Hi,
these days I found out that the page I have been using so far to host the slide presentations of my history courses for my students to download is going to delete the respective files since media fire is a temporary service. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a page where files can be hosted long term. Is there a place where such slide presentations can be hosted free and permanently without the requirement for my students to create an account in order to have access to the files?

What do you mean MediaFire is temporary? I've had files up on there for quite some time and there's no time limit.

How about I do a service for you, Malte?  I currently have a Paid Pro Account for Mediafire.  As such, I can create a Dropbox Folder just for you to upload your files into.  You and your students will be able to download from it anytime you wish.

On top of that, the files will stay for as long as I have my account. (With how things are going, it'll last until after I die.)

So, if you are willing, PM me and I can set you up. :)

Mediafire isn't limited? I'm pretty sure files don't expire from there. I've had an account on there since 2009 (just free) and the files are still on there.

Dropbox is an alternative. Simple program with which you can share files with anyone else who has dropbox. But that would mean that your students would have to get dropbox as well...

Okay, I am officially getting senile :slap
That mail I received was not from mediafire at all, but rather from rapidshare and I had totally forgotten that back when I created the mediafire account as well I had created that rapidshare account from which I got the mails today. Yeah, reading a mail thoroughly and to the end really can spare you some embarassment    :oops
