Title: Songs that fit the characters
Post by: Allicloud on June 23, 2011, 02:51:57 PM
This was something I touched on while on my way to work today. I was listening to a bunch of songs on my ipod, and I started thinking, what songs that I know would describe each character in LBT? That aren't related to LBT already?

Here are the ones I got so far:

Spike- What a Wonderful World, by Louis Armstrong. This is for 2 big reasons. First of all, the lyrics of the song basically reflect Spike's worldview, where everything is pleasant and pretty, days are relaxed, and life is generally good. The other reason is a bit more obvious: Spike sounds just like Louis Armstrong.

Littlefoot- Who Says You Can't Go Home, by Bon Jovi. This is another favourite of mine, and it reflects a real mood for adventure and travel, going off on great journeys. But it also muses on how no matter where the vocalist ends up, his home is always the same. Here are a few lyrics that really matched his personality:

"Every step I take,
I know that I'm not alone
You take the home from the boy,
but not the boy from his home."

"Who says you can't go home?
There's only one place where they call me one of their own,
Just a hometown boy, born a rolling stone."

Cera- Strange Things, by Randy Newman. This song is basically about a secure and confident protagonist becoming challenged by a flashy newcomer (Part of the soundtrack for Toy Story). It basically reflects her feelings towards any newcomer, be it Mo, Ali or Tricia. She always becomes jealous and insecure when someone new steals the spotlight from her.

Eh, why not?

Littlefoot - My Immortal by Evanescence. It really seems to fit him, in the first movie at least. How he can't let the memory of his mother go and how it kind of "haunts" him in the back of his mind and always keeps coming back to him. It's also pretty gloomy, like the atmosphere of the first movie.

Yeah, I had one for Cera but then I lost it. :p

Pieces-Sum 41 fits Pterano perfectly. Read the lyrics below and it'll explain everything.

I tried to be perfect
But nothing was worth it
I don't believe it makes me real
I thought it'd be easy
But no one believes me
I meant all the things I said

If you believe it's in my soul
I'd say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I'm better off on my own

This place is so empty
My thoughts are so tempting
I don't know how it got so bad
Sometimes it's so crazy
That nothing can save me
But it's the only thing that I have

If you believe it's in my soul
I'd say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I'm better off on my own

On my own

I tried to be perfect
It just wasn't worth it
Nothing could ever be so wrong
It's hard to believe me
It never gets easy
I guess I knew that all along

If you believe it's in my soul
I'd say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I'm better off on my own

If Pterano wrote a song, it would be quite similar to this, don't you think? :lol

Here's the song if ya wanna hear it. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&...fGkC9rmrwUVYEIw (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CC0QtwIwAw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DymUTWzsoiIg&ei=mrMDTuqrNMbfiAKjurSaDg&usg=AFQjCNHkeL1T5miKYT5fGkC9rmrwUVYEIw)

It's funny, there's a Pterano tribute with this song as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvPoFV6Q1BA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvPoFV6Q1BA)

Cera - The Best Damn Thing by Avril Lavigne.  Yayz! I got it back. So, I was just listening to the song and then I realized, "Hey, this fits Cera pretty well." I got into the lyrics and realized, yeah, it fits. The reason I think it does is because she's always talking about how she'll be able to do things so much better than they others and how she isn't scared of anything. Basically, she's herself, and she's saying that she's the best.

Littlefoot's mom: If We Hold On Together. I remember as a child, I used to think she sung it.  :slap  :lol . The song does fit her.

found another Pterano song. "Paradise Lost" - Symphony X.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyvOJlX4ZkE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyvOJlX4ZkE)

In the cold misty morning
 gleaming rays awake the dawn
Here I stand - a stranger in this land
 does your conscience betray you?
 falling from grace -
feel the sun on my face
 does desire still hold true?

Mystified by her beauty -
does the hunter pity his prey?
 Under starless skies all
Love must die and fade away

Take my hand - divine or damned
Make a stand, seize the day
Yours or mine, damned of divine
Draw the line, come what may...

Looking down from ethereal skies
 Silent crystalline tears I cry
For all must say their last goodbye -
 to Paradise

My yearning is silenced by angelic skin of white
Love conquers all for heaven's fall
 this faithful night.
Yours or mine - damned of divine
 Draw the line - serpentine...

Love is a tragedy
all that I have, all that I'll ever need
 is right here inside
Let the winds of freedom be my guide

Looking down from Ethereal Skies
 Silent crystalline tears I cry
For all must say their last goodbye -
 to Paradise

Looking down from Ethereal Skies
 Silent crystalline tears I cry
For all must say their last goodbye -
 to Paradise
 Say goodbye, goodbye, hold on!

