Title: Member Awards 2009 - Voting open
Post by: Malte279 on May 10, 2009, 01:39:01 PM
I beg everybody's pardon for skipping one of the plagiarizing introduction speeches which I have given in all the previous years for the starting of the award voting. I got to run to catch a bus (it has been a really long and hard day and it is not yet over), which is why I must, in a rather unceremoneus manner just copy paste some award votes which I typed yesterday and then run like mad to still catch that bus:

There has surely been no shortage of projects and GOF members who promoted them throughout the last year. Patrick (Nimrod) and Tim (action9000) both conducted instrumental song solos. So did Iris (Mumbling) who not only conducted several singing and instrumental solos but also took the lead of the GOF singing projects of “Family” and “On your own”. Austin (landbeforetimelover) has done a lot to make LBT stuff available and created a place to store all kinds of LBT related materials. Kor has done very much on behalf of the land before time audio play project which is currently but just temporarily postponed. Nevertheless I think that at this time another project is really especially deservant of this award because it is something very new, involves many members who work on it, and surpasses all the projects started so far in its sheer dimenstions. I’m referring to the land before time computer game project. Many of you have provided ideas for the project. Iris and Sky provided background art and I think Razzie in particular has done a lot to turn cubes into characters in the game. Tim however is the main programmer and the initiator of the project. Several others have been talking about starting such a project, but Tim actually did. Therefore my vote for the LBT Project Award goes to action9000.

Same as in the last years I just didn’t participate in any Role play games. Therefore I must skip my vote on the role play gamer award.

I’m really grateful for all feedback that I receive for fanart or other matters on the GOF and especially for responses which make suggestions on what to keep or what to improve thereby helping with the art to be done in the future. Chiletrek, Kor, and Iris have made such suggestions in several of their feedback posts. I especially appreciate it when members respond not only to fanart, but also to fanfiction (which obviously demands a lot more time to read). Timehopper and babidikrakenguard have been very helpful with their feedback and corrections of the parts of –The Cold Time“ which I have posted on the GOF so far. Only one person among many whom I have sent the parts of “Old Threehorns” which I have written so far has read it whole. I really really appreciate this very much, thank you Cancerain Tiger :)
With all this however there is one piece of feedback which I got throughout this year which had the most direct corrective and lasting effect on my fanart. I used to make a mistake with my coloring of Spike. In several images I colored the edge of Spike’s upper jaw orange rather than green (similar to the yellowish edge along Cera’s upper jaw) until Kacie (DarkHououmon) pointed out that mistake to me which I did not make anymore ever since. Therefore my vote for the helpful feedback award goes to DarkHououmon.

My votes:

Currently, I'm unsure about who I'd vote for for the Friendly Member, the Proactive, the Projects and the Helpful Member awards, as I couldn't decide among the options.

Role Player Gamer: The Great Valley Guardian, he already won the title last year, but he deserves it again. He's extremely eager to RP, and always comes up with good ideas that go good with the tone of the RP, and is fun to work with.

Philosopher: The Friendly Sharptooth. Read any post by him, and you can see how much thought he puts into every topic, even his signature shows how deep of a thinker he is.

Fanart: Dark Hououmon: She did a great job with the SV pictures I requested, and she's just nice to chat with on YIM too. She's really good with anything artistic, I've seen her other work on her Deviantart page too.

Feedback: The Great Valley Guardian, he always reviewed my work, and he gave me some ideas I greatly appreciated.

So we vote here?

Friendly Member Award: brekclub85, he's a lot of fun at the Party Room section.

Helpful Member Award: Nick22, will help with anything.

Role Play Gamer Award: Can't vote here, I don't really role-play.

Philosopher Award: The Friendly Sharptooth, always has long, intriging posts.

Proactive Member Award: Rat_lady7, posts in a lot of topics, so you always see her opinion.

Fanart Award: DarkHououmon, a great artist.

Projects Award: DarkHououmon, is great at video collages.

Feedback Award: The Chronicler, enjoyed my Bionicle custom!

Hope I got all of your names right! Good luck!

Thanks for voting for me for one award, but I'm afraid those votes won't count unless you can explain why you're voting for those members, in particular (it's one of the most important rules for voting :o ). I think maybe one or two sentences will be enough for each vote (I'd actually like to know why you're voting for me for the feedback award).

I'll vote later. I need some time to think. Also, could someone remind me which awards we are voting?

Okay well I think I've got a few this time :) .

I won't vote in the role play section since I've only been active there for a short time.

Helpful Member Award... I'd like to point out DarkHououmon for this since she helped me so many times with my computer and virusscanners. Thank you :)

Fanart Award... There have been so many great artists this year! I will have to go with Neogenesis for the lovely characters he came up with. The only thing I'd love to see from you is something with colours. But honestly, I love your work.

Friendly Member Award... I'd like to vote for Littlefoot1616 here. You've been a great friend even when I was being silly as I can be :p Supported me in times I needed and helped me when I needed it. You definitely deserve this award.

The Philosopher Award... I'm going for Malte with this for his good questions when it comes to certain subjects of LBT. Also he often tries to make me realize whether I'm doing something correct in my life by asking the right questions :DD

The Proactive Member Award... landbeforetimelover has done a lot for this forum including giving it a nice new banner and member levels pictures. He also made it possible for people to get their own fanart on his site and even make a picture database of lbt. He gets my vote.

The Projects Award... Action9000. As everyone has already mentioned your work on the game is great, even when it's put to a stop so now and then.

The Feedback Award... My vote here goes to Malte with his constructive critism on my and other people's fanart. It definitely helps and leaves space for improvement.

Thanks Mumbling for the Fan Art Vote.  I know I need to color my art I'm just missing out on some coloring materials.

When I'm ready I'll place my votes.  Infact what are the main areas to vote on?

Here are the definitions (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=5497) of what each award is about and here are the exact voting rules rules (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=5496). Note that particular stress is laid on the rule of some explaining sentences on why you feel somebody should be given a particular award. We also strongly encourage everyone to take the chance to give credit to other members as well even if they are not the ones to receive your ultimate vote.
Note that the voting on the awards (excepting the "Appreciated Member Award" the voting on which can only start after the closing of the other votes) will run for 14 days so you have time until May 24th to cast your votes.

To make a good decision with regard to fanart one needs to leave far back in the fanart section, after all there had been no more voting since March 2008 and none of the art published in the GOF since has so far been credited with an award. We have so many artists that naming every one of them would probably go beyond the scope of this vote. Therefore I apologize to everyone not mentioned here. Sky continued to post his really beautiful pictures throughout the last year including most of the really pretty series based on the TV episodes. Kacie (DarkHououmon) is another one of our members who has frequently posted fanart and fanart of great beauty at that. I’ve also been especially taken with the style of DarkWolf91’s and I’m looking forward to hopefully see more of it during the next year. With regard to quality, development and frequency I’m particularly fond of the art of Gustav (Lillefot). He did really excellent jobs with regard to shadowing and facial expressions in particular. Some of his pictures are really very powerful for the strong emotion in them. I really hope to see more of your art Gustav, perhaps with a little more variation of different species and a bit more elaborate backgrounds. My vote for the Fanart Award goes to Lillefot.

Let's see what the big cheese thinks....

Friendliest Member:  I've voted for him every year since this award thing started because this person brings the most neutral, honest, and non-judgmental stance to any political topic on the GOF, yet is never rude, condescending, or blunt with his remarks.  To me, that shows you have the ability to be courteous and civil with others.  Therefore, Jason (Littlefoot1616) gets my vote.

Helpful Member: This person has been especially helpful to other members on the forum when they run into computer trouble.  He's often correct, keeping things to the nitty gritty.  Everyone always thanks him for the assistance.  Austin (landbeforetimelover) has my vote in this category.

Role Play Gamer: This one is tough because I do not role play and I very rarely step foot into that section of the GOF.  I simply don't have time to immense myself in role plays like I used to years before.  However, most remember I sought a second role play mod for the sections when it was apparent Brian had too much going on to be able to run the section alone.  I had to read role plays and see who could role play and be respected in threads.  Lillefot was chosen as the mod in the end, and I would give him the role player award in a heartbeat.

LBT Philosopher: Usually there was no contest for this award on my part.  I always knew who could ramble on for pages about LBT topics when the main point was in sentence three.  However, a new sheriff came into town last year (I think) and his posts on LBT matter are as insightful as my co-worker's here on the board.  The Friendly Sharptooth is definitely an LBT philosopher in my book.

Proactive Member:  This one is tough.  I remember the first year, having won this award unanimously.  In the times that followed, others have certainly been very proactive in helping the GOF grow actively.  From an owner's point of view, I try to look at those that have come to me with suggestions for the board, even if the answer I give is "not now" or a simple "no".  They still are thinking, and have the GOF's interests at heart.  One who has been adament in offering suggestions to help out has been Explorer.

Fanart: Sorry to say, I have been such a slacker on the fanart section of this board, I will not put in a vote for this section.  I can think of in the past who has done good artwork, but that's not fair to those who have posted recently.

Projects Award: This person is doing something unique that involves GOF members in a new way.  The creation of a LBT game that can be used on the computer--certainly no small task for an amateur programmer and all the bits and bytes that need to be compiled to create a finished product.  As project leader, he has a lot of work on his hands coordinating who helps out, what has to be done, and how to fit member contributions into the final product.  Tim (action9000) you have earned this award a thousand times over.

Feedback award: Like the fanart award, I have neglected to visit sections where I can see this taking place daily to know who often helps out with constructive feedback.  I cannot accurately judge who has given good feedback over the year.

