Hey everyone, i've recently gone onto my youtube channel and someone claims i stole their username? how the **** is that possible??? :blink: i came up with the name ages ago...any ideas on how i can prove it?

I would just ignore them, personally. I don't think it's that uncommon for people to accidentally come up with the same usernames or very similar usernames. I don't think it's really worth getting all worked up about. I'd say just ignore their comments for now, but if they continue to pester you, either explain to them that you did not steal the username and had come up with it years ago or block them if they aren't going to be reasonable.

ok, i'll try to reason with him. i'll tell him to type in 'metadude1234' in the google searc bar it comes up with everything i have ever been on.

Its best to settle with them first. Ignoring them will make them likely to start spreading rumors.

If it were something more severe, I'd agree with you. But I don't think usernames are worth much hassle if it can be avoided.

Unfortunately there are a lot of "Waluigifan"s on the net... for example this Waluigifan:

But he closed his account, and fortunately he has never complained about that I "stole" his username (if you look at my YouTube page, you'll see that my name is "Waluigifan").

However, if anyone complained about that I stole someone's username, I would say that the internet is free and everyone is free to use the username they want (the only exception is if someone licensed his username, but I don't think that's possible).

Since my username is the name an actual group of people (cancerians who were born in 1986 or other years of the Tiger), the only things that show up on Google are horoscopes and matchmaking sites

Don't take it personal. There's going to be a lot of people that will complain about the stupidest things just for attention. Just ignore them unless they start to really get on your nerves.

I agree with Kacie. Usernames are really not too serious to take drastic action so soon.

what i would do is, first just delete their comment and ignore them then if they continue i would either report them to youtube or block them

Heh, I thought I was the only one with this problem! Try to reason with him, if he's willing to listen. I'm sure he'll come around eventually. In my case I convinced the guy who was also using jedi472 to change his username, but occasionally I still see my name on sites I've never been to.

Anyways, you should just try to ignore that guy, Metadude. He's not worth your time, and he's probably just trying to troll you. Either that, or he's just jealous.

Write his quotes on your description and label it as a hall of fame

Trolling is never a good idea. Troll him back you yourself could end up banned for harrassment. Is trolling really worth it when you risk getting yourself banned just as easily as the other person? It would be a good idea to completely abandon the idea of trolling in any situation. It's never a good thing. And it makes you look very immature, in my opinion.