...so I've cheated and I've lied
been the victim of foolish pride
and I've begged and I've crawled
and I've battled and bled for it all
 now I'll savor the downfall...
 of Paradise

Looking down from Ethereal Skies
 Silent crystalline tears I cry
For all will say their last goodbye
 to Paradise

and heres another one.

Run the World (Girls) - Beyonce

Flyers, we run this motha (yeah!) x4
 FLYERS!

Who run the world? Flyers! x4
Who run this motha? Flyers! x4
Who run the world? Flyers! x4

[Beyonce - Verse 1]

Some of them men think they freak this like we do
 But no they don't
Make your cheques come at they neck,
 Disrespect us no they won't

Boy don't even try to touch this
 Boy this beat is crazy
This is how they made me
 Houston, Texas baby
This goes out to all my girls
That's in the club rocking the latest
Who will buy it for themselves and get more money later

I think I need a barber
None of these ** can fade me
 Im so good with this,
I remind you im so hood with this

Boy im just playing, come here baby
Hope you still like me, ** pay me
My persuasion can build a nation
Endless power, our love we can devour
 You'll do anything for me

[Chorus]

Who run the world? Flyers! x4
Who run this motha? Flyers! x4
Who run the world? Flyers! x4

[Beyonce - Verse 2]

It's hot up in here
DJ don't be scared to run this, run this back
I'm repping for the girls who taking over the world
Have me raise a glass for the college grads

Anyone rolling I'll let you know what time it is
 You can't hold me
I broke my 9 to 5 and copped my cheque

This goes out to all the women getting it in,
 Get on your grind
To the other men that respect what I do
 Please accept my shine

Boy you know you love it
How we're smart enough to make these millions
Strong enough to bare the children
 Then get back to business
See, you better not play me
 Don't come here baby
 Hope you still like me
 ** pay me!

[Bridge]

My persuasion can build a nation
 Endless power
 Our love we can devour
 You'll do anything for me

[Chorus]

Who run the world? Flyers!
 Who run this motha? Flyers!
 Who run the world? Flyers!

Who are we?
 What we run?
 The world!

(Who run this motha?)

Who are we?
 What we run?
 The world!

(Who run this motha?)

Who are we?
 What do we run?
 We run the world!

(Who run this motha?)

Who are we?
 What we run?
 We run the world!

Who run the world? FLYERS!!!!

:lol Can any of you imagine Pterano singing this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmMU_iwe6U (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmMU_iwe6U)

...and doing the chicken dance thingy... :lol  :lol  :lol  :lol  :lol

:lol Notice how I changed "Girls" into "Flyers"? :lol

LOL, nicely done. Though I do find it kinda funny how you chose Paradise Lost by Symphony X, since that's the title track from an album where every song is sung fro the point of view of Lucifer himself.

Here's one for Pterano's megalomaniacal egotistical side:

I`m the biggest, I`m the best
I`m better than the rest
I`m bad, I`m worst, I rule
I`m better than the rest

I`m a sinner, I`m a saint
I`m tough not faint
I`m smart, I`m rough so cool
I`m better than the rest

A perfect, a perfect day

Welcome to a perfect day, a perfect place to be
All the best that life can give, is not good enough for me
Welcome to a perfect time, a perfect unity
The best is only good enough, good enough for me

I`m sexy, I`m hot
I`m right on the spot
I`m clever, however, I`m cool
I`m better than the rest

I`m a rebel, a rocker
A  bloody motherf*cker
I`m hard as a rock, so rude
I`m better than the rest

A perfect, a perfect day

Welcome to a perfect day, a perfect place to be
All the best that life can give, is not good enough for me
Welcome to a perfect time, a perfect unity
The best is only good enough, good enough for me

Welcome, welcome to the joy of life

And here's one from the same band, that's basically spot on with the Gang's schmalzy, cliche team-ethic:

Carry on, carry on
The chanting has begun
A hymn of fame and glory – forever
And ride on, ride on
In union we are strong
A symphony for freedom and glory

We are strangers in a strange land
We are born as renegades
And show the world what they should see
When we are standing at the crossroads
Revolution is our way
We’re breaking down the walls of hate

Carry on, carry on
The chanting has begun
A hymn of fame and glory – forever
And ride on, ride on
In union we are strong
A symphony for freedom and glory

We are guardians of the future
Defenders of our faith
And we are bound for victory
When our hearts call for rebellion
We’re raising our hands up to the sky
And tell the world to turn away from darkness

Carry on, carry on
The chanting has begun
A hymn of fame and glory – forever
And ride on, ride on
In union we are strong
A symphony for freedom and glory

Both are by Freedom Call, a German power-metal band (Big surprise). The first is called A Perfect Day, and the other is called Carry On, probably one of my favourite of their songs. Just big, anthemic, and corny as hell!