I would have to say the most proactive member here is rat-lady, because it seems everywhere i click she is there

best phylossifer ( i know my spelling is awfull ) would have to be the Friendly sharptooth, because you can tell he puts alot of thought into his responses

most helpful member is nick, it seems as if he will do anything to help someone out

and if we had a worst speller award i think it would be me, i'm 17 and i can't spell at all, i'm pathetic, Thank god for spell check on word. :lol

To start off, a lot of people have been very friendly here at GOF. However, there was one person in particular who truly made an impact for me. He and I have become like best friends and we talk with each other about so many things, both on and off of GOF. I'm so happy that I "know" him. I choose Lillefot for the Friendly Member Award

So many people have been helpful, but there is one in particular who really helped me out this year, despite only helping me with one thing. When I wanted ot make a singing project, I had no idea how to sync the sounds, get rid of unwanted audio, or anything of the editing sort for that matter. However, this person happily offered to help me out, and I am so grateful she did so. Mumbling, I nominate you for the Helpful Member Award.

The Role-Playing Award is very hard for me. I really want to nominate myself, as I believe I have definitely shown skill and fun rping in the past. Unfortunately, it would be so unfair to this person because he has improved so much in his rp skills that I am going to skip nominating myself and choose him instead. I remember when he wanted to make a certain rp, he was stuck on certain things. So the two of us worked things out, and despite the rp not living long, he definitely had great ideas and a strong sense of respect in the RP thread. I nominate Lillefot for the Role-Playing Award.

I have never been much of a philosopher, and I didn't expect to be much of one considering the great philosophers we have here, but I gotta say this person really impressed me. He was kind of new to the GOF and yet his posts had true meaning and thought put into them. I happily await to see what other wonderful discoveries/theories this person will come up with, and that's why The Friendly Sharptooth gets my vote fot the Philosopher Award

Well fanart has always been so interesting for me, but sometimes I run into fanart that I don't really quite enjoy. Thank god that's not the case in GOF! All of the artwork done here is so well done it is mind boggling! The one drawing that really stood out to me out of all the others was the drawing of Ruby dressed up as Link (or if it was just a random character). It just looked so perfect! The artist truly had skill with this, so I choose Lillefot for the Fanart Award.

This is the other award I really have trouble with, the Project Award. I really really really really REALLY want to vote for myself here, considering I have made quite a few music videos (despite the majority of them being taken down from youtube and lost forever) as well as a couple singing projects. However, I cannot deny how difficult the MMORPG project is. As much as I really want to nominate myself, once again I cannot as it would not be fair to this person. I don't think anybody has ever come up with the idea of making a MMORPG game for LBT, so to even begin to think about it is pretty noteworthy. Action9000, you get my vote for Projects Award.

The Feedback Award vote for me goes to someone who I did not expect for it to go to. This person has given me the most feedback for my Revenge fanfictions, and I don't think I would have continued the stories without his constant support and feedback. Dark Pterano, thank you for everything and I nominate you for the Feedback Award.

As for the Proactive Award, at this time I cannot vote for it because I need to really really think carefully about it. Sorry guys

Post by: Serris on May 10, 2009, 06:43:13 PM
Well thank you, F-22.

-------------------------------------------
Well, here are my nominations:

Friendly Member Award: Kor is my choice. I have never seen him get angry or even mildly irritated at someone. He is also very welcoming to new members.

Helpful Member Award: I nominate landbeforetimelover, the GOF's computer savant. Though I have never needed to request his help, by reading through his posts (and occasionally following his advice), I can see where his technical knowledge helps others in time of need.

Role Play Gamer Award: This is perhaps the most difficult choice as I have encountered some amazing role players; key among them are: LettuceBacon&Tomato, GVG, Starfall, F-22, Threehorn, Kor and Explorer. But I'd have to say Nick is my choice. His Insane Cafe trilogy is perhaps one of the most successful and longest running RP's on this forum. He also shows dedication to multiple RPs.

Philosopher Award: The Friendly Sharptooth has my vote. Though his posts are extremely long; they are rich with information and thoughts.

Fanart Award: I'd have to say Mumbling. Her "Ducky Skywalker" picture was perhaps one of the best and most unique LBT pictures I have ever seen. Her other art shows a near infinite level of creativity and refinement.

Projects Award: Action is my choice. His LBT MMORPG is perhaps one of the most ambitious projects I have ever seen. His devotion to this project is also commendable. He also deserves praise for smoothly coordinating multiple members, each of whom specialize in certain areas, to achieve this goal.

Feedback Award: I'd have to say Malte. I have seen him provide valuable feedback on almost every fanart/fanfiction thread. Even though he did not agree with my idea for an LBT fan fic he was very respectful about disagreeing with my idea.

Proactive Member Award: ________________________ (I'll think about this later.)

Friendly member- while just about everyone on here is friendly, I have to pick Someone for it.. and I will go with KOR. Kor is always willing to suggest ideas in his responses..
Helpful member- I usually vote for Malte on this award,,, But not this year.I'm going with Landbeforetimelover.. if you hgavce a computer problem.,. he's the go-to guy
RP Gamer Award. I have had some very gifted Rpers. Serris, Drake and Kor , just to name 3. This is not an easy choice, but I'm going to go with DRAKe on this one, he has shown that he is very good at roleplaying and can add a great deal to a roleplay.
Philsopher Award _ The Friendly Sharptooth gets my vote for this award..

Thank you for those that voted for me. :)

Hmm my voting...

Friendly Member Award: Do I HAVE to make a choice here? Fine...I will...now..if I had to choose out of all of these VERY friendly members...I would have to choose....Kor. He's always greeting the new members and he posts in topics even that other members usually would not post in. So I honestly believe he deserves this award.

Helpful Member Award: Darkhououmon, she tries to help others in suggesting others to have better manners on the forum and suggests on some drawing techinques. So that's why I vote for her.

Role Play Gamer Award: Oh boy, now I am not a fan of RPG's at all. I just don't really have time for them and I tried like once or twice in other places. So I won't vote here.

Philosopher Award: raga, I think, he(or she, sorry I don't know if you are guy or girl) made some topics that started a few pretty interesting discussions.

Fanart Award: DarkWolf91 definitely. I love her Shorty drawings and her style. It's very well done. :)

Projects Award: I need to think about this.

Feedback Award:Vote pending...

Proactive Member Award: Oh boy...this is a tricky one for me, since the GOF is ALWAYS active. :p Heh, I could vote for myself, since that seems to be the most popular vote here, but I don't really want to vote for myself. So I say the most proactive user really is Noname. Whenever I am on, or even if I am not on, he's usually here. I think mostly because he's in the RPG section this year, but yeah, I see him the most out of everyone here definitely.

Thanks so much for the vote and the shout-out, guys! I'm glad you enjoy my art. I look forward to posting more in the future :smile

Friendly Member Award: This one is tricky, since everyone here is so ridiculously nice... But I've thought about it a lot, and I would have to give my vote to Mumbling. Everywhere I've seen her post, Iris just always has something nice to say. She proverbially brightens up the room :)

Role Play Gamer Award: Ah, there are so many talented roleplayers on this board. But one stands out in my experience as having been a part of every roleplay that I have, as well as many many more. And GVG gives equal care and attention to each one. A close run, but well deserved!

Fanart Award: Again, a really tough one. I have decided on DarkHounomon, though it was another close run. I enjoy the way she draws, and the sheer rate at which she completes new pieces is quite impressive. Also, she posted the method that she used for her Sharptooth Valley fanart, and it displays a level of research that I definitely respect. Finally, I believe she has shown a very receptive attitude towards critique. Though I'm happy to say that I haven't seen the opposite from any of the wonderful artists here :)
One of the first things I did when I rediscovered this forum was peruse the fanart section :lol Lillefot and NeoGenesis were very close runner-ups!

Projects Award: Action9000, for the much renowned LBT game project! I have a couple of friends who are programmers, and I know that it's no mean feat! Every time he quotes the number of lines of code he's up to, my eyebrows raise in quiet awe :lol
In addition, the project is organized very well, and he replies to every bit of feedback quite thoroughly. Great job! Definitely a project I'm excited to be pitching in for.

Phew! That's all for now. I'll finish up tomorrow :D

Like many others, I find there are so many friendly members here that it's difficult to make a decision.  I know I'm definitely out of the question, and there's one member here who surely blows me out of the water.

*Friendliest Member: Mumbling.  I don't think I've ever seen this member get ugly in any post.  She's definitely pleasant to be around :yes.

*Helpful Member: Landbeforetimelover.  He is never hesitant to assist with any problems regarding the forum.  He also assists members with their computer problems.

*Role Play Gamer: Pass, for I have no involvement with the RP section.

*Philosopher: The Friendly Sharptooth.  He puts so much depth and thought into his posts.  He's also an awesome writer :yes.

*Fanart: DarkHououmon.  Her drawings are very detailed and well done.  She's also open to fanart suggestions from fellow members.

*Projects: Action9000.  Much admiration for his imagination and ability to create videogames.  He also has done singing projects that are great.

*Feedback: Malte.  He's never hesitant to add his two-cents to a topic.  He gives very constructive advice when he provides feedback, especially regarding fanart or fanfiction.

*Proactive: Rat_Lady7.  She has started many topics and is a very active member.  She helps keep the Party Room busy, for sure ;)!

