If that were true, I'd be happy and fine with places like SeaWorld having them. But like I mentioned... we can already see that that isn't quite the case. Problems like the "folded fin" are usually overlooked, but it's pretty well known that the tanks aren't big enough for them. And, again, they suffer greatly shortened lifespans. We can't go up to an orca and say "hey, do you feel stressed out?" but it is obviously impacting an animal's health when it doesn't even live half as long as it could expect to in a wild environment. Even without dredging up specific incidents, IMO that's more than enough reason to take notice.
I'm sure the SeaWorld folks are being honest when they say that they do their best to keep the animals healthy and happy. The problem is that "their best" simply may not be enough--and if it isn't enough, they should take other steps to make sure that they are not holding orcas in an inadequate environment, or stop showing orcas until they can. That's basically what we expect from folks who keep domestic pets.
Can't argue with that.

Indeed Kor, and personally I think most people are overreacting when something like this happens. The Orcas of Seaworld are being take care of, and they do not get stressed or sick.
However, one does sometimes wish one could actually see them up close in the wild, rather than jumping around, performing tricks like it was a circus show.

Actually, you couldn't really call that for an attack, nor aggressive nature. If an Orca wants to attack you, you're pretty much dead. A single grown up Orca can kill a Great White Shark, so why on earth would an Orca being aggressive not maul the traineer?
The answer, I think, is that Orca's are playfull. They'll play with their prey in the wild, and most of the tricks they learn, are for fun. It's game to them. So, naturally, they would have an idea, which by our standards are way to wild. It's like having a child, who thinks it's a good idea to go on a collision course with another person while on ski. There's plenty of examples of Orcas in captivity, who suddenly change tactic, because they have an idea.

As for keeping them in captivity?
I agree with the prospect of having a proper habitat for them. In Denmark, we have porpoises in captivity (the only I might add in the whole world), and the habitat for them, is an inclosed space, where the boundaries are nets. Which mean, the water in the habitat is the same as in the actually ocean, and different wild life can enter the habitat. In a period they had a problem with the danish Almindelige Ulk, Myoxocephalus scorpius, which has small spikes along its gills. So naturally, when the porpoises try to bite on them, they get stuck in their mouth. And then the traineers has to fetch them out of

Not necessaily... I just think you jumped from one subject (what the Great Valley means) to another subject (the education of the kids).
Usually, an author tends to stay true to their main title when it comes to poems. Though there are cases when a poem is about one thing, and has an obscure title.
Besides, a poem can be interpreted in many ways. The author in one way, and the readers will have there own versions. You wanna change that, you need to cut it out for them... and then your poems becomes boring

LBT Fanfiction / What the Great Valley Means

It is a very good poem.... structured, nice rimes. I liked the first part. but then, you began to confuse me a bit
The next part seems to talk about a dinosaur, wanting to go to the Great Valley, but is still in the mysterious beyond. However, I had the original thought that the poem would be from the perspective of dinosaurs living in the Great Valley, and saying what the valley means to them. But showing us, that it also is a tale giving hope to other dinosaurs, who haven't found the valley yet, was a nice touch.
However, the ending, I'm a bit disapproving of...
You show us, what the Great Valley means to the inhabitants and the dinosaurs in the mysterious beyond... however, you suddenly change the subject of the poem from the Greavt Valley, to instead, the education of the kids. It seemed more to me, that you tried to just get an ending that "might" work, instead of an ending that kept faith to the subject of the matter.
Still, it was an enjoyable read, so keep going

I did shoot with cal. 22 rifle for a year, but in the end, I didn't have the interest nor the time for it. Now I've just gotten into the Danish Homeguard, which gives you rifles and ammunition to shoot with, for free... which is a shiny thing
Never tried throwing with a sling before, so I can't say how well the accuracy is on such a thing. I did try spear and bow, which reminds me of a rather fun time. A girl, just after my turn, stepped up to the firing line, and knocked the arrow onto the string, and pulled it back. She shot over... which wasn't the interesting part... she'd pulled so much back, that when she released, the arrow sat itself in the wooden wall, 5 meters behind the target, around 2-3m high up on the wall. My friend and I began to laugh at it... ofcause I had to retrieve it
But if there is any kind of shooting ranges or practise ranges in your area, Serris, then go ahead. Shooting demands not just that you have the patience, but that you're also in control of every move your body makes. That and it is a relaxing hobby, AND it's fun

A little game, or should I say, a definition of a GoF member. It's a derivation of the, "you've play Ogame for too long, when you do (a specified action)"
Example would be:
You're a real GoF member when you gather five friends and search the world for the Great Valley
or:
You've seen the LBT movies too much, when you sing every song when walking down the street
So, let's hear YOUR definition of a GoF member, or just the action of a person who have seen the movies too much... which ofcause is an impossible task