We are one
 We are one
 We are one
 We will stand together
 Number one
 Number one
 The chosen ones
 We are one
 We are one
 We will fight forever
We are one and we won't tire

Fires At Midnight by Blackmore's Night(Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JWvrqqC_I4&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JWvrqqC_I4&feature=related) )  fits Grandma Longneck quite well(it also fits the matriarch from the 4th film).

"I stood out here once before
With my head held in my hands
For all that I had known of this place
I could never understand…

On the hills the fires burned at midnight
Superstition plagued the air
Sparks fly as the fires burn at midnight
The stars are out and magic is here…

I wished on the seven sisters
Bring to me wisdom of  age
All that's locked within the book of secrets
I longed for the knowledge of a sage…

On the hills the fires burned at midnight
Superstition plagued the air
Sparks fly as the fires burn at midnight
Stars are out the magic is here
The stars are out the magic is here…

So, the sisters smiled to themselves
And they whispered as they shone
And it was from that very instant
I knew I would never be alone…

While on the hills
The fires burned at midnight
Superstition plagued the air
Sparks fly as the fires burned at midnight
Stars are out and magic is here
The stars are out and the magic is here…
Many stars were forgotten
Many faded and became ghosts
Still my sisters glittered down from heaven
Always there when I needed them most…

And on the hills the fires burned at midnight
Superstition plagued the air
Sparks fly as the fires burn at midnight
Stars are out and magic is here
The stars are out and magic is here…

I stood here once before
With my head in my hands
For all that I had known of this place
I could never understand

On the hills the fires burned at midnight
Superstition plagued the air
Sparks fly as the fires burn at midnight
Stars are out and magic is here
Stars are out and magic is here
Stars are out and magic is here
Stars are out and magic is here"

"Superman(It's not easy)", by Five for Fighting, sort of fits Doc. A lot of dinosaurs see him as a hero, but he simply sees himself as just another person (or dinosaur, in this case.) He's sort of equivalent to superman in the LBT universe

Oh, and "If it makes you happy" by Sheryl Crow fits Littlefoot at the end of 1 because they've defeated Sharptooth and Petrie is alive but yet he's still miserable when he goes up tot the cliff. But in reality that scene does not take place after the defeat of Sharptooth at all, but after the fight with Cera, when he had legitimate reason to feel that way. I know, I'm as unhappy about the cuts and changes as anyone else on here is.   :(

Sinse when did it become a crime for others to talk about Pterano so much, or anyone else for that matter?  They are free to their opinions and likes, even if you disagree.  Trying to push your views onto others and try to make them shut up on their views isn't going to gain you much favor on the GOF or even in the real world for that matter.

Back on topic.  I have a few to list:

*"The Reason" by Hoobastank fits Cera, because of her complex character.  It seems she continues to try to find herself, and I believe if we were to see the Gang grow older, she would be a better natured person because she would have found her reason by then, and the reason is her loved ones.

*"Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica fits Littlefoot, because of his tendency to be a leader.  The song basically says to forever trust in who you are and nothing else matters, and it takes confidence to lead.

*"Sing" by My Chemical Romance fits Ducky, because she still has yet to become fully assertive and stick up for herself.  Like Cera, I think she would change as she got older and and stand her ground more.

Glad I'm not the only one 2 notice that! Anyways, I'll be thinking of my favorite member of the gang whenever I hear this song again.  ;) By the way, I actually played it down at the old folks home last summer on the piano. It's something I've been doing for nearly a decade now, and am gonna be in my 7th ajudication this march!

Yes, I know it's off topic but I couldn't resist.  :D

And 1 more thing: Spike does sound like Satchmo during his "Ba-ba-ba" solo in 6 and in his thoughts, but his actual talking voice we heard in movie 4 was...uh, like the aflac duck, as tv tropes puts it!  :lol

For Petrie - Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters. I feel like this especially fits Petrie during the first movie.

For Pterano - Go the Distance from the Disney movie Hercules. Why? Because it talks about how the character wants more than the average normal life.