Here are my votes:

Friendly Member Award: Well... As someone has already said, there is rather no person here who would be unfriendly, so choosing only one for this award is hard. I decided to vote for brekclub85, since he seems to always act and behave positively.

Role Play Gamer Award: I choose The Great Valley Guardian, since he always plays in every RP he has joined in equally good way.

Philosopher Award: My vote goes to the one who post rarely, but always long and he fully shows his point of view on any matter he is actually talking about. I vote for... The Friendly Sharptooth.

Proactive Member Award: Nick22. Like Matrix, he is everywhere at (almost) every time.  :p

Projects Award: Action9000. For working on LBT game. I think I dont need to explain thic choice more. ;)

Maybe I will give more votes later.

Projects: Action  that LBT game appears to be coming along nicely
Feedback Award: Malte. Always willing to give his two cents about anything.
ProActive::BRekclub. Everytime I turn around, he's adding something new.. :)
FAnART: Darkwolf. that drawing of Shorty is among the best I've ever seen.

Friendly Member - NeptuneNavigator2001. Sure, we haven't heard much from him here for quite a while, but he's a very understandable and tolerative person and it really helps me, having him on my MSN contact list. :)
Projects - Action9000. Guess why? :D
Helpful Member and Feedback - Malte. No need to comment on this one too, i suppose. :)

Yeah, I haven't been on here much lately, but you know what? I think it's time I voted too. :p

Friendliest Member: My vote for this award goes to Kacie (DarkHououmon). Her acceptance, understanding and tolerance of differences, not to mention her caring, thoughtfulness, and inquisitiveness, are all causes for why she gets my vote for this award. :)

Helpful Member: This one was a bit tougher for me to decide on, as I do know a couple people at least who would fit this award rather well, in my opinion. However, after thinking about it, my vote for this award goes to Malte. His willingness to give advice to people in regards to a problem they may be facing, and his forthright approach, while still being respectful of others, gives me little hesitation in this choice. :)

Fanart: We've had some good fanart this year, certainly. This wasn't an easy choice to make, as we have many talented artists on the forum. However, my vote for this award goes to Lillefot, for his LBT fanart. :) He has an incredible eye for detail, and always strives to let it show in what he draws. Again, this was a very tough choice, but I feel he is deserving of this nomination. ;)

(I'm a he, don't worry about it though, it can be hard to pin a gender to text.  Thanks for the vote though, you made my day!)

Friendly Member: For this my vote goes to Kor.  He often says very little in a single post, usually just a line or two, but each post is always filled with encouragement.  I can not think of a single time where I have even seen him get the least bit irritated.

Helpful Member: Pass

Role-play Gamer: Here, I will be voting for The Great Valley Guardian.  I've only recently become active in the role play section but everywhere I look GVG is there.  I don't think I have done a role play yet that he wasn't a participant of.

Philosopher: I'm going to have to go with the crowd on this one and vote for The Friendly Sharptooth.  He doesn't post too often but when he does it is a very well thought out comment.

Most Proactive: Pass

Fanart: I'll give my vote to Darkwolf91.  I just love the Shorty drawings, what else can I say?

Projects: My vote for this category has to go to Action9000.  The LBT MMORPG is just too great of a project to ignore.  I'm still blown away that he took the challenge on, and the game just keeps improving.

Feedback: I'm going to cast my vote here for Malte.  Say something and I guarantee you it won't be long before Malte shows up and has his say.  On top of this his posts are almost never on liners, you can count on him to give a long and well thought out response, a response than can sometimes feel like it drags on for pages  :p (just kidding!)

phew, that wasn't easy

Helpful Member: Ah, I'm going to have to skip this one, sorry :(

Philosopher: The Friendly Sharptooth. When I rediscovered this place and first started browsing old topics, his posts always jumped out at me. Impossibly thorough, and long-winded in the best kind of way :D Great stuff! Between him and Malte it was tough decision, though.

Feedback: Malte. Hs feedback is everywhere! It's as simple as that. I don't think I've done a single thing on this forum without getting his opinion on it, which is fantastic :smile
And it's always phenomenally well thought-out, too!

Proactive: Yet another skip, yeesh! I just haven't poked around enough I guess, haha.

Well, that's all until the Appreciated Member award comes up, I suppose :)

To finish my voting before the Appreciatied Member Award, for Proactive Member I had to think long and hard about this. So many people are normally active, so it was difficult to choose just one person. However, if I had to choose one person, I would say Brekclub wins my vote for Proactive Member Award. He is always starting a new topic or RP somewhere, and many of these lead to exciting discussions.

Here's my votes for my previously undecided ones.

Helpful Member: Darkhououmon, she gave me some computer advice when I had a computer virus at home (This happened thrice.)

Project: Action9000, From what I've seen of the LBT game, it looks great.

Friendly Member: It's been a hard choice, but I pick GVG. He always has a fun attitude.

Proactive: Myrkin, I see him on the boards a lot, and we've done a lot of games in the Party room and RPs together

Well, lets see. Another year gone, and I'm ready to cast my ballots.

Friendly Member: Man, this is gonna be hard to decide. Partially because I haven't been on GoF a lot in the past year, and partially because a lot of people here have been friendly. However, as of 10:45 PM EST, May 11th, 2009, I am currently voting for brekclub85, because you have helped me get out a dull mood in the forum games.

Helpful Member: This is one where I will probably abstain, but if I find someone really helpful, I will vote for that person.

RP Gamer: Man, my lack of GoF activity has made me choosing any award winner impossible! I would have to say, though, that this is one award where I won't abstain. I have to choose between three people, but since LB&T has gone, I guess he isn't eligible for an award. Still, in spirit, my vote goes out to LB&T. But, since there are two more candidates who have been active, I shall give my vote to one of them. I've RPed with these two, and both of them are willing to accept new ideas. But since both of them are equally fun to RP with, my vote will com down to grammar usage. Oh, great! Both of them have good grammar usage! Well, I guess I would have to choose Explorer, for the idea of SSB: Collision. You, me, Serris, and everyone else still in it have to finish that RP!

Philosopher: Well, last year, Malte won this award. However, the torch must be passed! There has been one avatar that I've seen underneath a username that is on the left side of posts with good, reasoned thinking. That avatar, my fellow GoF members, is (http://i5.ifrm.com/1676/156/upload/av-398.jpg). The Friendly Sharptooth, every time you post, you seem to take up a lot of space. Here is the result of that hard work typing.

Projects: I have to say, I wish that action9000 would get that MMORPG finished so that he could get to work on a Mac version, because I would like to get a shot at that game!

Fanart: Well, last year, Sky had produced some AMAZING fan-art. However, Sky, you have not produced that much in the past year. So, no offense, but you don't have my vote this time. You still have some good artwork, though. My vote goes to Darkwolf because you have some really nice stuff.

Most Proactive: Well, this one, has to go to Brek. You have so many posts in the forum games section, I wonder if you live on the internet. I hope your home isn't addressed "127.0.0.1" (You have to be an internet geek to get this).

Feedback: This one, my fellow forum-goers, shall go unvoted for my me this year. I can't think of anyone with significantly more feedback than anyone else. There are two people. And since I can't decide on which one to pick, this is an abstention.
-----
Well, here are my two cents. I'll cast my Appreciated Member vote later, with everyone else, but I know who I'm votin' for. Til then, have a nice day!

Votes:

Friendly Member Award:  I would say Kor mainly because somethings when you present yourself with something like art video, etc.  he is there to keep you going with your projects.  there are many others like that but I afraid nobody did it more than Kor.

Helpful Member Award:  Man! this is a Tough one but I would have to say LBTLover (landbeforetimelover).  Well to tell you the tru i'm impressed that he developed his own website to watch and view as much LBT material as I want.  Thanks to him I can watch them again and again.

Philosopher Award:  I can't tell a lie but I feel Malte takes the cake on that one he is usually the one who type long messages...:wow and they make sense to.

Fanart Award:  Darkhououmon got some "off the wall" (Marvelous) art work especially work she drew the main character as different species.

Project: Award:  I would say Lbtfan13 mainly because is new video ideas I really cool which is singing most or even all the songs of LBT.

Role Play:  Berkclub85 had made some Awesome topics even thought I hardly participated just read the forum messages from him and other just made things interesting.

Proactive:  Between the Admins. I would say Petrie when there's a problem he's often shows up to make the situation better.

Feedback: Malte.  He mostly find the right things to say when you really need it.

COMPLETE!!!

Fanart - NeoGenesis005 - Has drawn interesting & detailed characters.  Though not colored they are still good artwork and not every good artwork needs to be colored, though many may think so.   I like the extra information provided with each picture.  This was a very difficult category to pick which 1 character to vote for.

Feedback - Malte - This person offers frequent and often detailed feedback, often of the helpful type and with advice & tips on ways the person can often improve the post that they did.  The feedback post are often can be very detailed.

Friendly - Chiletrek - This person has been very friendly to talk to via pm, on the various chats, threads and via IM.  I've had many long interesting conversations on IM on various topics.

Most Helpful - Neptune Navigator - This person has helped me in various ways in the past few months, over IM.  Some was just talking, some was actual information, ways to do this, things to avoid, ect.

Philosopher - the friendly sharptooth - This user posts very detailed posts that are through & read by more then 1 person. The posts are very long and detailed and cover many details, a thing not a lot of newer users would be comfortable doing.

Proactive -  Nick22 - This person has started many rps in the rp section.  & continued them when the other co gm, or the gm who started the rp got to busy to run them anymore.  They have been fun to rp in and was one of the first of the more different types of rp in my experience.

