Title: Where can I find downloads of LBT TV?
Post by: Manny Cav on July 16, 2007, 07:04:37 PM
I'm a US viewer and I've missed out on the Canadian releases. I've searched high and low here. The yousendit links are obviously expired, and the links where they are supposedly for download are dead. And I've also came across a few dead FileFront links here (http://www.freewebs.com/landbeforetimelover/tvseriesdownloads.htm). I'm currently downloading one of few that actually worked. Can some one give me some links to some?

landbeforetimelover, one of our fellow members, has created an LBT website with links to many of the episodes.  His site can be found here:
http://www.landbeforetime.co.nr/ (http://www.landbeforetime.co.nr/)

[EDIT]
Hmm...it seems these links aren't working.  Landbeforetimelover, do you know why your links don't seem to be working?  Some work, some don't.

They aren't working? That's odd.

I can't even get the site to load.  Austin usually comes on pretty late for us East Coasters.

Hey. Filefront isn't recognizing my files anymore.  They "Lost" them.  Just screw it.  I'm putting them all on a new server box.  Filefront is horrible.  I'm restoring the files, but I've been gone for a long time and will be gone tomorrow as well.  I'll try to restore the eps asap, but It might be a while.

I have now set up the server box where I can put all the tv eps.  I'm uploading them now.  The link to this new server box is on my site now if ya wanna look.  I only have 2 of them on there now.  I'm gonna just forget filefront and just have this server box.  I'll try to get the rest of them up asap. ;)

*praying to god*  I hope 4shared doesnt say that the tv eps are "pirated" material.  If they do, I'll have to try something else.  <_<

As for my actual site not working, that's on your end Petrie.  It works fine for me and everyone else.  The links just no longer work.  Freewebs is putting a lot of ad's on my site.  It's making it take a long time to load. :(  Even for me, it takes almost 4 seconds and I have a 20mbps internet connection!  I'm sure it's very unpleasant for those of you with a more "normal" internet connection.

It's just cuz I'm a midnight kinda guy!   I get up at about 2pm and go to bed at maybe 5-6am.  Hey, It's summer!  I'm allowed to do that arn't I?

Yeah well once filefont found out what they were, what do you think they did with them?  And the ads could be the reason the page didn't want to load well.

Okay, I need serious help here. I downloaded "The Spooky Nighttime Adventure". The download completed, and I compared the bytes of the downloaded file on my computer with the one on the virtual drive, or whatever. They were equal. Now, when I play the file, it says "Acquiring codec..." for a second or two, then it says "Codec acquired". The video starts up with audio only, and there's a red x next to the file title. Any ideas why I'm not getting ant video?

I believe you need to download DivX.

The video player or the codec? And does it have to be the pro or trial version?

Regardless, I found a way around this issue. I messed around with a copy of the file using video converting software I have. I got the video to work, but my "messing around" hiked up the file size from 36.8 MB to 91.7 MB. I'm probably going to want this codec or whatever in the end, anyway.

You will never need a codec with this player. ;)  If its too rough around the edges, you can try out The KMPlayer but there is a lot of stuff to wade through in that one.  Both will work flawlessly.

^^^Like he said.  VLC media player is the best media playing software I've ever seen that's free.   ;) WMP sucks pretty bad.  That's why I have version 9 still.  I see no reason to upgrade.

I did use version 11 for a while.  It was okay.  Significantly better than version 9, but compared to VLC media player, there's no comparison.

I used to use WinAMP when we used the old 4 GB computer, but I didn't like the new version that came out cause it was too confusing, so I moved over to Windows Media Player. I like it because it's more organized than other players I've seen.

I'm still an avid Winamp user.  Call me insane, I just like it. :p

VLC has bailed me out countless times though, when Winamp isn't happy with a certain file.