Oi, the songs Titanium (David Guetta) It's Time (Imagine Dragons), and Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Green Day) fit Pterano for some reason, I think:

You shoot me down, but I won't fall, I'm Titanium
-- like how his ideas just so often fail, but he's not gonna give up

It's time to begin, isn;t it, I get a little bit bigger but then, I'll admit, I'm just the same as I was...
-- Admitting he goes a bit overboard, but he's unchanged ;)

My shadow's the only one beside me, my shallow heart's the only thing that's beating, sometimes I wish someone out there qwould find me, Till then I walk alone
-- Basically, he's owning up to the fact that he's an outlaw until... well, someone looks at him differently

I know, corny...

for Littlefoot, I'd say the Beib's song Never Say Never fits ;)

This topic may be two years old but I've been wanting to post my thoughts on a certain song with Pterano. I will get to the other dino characters as well XD. He's just so easy to find songs for.

Not one of Us From Lion King 2

It reminds me of how a lot of the herd probably feel about him.

Deception (An outrage!) He manipulated his own nephew to get info on the Stone and all his promises of a better life for the herd led to their death.
(He can't change his stripes) As Grandpa Longneck said he was up to his old tricks again.
Disgrace (For shame!)
(You know these Outsider types) He's not really popular among the group and was kicked out.

He asked for trouble the moment he came
(See you later, agitator!)

Let him run
Let him live
But do not forget what we cannot forgive( I don' think they'll forgive what happened to the other herd )

And he is not one of us
He has never been one of us
He is not part of us
Not our kind

Someone once lied to us
Now we're not so blind
For we knew he would do what he's done
And we know that he'll never be one of us

I just think it fits perfectly Xd

I also think the song We Are by Anna Johnson fits him as well.

We Are"

See the devil on the doorstep now (my oh my)
Telling everybody oh just how to live their lives (Pterano telling the other herd where he think they should go.)
Sliding down the information highway
Buying in just like a bunch of fools (The herd foolishy believes him.)
Time is ticking and we can't go back (my oh my)

What about the world today
What about the place that we call home
We’ve never been so many
And we've never been so alone

[Chorus]
You keep watching from your picket fence
You keep talking but it makes no sense
You say we're not responsible
But we are, we are
You wash your hands and come out clean (Pterano still believes he's the hope for a better future and didn't take responsibility for what happened to he herd.)
Fail to recognize the enemies within
You say we're not responsible
But we are, we are, we are, we are

One step forward making two steps back (my oh my)
Riding piggy on the bad boys back for life
Lining up for the grand illusion
No answers for no questions asked
Lining up for the execution (This part makes me think of the herd during the sharpteeth attack)
Without knowing why

It’s all about power then (Pterano wanting to gain some magical power from the stone)
Take control
Breaking the rule
Breaking the soul
They suck us dry till there’s nothing left
My oh my, my oh my

Here's the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQKpPpiI6Wg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQKpPpiI6Wg)

I just found this one so I won't go into much detail but I feel it could practically be his theme song.

"Playing God" by Anna Johnson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7Xwgg6MEyo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7Xwgg6MEyo)

Lights out, you stole the show
Time's up, you're good to go
The truth won't be unspoken
How do you breathe?

What does it feel like?
When life's in your hands
The craving for power
Has gone to your head
What does it feel like
To feel nothing at all
Is it your call
To be playing God

Cry all the tears they've cried
Dream all the dreams that died
How do you face his father?
How do you breathe?

What does it feel like?
When life's in your hands
The craving for power
Has gone to your head
What does it feel like
To feel nothing at all
Is it your call
To be playing God

Remember what your mother said
Boy, you better make amends
Cos no one gets away in the end
Playing God
How do you breathe?

What does it feel like...

Now for the other dinos

Littlefoot about his mother in the first movie

She Is the Sunlight by Trading Yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkCAR7xQoaI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkCAR7xQoaI)

I think it fits pretty well particuallry these lines

And if loving her is
Is a heartache for me
And if holding her means
I have to bleed
Then I am the martyr
Love is to blame
She is the healing
And I the pain

She lives in a daydream
I don't belong(Her talk to him about the Great Valley)
She is the sunlight
the sun is gone

I kind of think Nobodys Home by Avril could fit Cera since she seems to hide some of her feelings in a mask of rudeness but has a softer side,  and also Give me What I Want her snobby attitude and Freak Out due to her stubborn wont take no crap from no one like ways.

Mo – Hey Brother (Avicii, RIP)
Bron – Don’t Look Back in Anger (Oasis)
Shorty – Move Along (All-American Rejects)
Guido – Freak Show (Set it Off)

Chances are I'll think of more later on and I'll kick myself for not thinking of it sooner, but oh well :PAli