Projects -  Explorer - This user has helped with a 2nd fragment of a script for the audio plays that I've not posted since the first one I posted seemed to not be going anywhere.  Explorer had given me some ideas and parts of the fragment.

Role Player - Chiletrek - I have had a lot of fun rping with Chiletrek and his various characters over the past time we've been rping in the same threads together.  His characters have been fun to rp with.

Alright, here we go...And I thank you all who voted for me in any particular category.

Now for the proper awards!

Fanart: This one was tough only because the two I wanted to nominate are bot superb artist and both deserve recognition, but in the end I had to choose DarkHououmon. Her tutorial on how to draw LBT characters has severed me well in the last few months, and her SV fanart for Brekclub85 is fantastic!

Most Proactive member: This one without a doubt goes strictly to Rat_Lady. She's started more topics on this particular forum than most of us can try to count! :DD She's been a great credit to this forum and she should be proud!

RPG Award: Me personally....I'm passing the torch BEFORE I light it this year, based mainly on the fact that Brekculb85 himself has started at least SEVEN different Rp's and to boot most of them are sharptooth based! That's impressive to me, so this year I'm giving this one to you Brek! I hope you enjoy it! :lol

Most Friendly Award: This one was actually pretty easy, Kor got this one. He responds in almost every thread here, and he always has something positive and thoughtful to say. He is a good person and this award is calling his name.

Philosopher: I can't decide here...there are simply too many great people with wise opinions and thoughtful remarks to make a clear decision on this award at this time.

Most Helpful: I personally have had no difficulties recently, but still this award still has to go to someone...right? Well...based on past experiences here on the GOF I'm giving this one to LandBeforeTimeLover. He's still a great wealth of knowledge and I'm sure he's more than willing to help those who need it.

Projects award: While I'm not active in this particular therad...at all, I'm still going to give my input. I feel this award should go to Action9000. His idea for a LBT based MMORPG was in two words...EPIC GENIUS!!!! This year he should hold his head up proud and know that I personally will wait til heck freezes over for this games completion.

Let me first make my speech... ahem....

It is with great regret that I had not participated much in this community over the past year. Letting life take over my freedoms from the internet, it seems all I was able to do here was post whiney updates about my life, and selfishly rub my personal projects under everyone's nose here. I wish I had done more, most especially in the RP section, and I did want to start doing some fan art for LBT, I just never put it into my schedule... I also wanted to attempt fan fiction on LBT, but as you all know, that was  not so. =P

I feel the need to apologies to the community for my absense. I know it is forgiven, but I still would like to make it clear that I wear my Mod badge here with a certain pride. (And my 2007 Proactive Badge) I'd like to make a resolution starting after this years award session to start doing more for this community.

And I hope I can keep to that promise...

anyway, with that all said and out of the way.. let me get to my votes for this year... keep in mind, my frequent absense may make these votes somewhat flawed, and some votes are votes on members from off forum reasons...

--------------------------------------------------------------

The Friendliest Member: The Friendly Sharptooth comes to mind. Not just because of the name. but also because much of my time spent here I've seen this matey live up to his name. Making kind comments about certain members and what not...

Most Helpful Member: Tim's always been there as a good mate. Helping me as I help him with various projects. Off the boards, I see the two of us like the Wright Brothers.. always being inventive and creative.. I think he'd be the same way on the forums

Best Role Play Gamer: I vowed about this time last year to be more apart of the roleplay forums... but Nick wins it for me. He did his best to keep me in the game, though I failed my duty (life got in the way) but I saw how well Nick's been keeping the RP forums buzzing. And I'd say he's well deserving of this award. Go get'em Nick!

The Philosopher: I always pictured Malt as the Philosopher type. Always being observant. Disecting certain topics to a high degree and stating his opinion as well as what he may consider fact. Malte always gets my vote in this area.

Most Proactive Member: [havent been around much to know]

Best Fanart: [Havent been around much to find out]

Best Projects: Tim gets my vote on this for his music projects and the LBT game (which I've been giving some opinions and advise on on and off throughout the production) I would vote myself, but I havent done anything LBT related in art or anything this year. I've only done mostly my webcomics, various and misc art pieces, and made updates about my life... woooooo... right?

Best Feedback: I'm voting Kor on this one. No mattewr what it is I or anybody else posts concerning art, literature or anything, Kor does his best to make a comment on it.

Most Appreciated Member: I apreciate myself.. but dont count that =P I havent been around enough to really know the answer to this one either...

First things first:
Quote
Projects: I have to say, I wish that action9000 would get that MMORPG finished so that he could get to work on a Mac version, because I would like to get a shot at that game!
There won't be a Mac version unless someone else is willing to completely rewrite the game code.  Everything about the technology I'm using to make the game is 32-bit Windows-based.  Sorry. :p  :(

Anywho, as for my votes:

The Friendly Member Award
In times of trouble and chaos, this member still finds a way to spare time for his friends, no matter what.  Aside from introducing me to new cool music and chatting randomly for half the night, he really does find a way to brighten the mood..not just with randomness but with very solid advice that can be applied to real life.  Your friendship is extremely valued by me, AvesTheForumFox.  I hope we can continue to keep in touch as much as we have been recently!

The Helpful Member Award
She's always there ( :D ) with a post whenever somebody has a problem, whether it be something technical or personal, whether on or off the forum, Mumbling has been nothing short of awesome.  Plus, with all the tips and artwork she's given me for the game, she has become the largest contributor of artwork to the game so far.  And of course, the times spent working on the game together over MSN, among other randomness, won't be forgotten!  Thanks Mumbling! :D

The Role Play Gamer Award
I will not be voting for this award.

The Philosopher Award
She has consistantly been sharing her beliefs regarding both "official" LBT as well as fanfictions.  While this year seems to have had less "philosophical" discussion in comparison to the last couple of years, Darkhououmon has been able to bring scientific fact into play on multiple occasions to explain points.  This makes her quite unique in my eyes and deserving of the award.

The Proactive Member Award
A website and database for a huge collection of LBT material?  A place where anyone can upload and share screenshots and LBT artwork, or just a place to share files with other GoF members?  landbeforetimelover, your server has really helped a lot of us share and collaborate.  I'd say you really have this award coming to you.

The Fanart Award
I won't be voting on this one.

The Projects Award
As much as I don't like voting for myself, I believe strongly enough in the success of the LBT game that I will keep my existing focus on the project and release continuous updates here as they are completed.  I'd like to vote for everyone who helped make this game possible, and there are many people on this list already.  Because I can't vote for everyone, I will vote myself as project leader.  If I do receive this award, a piece of it goes out to Mumbling, Malte, Littlefoot1616, Aves, Razzie, Sky, DarkWolf, Raga, Coyote_A, Serris, Flathead770, LettuceBacon&Tomato, and the rest of the team who has helped make the game a reality!

The Feedback Award
Spending huge amounts of time digging up and helping squish the LBT game's bugs and more than happy to let me know anything about the game project he doesn't think is perfect, Flathead770 is my candidate of choice for this award.  Our game wouldn't be as stable without his expert game-breaking ability and fine dedication to the gaming world!

I thought I was going not to vote for this, as I felt I hadn't been here for too long and thus I'm going to only vote in four categories but:

The Friendly Member award: I'd have to say that it was difficult for me to choose one, because when I first joined there were many who made me feel welcome and are very friendly and nice.  But this person has been very pleasant via her posts.  So I would say that Mumbling would receive my vote.  She is very friendly, but so are many of you.  As I said, it was difficult.

The Philospher Award: Whilst there are so many who give insightful and indepth discussions.  I'd have to say TheFriendlySharptooth or Michael would be my choice.  He is very thoughtful in what he has to say and I enjoy reading his long indepth posts.  Makes some good reading.  So keep it up.

The Fanart Award: Darkwolf, I've seen her Land Before Time Art and her other art on Deviant art and I have to say that she puts so much effort, time and concentration in each picture that she does.  That it shows.

Feedback Award:I'd like to vote for Kor regarding this as, although I haven't viewed every single thread on here.  He has always added his opinion in the ones I've seen and in most cases is always the first one.  And all of is feedback is thougtful and helpful.  So Kor get's the vote.

I hope that this is alright, I've procrastinated over this since the voting began.:)

There are plenty of interesting discussions going on on the GOF and there are several members who stand out for making good points and laying them out to the readers in a very sophisticated manner. Michael (The Friendly Sharptooth) definitely laid out his views in highly elaborate and thorough posts which were a joy to read for which he gets the credit he thoroughly deserves in this vote :yes
I want to point out another worthy candidate though. Since she joined the GOF she has participated in many high level discussions and I note her in particular for getting very thorough threads started, for keeping thorough threads going, and for turning not quite so thorough threads into something more interesting. She has a great knowledge and I really appreciating her way of giving boost to discussions (often those discussions which needn't end in one final point's acceptance) rather than putting an end to them by making a point. For all this I'm casting my vote for the Philosopher Award for Saft.