Okay... I downloaded the episodes I needed off of that virtual drive. However, I'm still short 5 episodes. They are:Now, I shall mention that the FileFront downloads for "Search for the Sky Color Stones" and "Return to Hanging Rock" appeared to still be active. However, those files are way too big for me to download (I'm on rotten dial-up). There's a chance I would be able to download the Sky Color one if I "hit it just right" (not an easy task, I assure you), but the Hanging Rock one is completely out of my league -- for now. Can someone help me, if not with those two, with the other three?

Dialup?  OUCH!!!!!!!

Anyways, I haven't gotten around to putting them on yet.  It's hard to compress them and I don't wanna do it yet ti'll I'm sure they arn't gonna ban me for uploading what they consider to be "Pirated Content".  I'll get around to it soon.  I have every one except "march of the sand creepers".  No one has it anywhere on the net.  All of us here really wanna see it, including me.  I'll try to get the ep's into the server box asap.  just keep looking for them.  They'll be there soon!

EDIT:  It may be a while ti'll I can get them on.  It takes about 45 minutes to compress the ep's and 30 minutes to upload them onto the server box.  That's per episode, so I'll try to get it up tonight, but I'm not making any promises.  It's 10pm here now.

Hmm... I really don't do much "torrent raiding". I prefer to stay away from that, as I consider it a very last and desperate measure. But if need be, I've got FlashGet to handle them. I'm assuming you also mean that not even the torrent sites have "March of the Sand Creepers". I might be messed up on that one. I sure hope not, though.

okay.  I have them all on there except for the sand creepers one cuz I don't have it and the sky colored stone one, which I'm uploading right now.  Expect it in 10 minutes or less.  I hope this helps.

LOL.  It takes me less than 4 minutes to download them.  Why don't you pay a little extra and get some decent internet?  Heck verizon online dsl is 782kps (sucks but it's better than dialup) and it's only $21.  If you have AOL, you're already paying more than that for 4kps.

The broadband dish just arrived via UPS. They said they'd send someone by to hook everything up. I only pray (yes, I do take LBT just a little more seriously than the average fan my age) they keep their word.... Anyway, I'm going to be firing up another download soon, so I'll be gone for another few hours.

I was paying $25 a month for AOL.  I got 4kps download, 1kps upload.  It was the worst service ever.  I had to upgrade so I went from 4kps to 12000kps.  MUCH better!

*bumps thread8 Can someone tell me if the 250 MB "high quality" episodes are compressed in Divx AVI format or not (where conventional video players can't play them, i.e. WMP, and you need the Divx player to play them)? Because I've been thinking about "upgrading" just to escape that, but I'm not going to hike the file size up like that if it means the same old thing.

As far as I knew, everything we've been doing here is in .avi format, compressed with dvix.  Just go download the filter from the divx website and then those files will work no matter what player you use.

Erm... I wasn't talking about the 40 MB compressed ones commonly distributed among the community here. I was talking about the original 250 MB "high-quality" ones commonly found on torrent sites.
Title: Where can I find downloads of LBT TV?
Post by: Petrie. on September 24, 2007, 07:41:02 PM
I imagine they're the same.  Just about any movie torrent I've seen is divx compression and it fits a 700mb cd.  Like I said, all you need is the divx filter from the main website and you're set for any divx film on any video player.

Ooookay. Does anyone here that actually has the "high-quality" 200-250 MB LBT TV episode files from the torrent sites know whether Divx is required to view them or not?

I have all the LBT tv eps in full quality.  I only compressed them cuz my server box has a 50mb file upload limit.  I never use divx player anymore.  I just use the codec.  Try VLC media player.  It'll play them like a charm ;)

Whenever I play the low quality files (or any video file compressed with the Divx codec), whenever I skip from one part of the video to another, it gets all garbled up, and pieces of the original frame stick to the viewing area for a while, which is the chief reason I despise Divx. This does not happen to me with normal AVI files.
Title: Where can I find downloads of LBT TV?

the AVI is damaged.  You need to convert it to avi using a converter.  that should fix it.
Title: Where can I find downloads of LBT TV?

