How about a trail image week run!

OK I am sorry to add this topic but I have now getting a bit annoyed how the members are the ONLY ones that can't put images up. We have to go through the mods or admins to do so. I know there is a risk of image overload but you could do a trail run week with the members able to put images up like the mods and admins can.

Just a trail week run that all to see what happens.

I'll give it some thought. There are a lot of members here so that could be a problem.

We only get 16MB of space for the entire board so it runs out quickly.

Would it not be possible to perhaps archive them somewhere as a temporary storage location. Of course access could still be granted to view them but maybe that could help with the 16meg limit issue

It's an option, but the only thing I can think of archiving would be fanart pictures since that's about all that anyone uploads.

The thing is, are people more likely to look at an archived gallery over the pictures that can be uploaded to the board? If the answer is no, then archiving isn't going to work. It would help the space issue, which I can say is not a problem---yet---but if nobody is going to look at the pictures because they're somewhere else and not embedded in a message, that won't help anything.

Good example of this is the DeviantArt gallery system...I used to be a member, but as soon as I left and gave an outside link to my artwork, nobody bothered to look at it.

Ok this is what I've done and we'll see how it works.

Members can upload files no larger than 100kb in size.
Members can upload in the following forums: Fanart/Fanfiction, The Fridge, Silver Screen, The Party Room, and After Midnight.

Pictures are the ONLY thing that can be uploaded provided they are in the jpeg format. This is not my rule--invisionfree does not allow anything else. I've tried gifs and they don't work all the time.

We'll keep this up for a while, and I'll watch over who's uploading and who isn't and go from there.

Nice picture!
I'll now have to depend on the hideous internet connection, so my possibilities to post are limited for a while. It took me (no exaggeration) more than 100 minutes to get a connection that allows me to post this message here. I hope that I will be able to use faster connections relatively frequently. Hopefully we'll have a faster connection over here soon (so I won't ever have to depend on the slow one again), but it may still take four to six weeks.

That's unfortunately true. I still have to do an internet assignment which is really virtually impossible to do at home. I guess I'll either have to do it at the uni (where I am right now) or I'll have to drop in by my Dad's to do it.

It is a very old connection and as I'm almost the only one who uses the internet there, there was little reason to get a new one. We are going to get a new and better one though. It may still take three to six weeks for it to be up.