Friendliness a plenty! That's the GOF. Seriously everyone I think there are few around here who could not consider some of the laurel for the GOF's being a most friendly place as their own. I think it is one of the greatest strongpoints of the GOF that people who join us are welcomed in so warm and friendly a manner that many of them decide to stay not just for the interest in LBT but for the generally friendly attitude here. I have grown really fond of many of you and there are some whom I would really love to get to know better via MSN or email (though I must admit I have been very inactive on both of lately because of the current work load). An enumeration of all those whom I hold in high esteem for their sheer friendliness would sound inflationary for the sheer number of names, but I do hope that you whom I have often been talking to know that I mean you. Because of all this I cannot stress enough that my vote for the friendly member award must not be understood as a "friendlier than anyone else" kind of statement but as a tribute to the great friendliness I have seen and experienced from one of our members in particular. I have seen him speak up on behalf of others whom he barely knew for no reason other than a noble wish for harmony. For the same reason I have seen him accepting disappointments on behalf of others where others may have not been as graceful and gentlemenlike. Finally he has been as great a guest as kind a host he has been to me. Because of this I'm voting for Patrick (Nimrod) for the Friendly Member Award.

Thank you for those that voted for me. :)

I'm just posting again just in case my votes or anyone else's did not get tallied.

So, for Friendly Award-Kor, because he says "hi" to every new member and posts in almost every topic in a polite and considerate manner.

For Feedback Award-Darkhououmon again receives my vote, because she gives information in a thoughtful and non offensive way. Such as art and writing critique.

Sorry I was so late posting these, but I finally got internet and I’m ready to vote now.  Now keep in mind that my choices in who I vote for might be a bit biased because of my sketchy existence on GOF in the past year.  I haven’t gotten the chance to get to know a lot of the newer members.  Anyways, let’s begin.

Friendly Member Award:  I would definitely choose The Friendly Sharptooth for this award.  Not only does their name imply their friendliness, I’ve never seen them get angry at anyone or act inappropriately in any way on the board.  Quite the opposite in fact.  It was really hard choosing the recipient for this because truthfully you’re all very friendly…but I believe that this member has gone above and beyond what would be considered as a standard generic “friendly” attitude.

Helpful Member Award:  Now this one is pretty difficult to choose as well.  Everyone seems to be pretty helpful.  However, Action9000 gets my vote for this one.  Like myself, he has advanced knowledge in topics that others can barely fathom, yet he treats everyone with respect and goes as slow as they need him to go to get the job done.  He’d be great at computer consulting and I’d probably hire him if we lived closer to one another.  He’s good at what he does and he’s willing to help those in need.  At the same time he doesn’t belittle people who don’t have his knowledge.  These are great characteristics that any helpful member would do well to emulate.

Role Play Gamer Award:  Sorry folks but I really can’t vote for this award.  I never spend time in the RP sections.

Philosopher Award:  Malte most definitely.  There have been a few new members that rival his thoroughness when posting a response, but I still believe he is the philosopher of GOF.  I’ve always had a deep respect for his English abilities that oftentimes rival or surpass my own.  He uses those skills to help express his thoughts in an effective way that makes everyone feel good and leaves little to no room for misinterpretation.  There’s really nothing else that needs to be said.  He deserves this award.

Proactive Member Award:  Oh gee, this is a hard one too.  I guess I’d have to choose lilifot.  Although his efforts to produce a website haven’t bared fruit as of yet, I encourage him to keep on trying.  He simply doesn’t have the knowledge to do such things yet.  But he’s going through college so hopefully he will soon.  He has only the best of intentions and is always trying to make something new.  He reminds me of myself a bit give or take a few aspects.  Keep on trying man and don’t be afraid of failing.  Just don’t post failed projects on GOF and no one will know.  :p

Fanart Award:  Now this award is pretty hard for me as well.  I don’t usually spend much time in the fanart section, and although there are many who create great works of LBT fanart, I like the work of Sky the best.  I haven’t seen him in quite awhile, but if he’s still on and posting fanart, my vote goes for him.  I like his style more than anything else.  I’m not trying to rank down anyone else’s fanart.  But I just don’t think anything can compare to computer animated art.

Projects Award:  Action9000 no question.  Although I haven’t been following the game that closely, I downloaded a copy of it a long time ago and studied the program that’s used to make it and I gotta say it has potential.  Even though I probably won’t be playing it, I know that this game is a significant contribution to the GOF community as well as the LBT world.  I can’t wait to try the latest release and see how far he’s gotten as the master programmer.

Feedback Award:  Ummmmm…I’ve never seen anyone bash someone else’s work, but I have to say that the feedback award must go to Malte.  Being the philosopher of GOF, it’s no wonder he gives so much helpful advice to those who need it.  He tells them things that others might leave out because he has such long and thought out responses.  I certainly appreciated his input when I posted my fanart and projects and I’m sure others appreciate it as well.

The Proactive Member Award[/i]

The Fanart Award [/i] -  Neo[/i],I loved the idea of the gang having Guardians, and his drawings were very good, he has my vote.

The Projects Award[/i] -  Action9000[/i],when I joined the Gof last year in September, it was when I first saw this project, althought I haven't been following this project closely, I did donwload it back then, and after I came back from my 2 months absence It was when I saw the game had had some remarkable breaktroughs.

It is true that all of my votes go to people that I've met here, but at the same time I have done my best to remain impartial. It isn't because I know them that they receive votes me; it just ended up that way, as my decisions here would be unchanged be it that I did not know them. Then again, perhaps I met most of them for the very aspects of the rewards in which I give them recognition for.

Secondly, I do appreciate all of those that took notice of me and mentioned so here.

Category: Friendly Member
My vote goes to: Mumbling
Reasoning: Sometimes I wonder if she ever learned how to be unfriendly, because from what I've seen here, that is a valid thought. From constant replies of kindness to those who address issues here, to lengthy periods of comforting others here outside the forum, it seems being friendly is as natural to her as breathing. Whether she is familiar with the type of difficulty of another or not, she always has time to offer her condolences.

In an older thread, she mentioned believing to be most like Ducky. Ducky seems to have no limit to positive things she can add to a situation; her optimism is rivaled by very few. (Her comment in the ninth movie- "Journey to Big Water"- at the prospect of Mo getting squished verifies this nicely.) She is a good friend that the others truly enjoy being around, because her cheerfulness can be contagious. That being said, it seems Mumbling is also quite skilled in making accurate comparisons.

While the members of this forum certainly display friendliness, the degree to which I see Mumbling express it is why I vote for her here.

Category: Helpful Member
My vote goes to: Landbeforetimelover
Reasoning: I have spoken to Landbeforetimelover three times. Regretably, they were all requests for help, which he took his personal time to help resolve. It is regretable because, I realized that I never had a nice chat with him; I only contacted him for his help. I am truly sorry we only met up for my benefit, and I have no excuse to justify that. My hope is then, that I can rectify that somewhat by expressing just how grateful I am for all that he has done for me. I did give the typical "Thank you", but that doesn't compare to the vast amount of the assisstance he has given me. I am glad I archive messages.

Please note that I only vote for him here for the helpful criteria, and therefore the apology did not influence my choice; I just wanted to provide it on the side.

Here is what I have asked him, and the help he gave in return:

Okay, I see that you're still on the forum. Could you check out my most recent link attempt there? I think I got it now. Could you just let me know if it works this time?

Yup the link works now.

Hi there! Um, I was just looking around your forum, and I was wondering if members are allowed to edit their own posts. There is a member on your forum who will log in, yet the edit post option has never been an option. If only administrators can edit posts, that's fine and all, but a member there was wondering that if it is possible to edit your own posts, how do you do it? Thank you. Later!

I just created a non-admin account to test it out and it works....but sometimes you're not really logged in when you go to make a post. Just look at the top of the screen to make sure it says your username and status at the top of the page (mine says "******* (member)" on my test account and "Austin (Admin)" on my real account). If it says "Anonymous (unregistered)" then you're not logged in.

The member in question needs to sign up for the forum. Being a member of the site and a member of the forum are two different things. He/She has to sign up at the top of the page (below the logo) near the top of the forum page. As of now they can only post anonymously because they're only a member of the website and not the forum:

(Insert very large picture that was personally edited by him to show me a visual of what to do, which I have no way of showing here since I don't have a link to it, just the image.)

Quote
You made a caption thread called "Littlefoot & Chomper." Would you still happen to have that picture before it was edited with words? If so, may I request a copy? I would appreciate it. If you'd rather not, or don't have time, that's perfectly fine as well.
Quote
Sure. Here ya go.

(Insert link to the image.)

I am fairly good at English, such as grammar and sentence structure. Perhaps I should teach Landbeforetimelover how to say, "I won't help you," because he apparently doesn't know about the existance of such a phrase.

Category: Role Play Gamer
My vote goes to: Nick22
Reasoning: Well, I have read RP posts from several members here, and a very large number of them greatly perk my interest as I read their contributions to the topic thereof. Detail, emotion, and action abound in the worlds I explore that are made here. Some write longer posts than others, but I enjoy quality over quantity when I read, so it is quiet often that smaller posts are better reads than the longer ones, but the reverse applies as well at times.

Everyone has their own writing style which aren't better than any other, and they actually tend to compliment each other. Therefore, I can't simply say that I enjoy the RP work of one better than another. Although, as you can see, I cast a vote for this regardless. Knowing that I couldn't make a decision based off face value, I sought another criteria to base my vote on.

I may be able to write RP posts that are enjoyable as well, but I lack greatly in the idea department. I can expand an idea, but I have difficulty creating them in certain areas. I informed Nick22 of this beforehand, and being an old RPer (as in he has RPed for a while, not that he is old) he came up with a system to help me.

He does not write my posts for me, nor does he tell me what to write, as that would defeat the purpose of me being in the Insane Cafe 3. Therefore, he often gave me a theme to write about, such as something romantic with certain characters, or perhaps an expansion of an older scene not yet fully established. If not for that, the frequency of my contributions there would be much less than they are now.

