I have been meeting a lot of random people on msn lately intentionally just to have some people to chat with, and I always get this question:

"So, why do you like the land before time?"

When I'm asked this question, I honestly don't know what to say.  I have no idea why I like it, I just...do.   I'm starting to ask myself this question too.  I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, and I still don't have an answer.  Why do I like it?  Why do I risk being mocked an humiliated?  Why does LBT affect me so much?  These are the question's I've been going over and over In my head, and I cannot answer any of them.  So, I'm gonna ask you guys.

Why do you like the land before time?

This a question that even escapes me. I suppose I like it for the same reason I like Digimon or PokÈmon. I... just do. I suppose one reason I like it is that I just find the little guys sooooo cute on their little adventures. Could this have anything to do with it, landbeforetimelover? This is a LBT board, so we're allowed to say that, right? :lol

I took a humiliation risk at Wal-Mart when I asked a lady at electronics if they had LBT 10 or 11 in stock. She was real understanding and didn't say anything out of the blue. Of course, they didn't have them, but still....

Also, what's this about chatting with different people on MSN? It doesn't sound like something I'd want to do (partially because I'm not even on MSN, but I AM on Gmail chat). It sounds like you'd meet undesirable types that I wouldn't want to be around. And how would they even know if you were into LBT (unless you also went by the name landbeforetimelover there, too :DD)? How did you even find these random people?

I do go with landbeforetimelover there.  I also have a pic of Cera, so they have a basic idea.  I obtain random msn ID's using specially designed search bots.  I just chat with some random person I find that's online.  I"ve met a lot of creeps, but also a lot of friends too.

Well, the lil' dinos are a bunch of cuties for one thing, two, they have well thought-out plots and morals without getting too preachy and such, and for another, its such a haven from a TV filled with MTV-esque violence and sexual humor and other vulgarities, and baby-ish sugary sweet, diabetes inducing insults to my intellegence (I'm looking at you, PBS Kids, Nick Jr, and Noggin).

risk being mocked and humiliated? bah :p you get too worried dude :p anyone who mocks you, I promise has a guilty pleasure of his/her own, and it's probably just as 'embarrassing' or worse :p

I personally grew up with the dinos, and I just enjoy the movies, I started _watching_ them again because of nostalgia, no video games, a VCR, DVD player, LEGO© blocks, and moving :p

I'm apparently weak to nostalgia, I watch LBT again, I still have all my PokÈmon cards, and I have all my old VG systems... even an original Game Boy, even though I have a Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy SP, and a DS XD I have Packrat syndrome and a weakness to nostalgia that makes me fear owning a house XD

You know, lil' kids shows. Baby shows like a certain purple dinosaur I won't mention here, tele-tubbys, all that.

Never watched those shows. But I'm diabetic :P:
I know of at least two other land before time fans who are, but neither of them ever was a Barney fan :lol

I don't really see what's so bad about those kinds of shows. They're not insulting anyone.

Nobody is forced to like them, but I suppose that too patronizing comments on the shows and their audience would put us on the same level as those who will act in the same manner against fans of the land before time.

I think I know where you're going, Malte. We shouldn't say things like that about Barney or anything like that. That would be the pot calling the kettle black.

And, if it's of any consolation, I got diabetes back in '96 or '97 (I've forgotten by now). I was either 5 or 6 at the time.

I'm sorry if I started some sort of argument.  :(

I was just saying how I saw them. I'll be going now. I have to check things out at a Felidae board I'm moderating.

Yes I agree with you. While I no longer like those kinds of shows, I don't think it's right to bash them.

You didn't say anything very harsh Weatherlord and as far as I'm concerned no argument was started. Nevertheless I think that none of us would approve of similar comments being made on LBT. We should make sure to mark our oppinions as such and not act in any way towards others in which we wouldn't like being acted towards by them.
Speaking of Felidae, I recently found a comic version of Felidae in our library and checked it out. It didn't match the quality of the movie I'm afraid as it left out respectively changed important parts of the story.

I think that Barney is a wonderful show.  My little cousin watches it all the time.  Even though I don't like it, I like the way it teaches children and the way it goes about things.  I personally find Barney to be really annoying, but I still respect those who like it, no matter what their age. :) If people accept the way I like LBT, I should accept them as well.  The only things I dont accept about a person is if they do things I consider to be morally wrong.  I'm not gonna go into details about that though cuz I don't wanna start an argument. ;)

I like the land before time, cause the story is about good friends, which hold on together.
As a second point I find the little dinos very cute.