It's the AVIs I downloaded off of your site (and others, as well, including those I made myself). It happens to every single Divx encoded AVI file I download. I highly doubt they're "damaged".
Title: Where can I find downloads of LBT TV?
Post by: landbeforetimelover on September 25, 2007, 03:25:36 AM
They most likely are damaged.  You're on dial-up.  Whenever I get a file that garbles up when ya skip, it's been damaged during transfer.  It is very easy for a video to become damaged when being downloaded especially on dial-up.  When I had dial-up, almost all my videos had to be repaired.  It doesn't happen very often now that I have high speed, but It still does occationaly.  I'd try "allok video joiner".  It'll fix almost anything and ya don't have to join the files.

Sooo... the answer to my question is?

1.) Go here (http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/codec/) and grab the divx codec

2.) Or go here (http://www.videolan.org) and grab VLC media player to play those avi files.

No matter what, just about every single avi file is a container for a divx compressed video.  You can put others in but I've never seen it done.  You'll have to do one of these.
Title: Where can I find downloads of LBT TV?
Post by: Manny Cav on September 25, 2007, 09:31:33 AM
The problem with you're dial-up theory is that I downloaded most of the episodes I didn't download off of dial-up on broadband. And, besides, this just doesn't happen to Divx encoded videos I download, it also happens to Divx encoded videos I make myself.

And the fact that it only happens exclusively to Divx encoded videos is also strange.

I don't think you understood my initial question. I want to know are the high-quality 250 MB AVI files of the episodes of LBT TV that are on the torrent sites Divx compressed? An AVI file that isn't Divx compressed will play in Windows Media Player normally; an AVI file that has been Divx compressed will not play in Windows Media Player.
Title: Where can I find downloads of LBT TV?
Post by: landbeforetimelover on September 25, 2007, 07:14:12 PM
Yes they are.  Who uses anything else?  Most other encoding methods make the videos that are 100mb in divx to become many gigabytes (thousands of megabytes) in size.  It's not that much increase in quality too.

Then I don't know...I don't like the series enough to download it, let alone high quality versions.  I said earlier that while you could (in theory) put any type of video codec in an AVI container, nobody does anything else except divx, so you have to download the filter.  Or get VLC and forget the pos that is Windows Media Player.

The only other time I have seen anything else is if its XviD or MJPEG....neither of which are exactly common or typical.

My last piece of advice, if WMP isn't cutting it and can't play whatever you desperately want to see, why not find some alternative that can play it?  Why struggle with software that isn't natively made to handle that file type?  Save yourself the hassle.

I'm done here.

Playing the files aren't necessarily a problem. When I mentioned this before, I was directed to download Divx. Being on dial-up, I really didn't want to, and then, I remembered that another video player came with this "Total Video Converter" software I had -- Total Video Player. It actually played the Divx encoded files, but it had the forementioned garbled screen problems when one re-selects a position that wasn't present when playing regular AVI files with TVP. However, I suspect it's the video player causing the problems. Regardless, I can play the files, I just find it an inconvenience to have to resort to other video players than my "all-in-one" to play files that won't even play 100% right in the first place.

Oh, well. Can someone give me easy links to better quality episodes, like 250MB instead of 40MB? Most of the torrents that others like landbeforetimelover speaks of are poorly seeded and don't download very well, or sometimes not at all. I know DarkHououmon sent me a few PMs with FileFront links, but I didn't have broadband then, and I deleted all of my older PMs.

And if anyone is curious about the video playing problem, the issue was exactly what I thought it was. The videos were never damaged, it was just the sorry video player I was using. -_-

Manny's on dialup, so it'll take.....a week per ep? As for the best player, it'd have to be VLC.  DVDX is really the best...if you can afford the $80, but VLC is free.

I've already remedied the video playing issue, NewOrder. I've got them working in Windows Media Player just fine.