It is true that I could have asked any member for ideas, and I would most likely receive them in return. I did ask Nick22 for ideas, so this isn't just based off that. He would actually notice me online, then voluntarily PM me with various suggestions I could choose from, not just one of them so that I would feel limited. So while I asked on occasion, most of the time he would send me a detailed message with ideas all on his own, proving he didn't give them because he fealt obligated from me asking directly.

That is why I vote for him. He doesn't just RP very frequently with good ideas and detailed posts; he shares his experience to help me rise in that area too.

Category: Philosopher
My vote goes to: Saft
Reasoning: Malte279 is truly a veteran in philosophy. Even now, I find his wisdom unmatched. Therefore, my reasons for Saft's nomination here are a bit more complicated. Malte279 has been indelved in studies a good part of his life. Through much research and personal experiences, he has gathered no small amount knowledge, understanding, and logic. He has truly earned the high quality state of mind he now has. For any issue I have presented, he has always had a high ranking opinion, and he is still the one I seek for most matters.

As for Saft, well, she has had much less personal training and does not have the level of experience Malte279 has gained. Yet, that is what influenced this vote. She has many deep thoughts and much understanding on various issues. She has detailed yet understandable views that open up new possibilities on threads here and contributes so much to them. In all of these things, yes, I do not see Malte279's degree of expertise, but with so much less experience, she certainly has amazing insight on matters here that often trigger much more debate. For that reason, she has my vote.

Category: Proactive Member
My vote goes to: Brekclub85
Reasoning: Many things show just how devoted he is to this place. From moving up in rank at an amazing speed, to starting so many threads in little time, his dedication could not be proven more. How someone can work in so many RP's at once and still write in so many other kinds of sections still amazes me. He adds so much in so many places you'd think he was more than one person, ha ha.

He is so active in sharing his insights on sharpteeth. True, that is the majority of what he covers in writing, but that is why he does so much and so well too. While many are "jack of all trades" as the saying goes, with some things to say on many issues, he is certainly a specialist here, and that makes all of his writing on sharpteeth the high level it is, while being able to write of them so very often. Though his contributions are many, and continue to multiply, the quality never seems to lack. I could think of no one but him when this award was presented.

Category: Fanart
My vote goes to: DarkHououmon
Reasoning: There are many talented artists here, of that, there is no denying: Darkwolf91, Malte279, Lillefot, and the list just continues. Never the less, for a few reasons, one particularly artist caught my eye (literally on the singular form, heh heh).

DarkHououmon does so much more artistic work than just making projects. She made quite the lengthy explanation on how she drew to the extent she does. Tis a case of an expert sharing the personally-used secrets of succes. That certainly shows that she isn't trying to better than others, otherwise she wouldn't have explained how she does what she does. Secondly, she certainly isn't shy about finding out what others wish for her to draw. She'd rather draw what others would like to see as well than simply draw what pleases her most. She has great talent, willingness to reveal how to do it, and a desire to please those around her. Truly a marvelous combination.

Category: Projects
My vote goes to: Action9000
Reasoning: I watched an older video about Action9000's project for a The Land Before Time online role playing game. I must say, a role playing version of that franchise is certainly a very unique and interesting idea. Leading such a great undertaking is truly astounding.

Guiding viewers through his progress, we can see the time, thought, and energy put into it. Even with such skill, he is very modest with his work, frequently admitting early difficulties he had to work out as he progresses through developement. The ground, hills, water, etcetera, are vibrant and come to life as his current work is viewed.

I am not trying to belittle any other The Land Before Time projects, as so many are very good, but I can honestly say that is the most impressive one I've seen to date. The knowledge needed to make such a thing, I cannot comprehend. I give my vote to the leader behind a masterpiece in the making.

Category: Feedback
My vote goes to: Malte279
Reasoning: Considering the frequency of Malte279's renowned feedback on a large number of issues, my decision here was difficult by no means. Although, it can be a bit difficult differentiating between Philosopher and Feedback, because feedback is often judged by how philosophical it is. This award, as mentioned in the rules, focuses on fanart and projects, and not only is his constructive critisism praised there, but his feedback expands all over the forum to a great deal of things, even to members while being away from the forum via chatting.

To give feedback means to
Quote
respond to a query or outcome
(For those who don't know what "query" means, it is a question, or often said-aloud doubt on something.)

Well, there is no possible way to argue the fact that he gives such a thing to match that definition, nor do I believe there to be any doubt here that he gives it so well. Perhaps a little too well though. He gives such sought after feedback to poeple, that it might be best to schedule an appointment being contacting him through an online messenger, or his attention will most likely be divided between six other people at the same time. Yes, he is that popular in the feedback field. (His responses do not lack quality during such multitasking though, which makes him even more amazing when it comes to feedback. I lose significant concentration with only two different chat boxes.)

Based off a list of things,

(1. He gives feedback.

2. It is very insightful, detailed, and understandable.

3. He gives a lot of it.

4. He can give it to many people at one time and still do it well.

5. He is well-known for his feedback in the most positive manor.)

do I nominate Malte279 for this award.

All right! Time to vote!

Friendly Member Award: Mumbling. I have never met anyone so easy to get along with. She's just easy to like.

Helpful Member Award: Kor. He's always there with the facts, right when you need them. He's just awesome.

RPG Award: Pass due to the fact that I wasn't in any RPs.

Philospher Award: The Friendly Sharptooth. His posts are always very well thought out and great to read.

Proactive Member Award: Rat_Lady7. She's started a great deal of interesting topics, and she hasn't been here that long, either.

Fanart Award: Quick question. Does this encompass fanfics, too?

Projects Award: Action9000. Anyone who creates an LBT MMORPG deserves this.

Feedback Award: Serris. He's replied to pretty much every post I've made in my fanfiction thread, even when it wasn't an update.

I think the fanart award is for fanart only. I remember Malte saying that an award for fanfics was too impractical, since a lot of time is required to read all of the many fanfics there are. Not everyone reads fanfics.

The Fanart Award does not encompass fan fics. By the way, whose fan fic would you have been thinking of, Littlefoot1616's Battle of the Sacred Essences?

Actually, I was thinking of more recent fics, namely yours. In any case, my vote for the Fanart Award goes to Darkhououmon for some of the coolest LBT art I've ever seen.

Hey guys!

Thought it was about time I pulled the lead out and actually contributed my penny's worth to the forum. So here goes:

Friendly Member - As most of you have realised, this is probably the toughest category to vote in. I mean, what active members who are on this forum can you say is NOT friendly! Still, after much debate with my own thoughts and experiences with folks on the forum, there is one member I think stands out a little more in my eyes. With her unwavering caring nature and overall optimism is a reputable quality that has only improved the neighbourly essence that this forum is reknown for. That and our random chats are stuff of legend (without them, I wouldn't know what a "stroopwafel" is)! My vote goes to Mumbling

Helpful Member - Again, another doosy of a category. With so many helpful members, it seems impossible to try and select just one. Still, this particular member has always been on the frontline if any a member required assistance with just about anything with a microchip in it. That and his outstanding site which has granted all of us access to the LBT TV series (despite how hit and miss they have been with us). I nominate for this award landbeforetimelover

Role-Play Gamer - It is with regret that I decide to skip this award purely on the basis that I do not engage in the role play stories that take place here. Therefore it would be an unfair judgement on my behalf. Sorry guys but keep on gaming!

Philosopher - With many a wise word been said on the forum regarding a range of topics (be they LBT or otherwise), we have come across a number of philosophers who have parted with pearls of wisdom for support or just general conversation. This one candidate, as lenghty as his posts are as standard, seems to have parted with a wiser word than most. A quality worthy of this award by my views. Congrats to The Friendly Sharptooth

Most Proactive - Being on the receiving end of a suggestion or reacting to post is one thing, but to constantly be up front and centre for every available opportunity and show one's worth an admirable quality to display. To this, I nominate this candidate for her unfaltering commitment to be on this frontline and get her penny's worth in. This award is to you Rat_Lady7

Best Fanart - With so many awesome artists out there on our forum, it again seems almost unthinkable to attempt to try and point out one above the rest. Still, as difficult as it appears, I have selected one who I think has produced some truly remarkable pieces alongside the other budding artists we have here on the GOF. My vote goes to Lillefot for wonderful artist talents he's displayed since his arrival here! Well done sir!

Projects - Plenty of great ideas are never sought to leave the ground they begin upon. It is only with the effort and sheer determination of a project leader who sees a creation through to its dawning moment. Having already done so much for the forum, it is impossible to ignore how much of his time he had dedicated to contributing to the forum in the way of projects. It is with great pleasure I nominate Action9000 for his outstanding efforts with the music projects and the LBT MRPG game. A project I am honoured to be a part of!

Feedback - They say, an artist is only as good as his critic says he is (who ever said that needs a good slap upside his head but anyway). To critique a piece of work and offer their thoughts and views is a great but to be able to offer constructive criticism is an optional quality that few seem to offer. In light of this, I present this award due to his willingness to offer his critique that is fair, with sound judgement and without prejudice. My vote for this award heads out to Malte279

There we go! Those are my contributions. All the best to everyone in the rest of the voting process!  ;)

So, a year passed and it's time for the voting again. It won't be easy for me since I wasn't so active this year. But I'll try...

Friendly Member Award
This one was tricky. I mean, every member here are nice. Yet, I voted for Mumbling. She is always kind to everybody here in the GOF but also outside this forum (like on DeviantArt).

