Title: BattleBots
Post by: The Chronicler on June 06, 2019, 11:00:17 PM
Has anyone here ever seen BattleBots? Basically, it's a tournament where remote-controlled robots battle in an arena to destroy each other. You might remember its original run back in the early 2000s, but was later brought back for two seasons in 2015 and 2016 (I forget which channel it was), then after skipping a year, its third season last year was shown on both the Discovery and Science channels. And now, the fourth season is about to begin, Fridays on Discovery (starting tomorrow), then shown again on the following Wednesdays on Science (if this follows the style of the previous season, then the version that will be shown later on Science will include bonus content not seen on the version on Discovery).

Is anyone else here interested in watching this? I know I certainly am.

I remeber Battlebots. I even had ones you coukd get at the store and buy cards to make them more powerful in battle. The TV show was like “Forged” and mayhem combined. It kinda died out though or at least I haven’t seenc them on any channels of late.,

I didn't have time to mention this earlier, but the current season of BattleBots has finally started (no doubt delayed several months due to covid), and new episodes will be shown on Discovery every Thursday night. I saw the first episode just a few days ago, and I must say that not only do I continue to enjoy seeing the return of some old favorites, but I'm also impressed by some of the newer bots that have been introduced this season.

The final episode of the season was on tonight, and I just finished watching it. This was definitely a fun season to watch, with quite a lot of unexpected outcomes. If you haven't seen it yet, then I would highly recommend checking it out.

I think I should mention that, thanks to the recently introduced streaming service "Discovery+" (only $5 per month), it's now possible to watch every episode of the past five seasons of BattleBots whenever you want. In addition, there's a special new BattleBots series available exclusively on Discovery+, called "Bounty Hunters", which is basically a series of mini tournaments where lesser bots compete for a chance to face off against one of the more popular and/or destructive bots, and if they can triumph over all of that, they win a small cash prize.

I don't yet have Discovery+, but I certainly intend to get it sometime soon, and once I do, I will definitely be checking out the BattleBots Bounty Hunters episodes.
