Title: Possible Wikipedia filth
Post by: Manny Cav on July 24, 2007, 02:45:37 PM
After browsing Wikipedia today, I noticed some odd references to the un-aired episode, "The Longneck and the Cobbler." Here's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Littlefoot) an example of such. Look at the "Portrayer" section. It says right next to Aaron Spann that he did the voice for Littlefoot in LBT XI and -- get this -- an episode that hasn't supposed to have even been aired yet! This strongly implies that the episode has aired, but I believe it hasn't. Are we being bamboozled here? I for one don't trust a lot of what I read on Wikipedia. I think this is just a "fun little joke" someone is trying to do.

Also, I've seen particular reference in another article, but I think it got edited out.

Can't tell for sure.  I don't know who edits the LBT wikipedia sections.  Its nobody from this forum.

It could be that the episode has already been produced, but not aired... doesn't logical, but you never know....

We can't trust on that kind of information when it comes from wikipedia, it's proven wrong many times in the past. However it's also been right, we'll just have to wait and see. Any news from our canadian budys?

I've been editing Wikipedia, but I've always put in information that I can verify 100%, such as the majority of the aired episode synopsis/songs.  I tend not to believe the other stuff that I see, but I don't touch them either.  It sickens me when people put in stuff that can't be verified, and I'm removing them from the page when I get the chance.  Latest one is a rumour of a movie called "Chomper's Return".  It'd be cool, but it's totally unverifiable until we get some actual proof.

As for the new episodes in Canada, there hasn't been any new episodes for almost 3 weeks, and YTV is still showing Transformers this week.  I guess the best we can do is check their website.  I'll still be recording at that same time to make sure they haven't messed up their scheduling, but I'll definitely see if it's on YTV.

Wikipedia can be quite helpful to get some information on many matters. The land before time is none of these matters however. All too often LBT information posted on Wikipedia turned out to be rumors, wishful thinking, plain nonsense or all of the above.

Wikipedia isn't bad for entertainment subjects....anything else, look for something more reliable.

I would put it almost exactly the other way round Petrie. Most of the nonsense I have read at Wikipedia was about entertainment subjects such as movies. Most of the history articles are not too bad, especially when they come with footnotes (of course they still are not fit to be quoted in scientific writing, but they may give you some good hints for further research for more reliable sources).
You won't usually find any sources in articles where Joe Public wrote about a movie he liked or disliked.

Possibly too much. There are some articles you might really want to read.

Agreed.

99.999% of the crap at Wikipedia is related to pop culture.

The articles relating to history and the natural sciences are actually quite good.

Also, the worst articles are things that wouldn't appear in a regular encyclopedia.

I did see an article on Wiki today about another episode. I'm still doubtful of its existance but it's more realistic for this episode to appear. It's called The Return of the Egg Stealers.

I will set this stright for you, that Egg stealer episode..... DOES NOT LIVE. I where told by Aria and her mum that there are only 26 episodes not 27 not 28 episodes on season 1.

If there a season 2 I am sure Aria will let me know if there is one or any extra episodes.

Hope that set everything straight for you guys.

Don't pay any mind to Wikipedia's info on the LBT series; it's so crap .  Probably some egghead posting BS on eps that are nonexistent.

It could be that, wishful thinking, or they may have heard something about an episode that is about eggs, without any detail, and thought it would feature the egg thieves from the second movie.  Which anyone who's seen it knows it does not, but they may not have gotten any details but a vague rumor.

Well who knows if this is even an episode and if there is a season two then this episode would most likely go in that classification. I wonder who got the information on "Return of The Egg Stealers" and posted it on wikipedia.org. I mean it looks real, but is still a rumor though.

We may never know, unless one can see who edited and added in that section.

Well like Threehorn said there is only 26 episodes and until further notice we don't know if their will be future seasons.

Maybe to early to tell, not sure when cartoon network or animated shows, or any shows, announce if there will be another season or not.