Now, as landbeforetimelover seems to have failed to noticed in my prior post, I'm in possesion of a broadband internet connection, so I can do this. The problem is that Demonoid has been having issues, so I'm lucky to get any progress at all on my torrents. And some of them don't seem as good as the others. For one, the low quality version of "Canyon of Shiny Stones" off of landbeforetimelover's site seems to be a record off of Canada, but the high-quality version I got was a US record (that isn't as good as the Canada records). A Canada viewer, "MadPsiNtst," has much better high-quality torrents than a US viewer, "HORROR." However, not all of the high-quality episodes, like Canyon of Shiny Stones, are from MadPsiNtst.

I've been downloading these high-quality episodes for something like 2 weeks now, and I have only completed 5 of them.

The way I see it with torrents...get it in the first week or they're dead otherwise.  You might be out of luck since these episodes are pretty old in torrent-land now.

Demonoid has been having some *cough* legal issues *cough* with the authoritay. The tracker is going off and on. I'm lucky to get any progress on any of my open torrents throughout the day. They're getting progress, but it's like 100 times worse than dial-up.

Not always true.  The Inuyahsa torrent I downloaded was a hefty 46GB, and it took me almost 2 weeks. Downloading at like 33kps. Seeders suck, but it was pretty good on demonoid.  Too bad they're gone, probably for good. :(  :(  :(  :(  :(  :cry2  :cry2  :cry2  :cry2  :cry2  :cry  :cry  :cry  :cry  :cry

I've always wanted to ask this question.

What are seeders and what are leechers?

Leechers, I think, are folks who download but do not upload anything.  Seeds, I think, would be the episodes that are available for download.  If it works like Edonkey then the more folks who have an episode available for others to download the faster the download can be.   Though I've not used edonkey for many many many years and never used any torrent site I assume it may work the same.

well, technically, when you download, you're called a leecher, but it's commonly used to describe someone who downloads without uploading at least as much as they downloaded. Just selfish people, only out for themselves.  Seeders are people who are uploading to others and when you create a torrent, you are the first "seeder".  Seeds are people who seed so much (like a 2.0 ratio), that they create a seed.  Now, you can download a file if it has seeds even if it has no peers, but peers are a good thing to have as well.

Some ISP's will hound you if they discover that you're seeding torrents.  ^^  Just know your policy before trying.

Haha!  I've gotten tons of threatening legal letters from comcast.  So have a lot of my hacking buddies.  George has gotten 563 since 1997. :lol They don't really care.  They just do it just cuz they have to in order to stay on the right side of the law.  No one really cares.  It's impossible to catch all the torrent users, so they've focused on shutting down the torrent trackers (demonoid as a prime example) :( .  They can't even tell what you're downloading without downloading the file themselves.  They can only tell without downloading on P2P networks such as limewire (which is why limewire is not a safe place).

Do you have an estimation on how many you got?

I guess you ignore them, or tell them to get lost.

Still as slow as mollases on my part, but I get the occasional progress every now and then (I've got a torrent that's been frozen on 97% for the past week). We need to come up with something more permanent than this....

Do we?  With dvd releases soon to be (or are already out, I don't remember) there won't be a need for downloaded low quality episodes.  You'll buy if you want them that bad in a high quality format that doesn't hang on 97% complete for weeks.

I tried to for awhile (before you were here) but my website got so much traffic that I couldn't leave it running.  I couldn't handle all the bandwidth usage.  It didn't help that *somebody* (not sure who) linked directly to my website on wikipedia, causing my bandwidth usage to explode even more. :p

Anyway, Petrie is right.  Soon, any episode downloads will be un-necessary.

Though I prefer the dvd's, as I'm sure most do.  If the series and movies continue there will be a need, to some at least, to see the LBT stuff before it is on dvd.  Also I'd imagine those who do the original music videos prefer downloading the digital format since they themselves do not need to rip it from a dvd, if it is on a dvd at all.

Those DVDs are expensive, but I've been thinking along the same lines as you, Petrie. My hope is that LBT 13 will contain a cupon I can use for "Amazing Adventures," and that that DVD will contain a usable cupon for whatever the newest release is going to be.
