Very imaginative and funny. Loved the "What species is this?" scene.

Hey I have sisters too and they can be a pain, but they're my family and that's that. We all have sibling drama. :)
Hey I see you're from Kentucky. Which part? My mom's family is from the Glasgow area. I think I still have a couple cousins there, and I haven't been through KY in ages.

Would you believe I got paid to test bras? This was a few years ago and I got in on a lot of market research projects. Amazing that one can earn extra money just to try and evaluate all kinds of products from cat food to laundry soap.

Now, about the bras. I am a..ahem.. full figured gal, and I was hired to try out a variety of not-yet-on the market bras for two weeks. Yes I got paid well but I also came away hating underwires. Ouch! :lol One I gave high marks is still on the market, a design I still wear with much success.

Anyway, my market research days are pretty much over but I still qualify for the occasional study.

What are your favorite dinosaur movies outside LBT?

General Land Before Time / Saddest/ most emotional scenes/ songs
« on: February 28, 2013, 04:09:24 PM »
By far the saddest is Littlefoot's mom's death scene and the few moments leading up to. That sequence so reminds me of Bambi's mom death. We don't see her die on camera but just watching Bambi call out to his mother...OK, I'm starting to tear up.

Same thing with LBT. After the violence and destruction we see Littlefoot calling for his mother, picking his way through the ruins. Then the inevitable, and we see her die on camera. I don't recall too many movies of this kind that actually show a parent dying. I swear there was not one dry eye in the theater the first time I saw LBT, and that included kids, teenagers, and adults.  :cry

And how old are your sisters? If they're quite older than you then it may be a generation thing. They probably consider LBT for babies, so the "they're ugly" comments are directed at you because they feel you're getting too old to like cartoons.

Big deal. I have elderly relatives (80-90+)who love LBT, Disney, and Dreamworks animated movies. No complaints there, and you'll never catch any of them telling a kid, no matter what age, that such are for babies.

Then again, beauty's in the eye of the beholder. You know what pleases you. Their loss, your gain. :)

It'll be five years for me come June. How time flies when we're having fun.  :lol  To have so many here who've been active 5 years and more speaks volumes of LBT fandom's longevity.

Congrats on your milestone, Iris.  :celebrate

The Fridge / what do you use to be online?
« on: January 16, 2013, 07:37:28 PM »
I mostly use my trusty Dell desktop at home. It's never failed me. There's the laptop at work but those keys are so small. I also use the tablet but mostly if I'm on the road or to do a quick task (Facebook post, email, tweet, download an ebook, etc.) before bed.

And would you believe I still have my sister's old Jurassic Era WebTV appliance (circa 1999) hooked to my bedroom TV. I only use it a couple times a week to keep up with old webtv email pals who refuse to move with the times. They really cling to this machine though it's so outdated, slow, and can't access sites worth a darn.

General Land Before Time / Michael York's health
« on: January 12, 2013, 05:59:18 PM »
My mom has multiple myeloma, and you're right. It's not curable, just treatable to where it doesn't advance too much. Her father had it too, and he lived to a ripe old age of 93. Surprisingly that's not what ended his life.
The treatment is a round of mild chemo every 4 months, but it is chemo with all the side effects. Mom had hers 2 weeks ago and the nausea and lack of appetite set in almost right away. :(

Hope Michael will do OK with his treatment. Cancer is a vicious disease and it can go either way. Praying for him, and my mom.

Typical stuff: Sleep pants and tops, sweaters, fancy perfumes and soaps (are they trying to tell me something? :lol), Downton Abbey Season 2, a couple cookbooks, Julia Child's bio, a bottle of wine, and loads fo chocolate.

LBT Projects / Land Before Time Character maker
« on: December 16, 2012, 06:17:04 PM »
That is a wonderful idea. I'd try but I'm not that graphics program inclined. Those makers take many weeks to develop.  I use Doll Divine frequently and know that site has a Facebook page. It would worth a shot to ask "Can we have a dinosaur maker a la Land Before Time?" I wouldn't mind a dinosaur maker period!

1988 Theatrical Release / Has anyone ever worried...
« on: November 26, 2012, 03:57:06 PM »
I actually sit and listen to the closing song while the credits roll. It's like sitting in church after the benediction and listening to the organist play the postlude instead of getting up because we're in a hurry to go to Point B.  Hey, a lot of work goes into both and I've always appreciated a musician's efforts, so I sit and listen. :yes

A few years ago when I was substitute teaching in a first grade class, I brought a VHS copy of LBT. Some of these kids hadn't seen the original movie but where very much into dinosaurs and were familiar with the characters.  I also found out one of the room mothers was (still is) a big Diana Ross fan. Her daughter knew all about Ross and the Supremes, Motown, the whole bit. At the end instead of hitting Stop I just let it play through. Yes, Ms. Ross was a big selling point, but the words really hit home for us. I worked in 'hoods and schools where people don't always get along, and conflict is often settled with varying degrees of violence. Listening to the song really puts that "Can't we all get along?" into perspective.

1988 Theatrical Release / Anniversary of The Land Before Time
« on: November 20, 2012, 03:08:05 PM »
I'd like to see a LBT 25th anniversary combo pack and lots of bonus material. Deleted scenes, audio commentary, interviews with the original voice actors, a tribute to those actors who've passed on (Kenneth Mars, Pat Hingle, Judy Barsi), some decent interactive extras. But we can only wish.

LBT meets Downton Abbey. Cera, trapped in a time warp finds herself in post-WWI Yorkshire. She wisely advises Lady Edith Crawley to "Come on, find a nice guy, marry him, and one-up you sister!" What would the dowager countess' witty response be to that? :lol

Welcome to the Gang of Five. You'll love it here!  :D Any favorite LBT movies and/or TV episodes? So you're a culinary specialist. Is that the same as a chef? What is your specialty?
Next to classical and jazz musicians, chefs have a special place in my heart. Gotta have both good music and good food.  :lol