Helpful Member Award
I think I'll vote for landbeforetimelover on this one. If you need any help with computers and electronics, he knows what to do. ;)

Role Play Gamer Award
Skipped - Can't really vote on this one since I wasn't in the RP section that much.

Philosopher Award
This one was tough. I had to decide between Malte and The Friendly Sharptooth on this one. But I voted for The Friendly Sharptooth. He posts long comments, but are really well thought and wise (like Maltes) but I had to decide only for one...

Proactive Member Award
Skipped - Can't really vote on this one since I have absolutely no idea...

Fanart Award
Yes, the fanart award..... first, I want to apologize for my absence on this section. But I have somewhat turned from an LBT artist to an anthro artist. ...
Anyway, I would like to give this award to DarkWolf91. Her fanart looks almost like the original. Especially the Shorty drawings of her avatar and signature. Heh, looks like I found my follower. Ahahaha!

Projects Award
Definitely Action9000. The game makes alot of process. And it looks sweet too. ;)

Feedback Award
On my past experience in the GOF, I'd say Malte is the right person for this. He always gives constructive criticism whether it is fanart or other things.
And I'm sure he is still doing it today. =)

Roleplay Gamer: Brekclub85. His Sharptooth Valley roleplay is rather unique, in my opinion, that offers a new perspective in the LBT universe. Placing carnivores as the good guys is a tricky thing to do, but I think he's managed to pull it off in the Sharptooth Valley roleplay.

Philosopher: Malte279. His understanding of the LBT universe makes him an ideal person to turn to when one wants to create a story that stays within the realm of LBT. He is also able to come up with theories an ideas to explain certain things in the LBT movies, even if they end up being negative (such as the idea that Bron purposely abandoned Littlefoot and his mother or the idea of Mr. Thicknose committing suicide).

Fanart: NeoGenesis005. While I am not a fan of the gang having guardians (partly because I am not very religious), I have to admit I like artwork that Neo has displayed. The designs of his Dinodains are interesting, although I hope to see more variety in his artwork in the future.

Projects: Action9000. His LBT game is quite ambitious and has caught so much attention that many other people have offered their help into bringing the game to life. And the fact that he is still willing to program the game despite being the only programmer, as far as I know, shows how dedicated he is to getting the game ready.

Feedback: Malte279. He's always willing to give advice on how to improve one's artwork, offering tips to how the picture could be better. He also gives advice on fanfiction stories, explaining what he feels won't work or will work.

So after some pondering, I managed to get my votes ready.

Friendly Member Award - Eheh, so many different opinions, but all on the same. GoF is one of the most friendly communities you can find. However, I'd like to award Mumbling for her particular kindness towards all of the members.

Helpful Member Award - I'll skip this one for now.

Philosopher Award - His opinions about much matter very much. Significant and interesting posts are the matter of order in a heated discussion. And I'd say Malte279 has managed to trigger such discussions and has made it in maintaining them interesting. My vote's one him.

Role Play Game Award - Many roleplayers in this list, it's curious. My vote balanced between two for quality and quantity. Despite so, the vote resumes to Nick22 for his active participation in many roleplays. I would call incredible to such disposal in helping out - and roleplaying as well, I've got to thank him quite some times too.

Proactive Member Award - As much as I'd like to follow popularity, I'll try to find motifs before posting this one out.

Fanart Award - My vote hanged on a cliff between two sides. However, I'll cast this vote for Lillefot and his great works on Photoshopping and impressive quality. Need I explain more other than the four word summary for "Congratulations on your fantastic work!"?

Projects Award - This one is the one I had the less time to think of. Action9000 earns this award for his great work on the game project, which turns out to be a great success and which everyone awaits. His continuous job on it made the project quite a solid structure.

Feedback Award - I wish I could skip three votes so I can get them more time to think. <.< BUT I'll vote anyway. Matle279 goes into my voting list once more for his will to help on improvement, giving out advices and such.

So, I'll try to get the two skipped changed if it's even possible.

With the exception of the proactive member award I haven’t made up my mind about yet the Helpful Member Award is probably the most difficult one to decide about as far as I’m concerned. There is a a great abundance of helpfulness among the members of the GOF. I’m in trouble right away for one of the most recent great strikes of helpfulness in the GOF was conducted by three of our members. If it wasn’t for the immediate help of Kor, raga, and DarkWolf91 there just wouldn’t be this vote at this time, simple as that. They quickly provided many of the screenshots needed for the making of the awards. These are the cases where one can get really upset about the fact that one can give only one vote per award. Austin (lanbeforetimelover) also is another member who continues to offer and practice help whenever there is a chance for him to do so. However, there is another member who has been very helpful to me over a long time by sending me episodes of Dink the Dinosaur which would otherwise be totally unavailable unavailable for me. Therefore my vote for the Helpful Member Award goes to Kacie (DarkHououmon).

Now that I actually have enough free time, I'll cast my votes.

Friendly Member - Mumbling
I don't think I've ever had any conversations with her, but based on discussions she's had with other members, I think she is definitely one of the most friendly members here. I would also like to recognize other members that I think should also deserve this vote, but can't due to the voting rules: Kor, Malte279, brekclub85, and The Friendly Sharptooth.

Helpful Member - landbeforetimelover
As most of us know by now, he is an expert at dealing with computer problems. Although I've never had to ask him for computer advice, he has helped me in one way. Last summer, I asked him only to re-size an image I wanted for my avatar. He did that and even went further by removing the background and adding the faded effect at the bottom. Thanks for the awesome avatar! I don't think I'll ever want to change to a different one.

Role Play Gamer - brekclub85
When he offered the chance to participate in the RP Total Drama Valley, I chose to accept. Although it later became a fanfic instead, he asked me to join in TDV2, which I did. I'll admit this might have lead to a small problem (slightly falling behind in school work), but I'm glad I'm getting the chance to participate in an RP before starting my own (which I will, once school is over). I would also like to recognize other members that I think should also deserve this vote, but can't due to the voting rules: Nick22, The Great Valley Guardian, and Myrkin

Philosopher - The Friendly Sharptooth
Despite his currently limited activity, he already has been making an impact here. I'll admit, I never thought anyone would write posts as long and thoughtful as Malte until he came along. If you're willing to read his long posts, you can see that he really does think through about what he says (perhaps a little too much, some might say). Also, considering how well he thinks things through, I decided to ask him for comments on my fanfic. Perhaps he might be willing to help me in editing it.

Proactive Member - brekclub85
What can I say? He's written two very good fanfics and started a few RPs, one of which I'm currently participating in. Also, for someone who joined recently, he has quite a high post count. (I think the rate he posts is just as much as Kor, and I think the only reason Kor has ten thousand more posts is because he joined a full year earlier.) Thanks for giving me the opportunity to RP before I start my own RP.

Fanart - Lillefot
I don't think he has posted any fanart in the last few months, but based on fanart I've seen over the past year, I think Lillefot has quite some talent. I would also like to recognize Darkhououmon for her fanart for brekclub85's fanfic 'Sharptooth Valley'.

Projects - Action9000
This vote is pretty much unanimous. The LBT game he is currently working on is almost certainly a first for all LBT fans. I haven't tried the game, myself, but based on the comments I've read, it definitely seems to be making good progress.

Feedback - Malte279
Last year, I voted based on quantity, which was Kor. This year, I'm voting based on quality, which is Malte279. In many discussions, he often makes long and thoughtful posts, and his viewpoints are often easy to agree with, due to his willingness to look at both sides of the argument. I would also like to recognize The Friendly Sharptooth for his just as thoughtful posts. (Since he has not yet sent me any comments on my fanfic, I'm not sure how well his feedback is, so that's why I chose not to vote for him.)

After a week of thinking, I think I've made the best choices I could come up with.

First off, I want to thank everyone who has voted for me. :)

I'll start off with these two awards, as I need more time on the other ones.
Here goes!

Roleplay gamer: This person is a highly talented roleplay gamer, with a head for ideas and mind blowing plots, which he not only uses in the RP section, but for his exelent fanfics aswell! He plays his characters extremly well. He has been sharing his talents to help others, including myself. A very good friend, and my closest companion in the RP section!
I give my vote for Roleplay gaming 2009 award to LBTfan13.

Projects award: We have many talented folks around here, each with his/her own speciality. We have singers with beautiful voices, such as Mumbling and LBTfan13.
However, there's one who've done something out of the ordinary, and I want to give him some credit by placing my vote on him. Therefor, I vote Tim (action9000) and his exelent work with the LBT roleplay game for the Projects award 2009.

With regard to the Proactive award I should begin by pointing out that this award voting probably would not be held at this time, but rather with some more delay if it had not been for the approach of LBTFan13 who sent me a message offering his help and that of others he had been talking to in creating the award drafts. I’m still deep into university work, but there is almost always a way to get things done somehow and his message probably gave me (figuratively speaking) the kick I needed to get working on the awards even though the actual suggestion itself, to turn the award making into something of a more public project had been overruled. Compared to the last years there haven’t been too many large changes about the structure of the GOF as such. Some steps had been undertaken to make the AM section a less public place. There have been some new regulations with regard to the size of avatars and signatures. And subforums have been created on behalf of two GOF projects. Adam (Petrie) continues to do a great job when it comes to alteration of the GOF’s appearance for special holidays (e.g. Christmas and Easter) and it is due to his initiative that the coloring of the GOF was changed to a more green appearance. He is also often the one to put the proactive suggestions of others into effect. Gustav (Lillefot) was made a mod in the RPG section among other for his reccommendation for the post by other Role Play Gamers, which goes to show he has been proactive in this section. Of all the awards this one was one of the most difficult for me to decide about and I do admit that this time I was strongly influenced by the votes already cast. One of our members has done one simple thing that had a great positive effect on the atmosphere in the GOF. I’m talking of Rat_Lady7’s Member Appreciation thread for which I intended to give her my vote on the Appreciated member award. The way it looks she is very likely to get the Proactive Award which and the Appreciated Member Award can go only to those who did not receive another award. Considering the profound positive effect this thread (one of the most sensible ever posted in the GOF) had on the GOF I think it can be seen as proactive enough to be taken into account along with the general frequent contributions of her. Therefore my vote for the Proactive Member Award goes to Rat_Lady7.

