to the little hole in the cliff, parts from the first sharptooth encounter, and most notably I have a memory stuck deep of being very startled by this exact scene:
Another startling memory is from sharptooth sniffing air somewhere far in the distance (somehow connected to around the scene when they sleep the first night?) and someone saying "it can't smell us from all the way here" or something. Could be why there are trims around that scene, but I can't really pinpoint how and where this would exactly be connected in the regular cut.
Or actually! Could be when Cera wakes up to the sound of sharptooth, and i'm mixing it up with littlefoot saying there is no sharptooth which is in the regular cut scene when Cera scares others.
I even believe that the rumor is true because there are so many signs of it.
First Littlefoot in depression, then his mother's ghost appears to guide him, then a tunnel that leads him to paradise and finally the changing of environment in colour and the final quote by Littlefoot.
Because of these reasons i believe the rumor is true even if Don Bluth has forbidden it.
But that wouldn't make sense because in the original order of scenes the mothers ghost appears earlier in the movie.
The early preview screenings for the press were 80 minutes if Washington Post doesn't lie. But the biggest cuts were decided before that when the scenes were not even colored...
I just noticed it yesterday. don't have the channels so I don't follow them except searching the TV schedule now and then, and the movie never showed up in regular search like the sequels.
At least they have the rights now... I'm ready to capture it when it airs on the regular channel.
The movie has aired yesterday on one of the movie subscription channels of the original TV company I contacted! Did anyone of the Finnish members here see it?
Are you watching the DVD? They definitely messed up the colours/contrast for many scenes in that one. Like the opening sequence you can't see anything compared to original VHS copies.
Where is the scene with Rooter extended? It is the same as in the movie. Instead this part is shorter because the following animation with the little flyers is missing.
I am not sure about the end. In the book they huge each other, then they enter the valley and finally Littlefoot talks a last time with his mother.
The scene was actually after spikes birth, not the ending:
It supposedly has a picture about the scene not shown here too.
"On the following page, there is a scene that was not in the movie. In this picture, the quintet of five dinosaurs is gazing around a barren land at dusk after having walked through a tunnel. There is no specific caption for the picture except Cera is in wonder as to when they will find the Great Valley."
Then you mean extended birth scene of Spike and not extended Rooter scene.
And the picture on that page is from the movie when they are all together in the valley after Littlefoot calls the others (You can see it also on the cover of that book). There is no picture of a deleted scene, the images from the movie are only a bit mixed up in that book.
No for the rooter scene I mean the missing narrator line at the end of the scene.