STOP! EVERYONE READ THIS!
The voting upon the "Appreciated Member Award" has not yet started and it won't before the closing of all the other votes. The central point about the "Appreciated Member Award" is that it is voted upon only after all other votes have been issued and only those can be nominated for it who did not receive any other award. The votes for the "Appreciated Member Award" can be cast from May 24th to May 31st.

I assumed it would be another thread, with maybe a list of who qualifies for the appreciated member or who does not.

I decided to add one more vote in category "Fanart Award". I have to say that there is many people who can drawn a good picture (NeoGenesis and DarkWolf for example), but I can cast only one vote, which goes to DarkHououmon, for his drawings to "Sharptooth Valley". The alternative (sharptooth) version of LBT characters is something really great.

Edit: I skipp other two awards (Helpful Member and Feedback).

It would be easier if everyone did not do that.  Just put any votes you didn't cast before in a new reply...its easier for us to track what has been tallied and what has not.

Thanks.

Moving on...
Here I complete my voting!

Friendly Member: This one was hard. Very hard. So many people here deserves this award indeed. There are people who've made more special impressions to me. You know who you are I hope, because I am not going to write a list on this one.
I don't belive in lists when it comes to friendliness.
Anyway, the person who I give my vote for has become a real friend to me, a person who fill in all the definitions of a real friend. I've seen him many times around here, radiating such harmony and peace. A truly strong and noble person he is, accepting hard times and willing to give assisstance to others.
And with our second trip in Januar this year, he had invited me to the best week in my entire life. Something I shall never forget.
Because of this, I'm voting for Patrick (Nimrod) for the Friendly Member award 2009.

Philosopher: I've met few persons who has shown so exelent wisdom and interessting thoughts, ideas and opinions. And with such a talented way of expressing them! Not only on LBT, but everything between earth and heaven. He has really made a remarkable impression to me. Sometimes he has shown that one doesn't need sleeping darts to make someone fall asleep! :lol
And he still has my wallet in his posession!
Malte for Philosopher 2009.

Fanart 2009: Being an artist myself, I've looked alot on other member's artwork around here. All of them are highly talented artists indeed!
Darkwolf, Neo, Mumbling, Sky are names that comes to mind.
However, one of us has shown a frequent passion for drawing over the last half-year, and has some truly remarkable talents up her sleave.
I'm truly inspired of her skills to being able to draw many different species, something she shown with her fanart for the Sharptooth Valley saga.
Kacie (DarkHououmon) is an awesome artist, and therefor I give her my vote for the Fanart Award 2009.

Proactive member: The GoF Party Room is the true definition for this award!
Since about 3/4 year back, that place had litterly exploded with topics, games, jokes and funny movies.
Many members are responisble for this! Guilty ones are Rat_Lady, Brekclub, Myrkin, Nick and Babidikrakenguard.
But there's one person who seem to be everywhere, and is frequently creating new games and evaluations.
Rat_Lady has my vote for the Proactive member award 2009.

Helpful member 2009: This one goes to Iris (Mumbling). I've heard nothing but good words about her helping out others with a various of things, including myself.
She's very supporting and gentle, and able to lit the spirit within many of us!

Feedback award: And my last vote goes to Malte. Wherever I go on GoF, Malte has been there and shared his opinion, given encouragement or constructive critisism. He always seem to have something to say.

Friendly Member: NeptuneNavigator2001. He is mostly laid-back and easy-going, judging from the conversations I have with him.

Helpful Member: Landbeforetimelover. His knowledge of computers has benefited members in the past. His willingness to provide LBT episodes when Action was no longer able to was also a big help for LBT fans. Another thing he's done to help was provide a website where people can upload to without fear of it getting taken down.

Proactive Member: Rat_Lady7. She is one of the most active members I've seen. She has also started multiple different topics, some of which touching up on some rather controversial issues.

The problem with you updating your old post NN2001 is that we now do not know which ones you've added. Your previous votes have already been logged. Would you mind tell us which ones you've added so we can update your status.

To anyone else who still have votes to cast. PLEASE DO NOT UPDATE YOUR PREVIOUS POSTS! All previous votes up to this point have been recorded! Just add your new ones as a new post/reply. It's a lot easier for us to record your outstanding votes this way.

Thanks in advance guys ;)

Oh, oops, sorry about that. :p Old habit. I'll just cut and paste from my other post, moving them over here. ;)

EDIT: Here's the rest of my votes, cut and pasted from my other post. ;)

Projects: My vote goes to Action9000 for the daunting task of starting and making great progress on his LBT RPG game - which we all hope to play when it's done. :p

Philosopher: Kor was my choice for this award. During the times when I used to visit the various LBT discussion threads, I found many of his posts to be intriguing and interesting. Quite a few of them have made me think about aspects of LBT that I might have never considered before.

Proactive Member: After reading through the noteworthy qualifications for this award (LBT webpages included), one member stood out for me, making this choice rather easy: Landbeforetimelover. His LBT server, and his GOF backup site in case the GOF goes down, are two achievements which stand out in my mind as having a positive impact on this community as a whole. Way to go. :)

There we go. Now to relax and let go of the anxiety and panic that came when I realized I didn't have enough votes cast.

Fanart: Darkhououmon, for her Sharptooth Valley saga drawings.

Projects: Action9000, for his work on the LBT Roleplaying game.

Helpful: Landbeforetimelover, for the work he did in providing the episodes after Action was no longer able to.

Feedback: Malte, for his very helpful comments in the projects section.

Proactive: Rat_Lady7, for her frequent postings in the games section.

Philosopher: Malte, for his very deep impressions on a number of topics.

Friendliest Member: Darkhououmon, for her warm demeanor whenever she is on.

Role Playing: I have yet to participate in any of the RPs, so I must skip this nomination.

Okay I'm inputting my final vote now!

Feedback Award: This one was easier for me to pick than some of the others. This award from me will go to Malte. Aside from him being one of our admins, he always has an argument for both the positive and negative points of view, and when he responds to a thread you can be sure he will weigh both sides of the argument before giving his final say.

Two more:
Helpful member:Nick22, rather difficult as there have been many helpful people around.  But, I've seen that Nick is always willing to give help when asked.

Proactive member:I'd have to say Ratlady as so far I've seen many new (and interesting threads) that are garnered by her.

Friendly Member Award: This one goes to Lillefot. He has been such a good friend to me in times when I needed him and when I was with him in our skiing trip. He tought me alot about photoshop these times and I am thankful for this. He just seems to get along with everybody. I had many friends at my home as he was there. And we all had alot of fun.

I would have liked to vote for Malte as well. But I had to make a decission. And that means not that I like one of these two guys more than the other one. They are both great :-)

Helpful Member Award: This one now goes to Malte now. He was such a great help as I needed it for school or for decisions to make. He helped me alot with geography :p You really deserve this one mate ;-)

Role Play Gamer Award: This one is hard to vote for. But from all I¥ve seen I think Brecklub really deserves this one. He opened so many new RPGs and is a very good Rper as well.

Philosopher Award: The Friendly Sharptooth. Do I have to say more? :p His posts are just so interesting to read and he has a interesting view about certain things :)

Proactive Member Award: I won¥t vote for this if it¥s okay. Because I can¥t really tell

Fanart Award: This one goes definitly to Lillefot. Mate, your art is awesome and I love IT!!

Projects Award: Action9000. It¥s awesome what this guy did out of an idea yet. This online rpg will be awesome.

Feedback Award: Kor. He gives feetbacks to almost every topic

Proactive Member - Rat_lady7, i believe she's one of the most active members of GOF and one of most energetic too(6,9 posts per day that's quite a lot). :)

^ Aye, without the explanation lines the vote doesn't count. Earlier votes without explanations will not be counted during the tally if the explanations are not provided on this 24th of May (so please, everyone who voted without the explanations please do post those lines or in some cases there may be ugly surprises).
As the final tally's don't stand yet and some votes may still be coming in the appreciated member vote should not start before tomorrow. In addition to that we may have to run several tie-breaking votes in cases of awards where several members reached the same number of votes.

Where do I vote?  Here?  And is it my understanding that you can only vote for someone who wasn't nominated for an award?

But this is where it gets confusing.  If the people who won an award aren't announced until the end of the Appreciated Member Award voting, then how do I know that the person I vote for won't get an award from the regular award sections?

Let me clarify., this only refers to this year. so if someone has won an award in  some catergory this year, then that person cannot also be the Appreciated Member for this year..

If you have been keeping tabs of the vote tally thread, then you hasve a good idea how the awards will go..at this late point there are only a couple awards that are not runaways for one poster..

Okay.  Thank god.  That sure clears it up.  Thanks for explaining that to me.  I was wondering how the heck I was supposed to do this, and I was worried because I thought the deadline for the Appreciated Member award was the same as the deadline for the regular awards. :bang It wasn't this confusing last year.......
