The Welcome Center / My Return and Status Here
« on: August 02, 2013, 09:53:16 AM »
If this is in the wrong section, then I apologize and move it wherever you need it to be.

So once again, I have not been here for a very long time. I am probably sounding like a broken record right about now, and I'm sure I probably could have just updated a topic like I had done so the last four times I tried to come back. However, I don't think that would do any of you justice, and I have been giving a lot of thought about this and feel that I need to make a new topic about it.

To put it simple, my life has been very hectic as of late. I recently graduated college in May, and then immediately started back at my job at Target. At the same time, I have been looking for a full-time job because six years of retail is too much and has taken it's toll on me. While doing all of this I am currently in a community theater production of Sweeney Todd where I play the role of Pirelli. When you combine all of these things together, my summer has been incredibly busy.

Now I know there's been a few people that I have once again left hanging here, and for that I apologize. I've tried to be better at notifying when I decide to disappear, but that just hasn't been the case.

I actually have to thank Malte for sending me his PM the other day. I probably wouldn't have sat down and thought this post out if he hadn't reminded me of how much I miss being on GOF. I still can't believe how long I've been a member here, and I really wish I could be more active on here.

With this topic, I am announcing my return to GOF. Will I be anywhere near as active as I used to be? Probably not. If I get a full-time job anytime soon then that will take up a lot of my time. Will I do my best to poke in every now and then? Absolutely. How successful I will be is entirely unknown.

So once again, I hope to reconnect with everyone here on GOF, and if you are a new member I hope I get the chance to meet you.

The Welcome Center / Here I Am!
« on: September 21, 2011, 10:53:00 PM »
Ok, where the heck did I go these last couple months?

So you probably may or may not have noticed, but I disappeared again without warning. Why? My summer for some reason became even busier every day, which I didn't think was possible. I pretty much lost track of everything I was doing outside of work, so I guess I took a break from everything.

So here's to hoping that I can make more of an appearance on GOF. I recognize that there are a few new members here, so I hope I get to meet you all in the future. To everybody who I was involved with in RP's or whatnot, I apologize for once again disappearing out of nowhere and will do my best to get back into everything.

LBT Fanfiction / Fanfiction Character Taken Without Permission?
« on: April 17, 2011, 01:46:49 PM »
Ok, so I just recently browsed FF.net, looking at new stories that have been uploaded from LBT, when I noticed something that I find unsettling.

A user named RichardTerminator has written a series story named "The Incredible Life" and uploaded them on FF.net. The basic premise of the series is that humans use a time machine and travel to the Great Valley (I haven't really read enough of the story to know exactly what happens).

In two of these stories, RichardTerminator has included my character Blacktail from Revenge II. He never asked for my permission to use this character, and yet he is using them in his story. Now this is mostly my fault, because I never put a copyright on Blacktail, so I should have known that something like this would have happened. Still, I'm a little upset that he is using my character and he never asked me if I could. He also is using Scarbeak from Revenge II, but Scarbeak isn't my character so I'm not as concerned about it.

I probably already know the answer to this question because I never copyrighted Blacktail, but is there any possible course of action that I can and should take against this? I really don't want this user to be taking credit for my character, even though I never officially copyrighted said character.

The Fridge / 3rd Year Anniversary
« on: January 01, 2011, 05:57:35 PM »
Wow, time has flown by. Today marks my third year of being a member of GOF. I can't believe it's already been three years since I first joined this forum, but it really feels like I've been around for much longer. I guess since I've been so involved around here it makes it seem longer than it really is.

I want to thank GOF and all its members for three amazing years together, and I am looking forward to adding another one to my belt :D

Random Role Play / Power Rangers Zeo ZX
« on: December 21, 2010, 01:00:44 PM »
It was a quiet day in Angel Grove, the first in a long time. It had been several years since the Zeo Rangers destroyed the Machine Empire once and for all, but all was not calm. With Zordon dead, all evil had supposively been destroyed as well, or evil beings changed to their former human selves. Unfortunately, something happened that shouldn't have, and now the world may once again be in great peril.

Alpha 5 woke up startled. "Oh my!" he cried. "Where am I?" He looked left and right, but the area was too dark for him to pick out. "Oh now I've done it!" he complained. "I'm lost!" He stepped forward to try and get a better idea for his predicament, but at that moment the entire area lit up in a flash. In a matter of seconds, the area was fully lit, and Alpha could immediately tell where he was. "Aye yae yae yae yae! This is the Command Center! The first one! I thought this was destroyed!" All of a sudden something appeared behind him accompanied by the sound of static electricity. He jumped and spun around, but what he saw gripped him with amazement and awe. "It's not possible!" he denied. "Zordon, you are alive!"

"Alpha," the floating head greeted with a booming voice, "it's as I feared."

Meanwhile, things were stirring up on the moon. With the return of Zordon, it could only mean one thing. The moon base was back, and so was its deadly inhabitants. One of them was perched on the balcony of the base, looking down upon Earth. "Earth...." he growled. "I let you slip from my fingers before, but not again. This time, it will be mine, and nothing will stop me!"

"Everything is back in order, Lord Zedd!" Another voice echoed from behind. Zedd turned around to look upon his second in command, Goldar. "The Putties await your orders oh evil one! Just make the command and we shall attack!"

"Patience, Goldar," Zedd replied. "All in good time. We must plan carefully but quickly. If I have returned, it means Zordon has as well. He will most likely attempt to stop me which can only mean one thing."

Goldar sneered. "Power Rangers........"

Back on Earth, Angel Grove College was beginning its fall semester. One particular student was especially eager to start his college career among the other students. "So this is what college feels like. I guess I shouldn't be surprised." Rob continued to walk through the bustle of the other students, all going different ways to classes and dorm rooms. He hadn't really met anybody yet, but he knew that would change eventually.

Role Play Discussion / Power Rangers RP
« on: November 11, 2010, 02:14:45 PM »
Hey guys. For those who may remember, Kor and I were trying to start a Power Rangers RP a while ago. It didn't really go through, but then we tried again. It still didn't go through, so we left it alone. Kor and I have been discussing lately and we want to give this another shot. Third time is a charm after all.

To all who are interested, we aren't posting characters yet, so you can hold off on the profiles. We are still gathering details on the premise, but at the moment we have decided for this to be based off largely of Power Rangers Zeo. We have also decided to keep from using actual characters from the show (Tommy, Adam, etc...), but Zordon will exist, as well as Zedd and Rita (correct me if I made a mistake Kor). The main henchmen will be the Putties, as they are the most popular and easiest to portray.

So please post if you are interested, and I promise we will get this one working. I will post the profile skeleton for characters really soon. If you have any questions/suggestions/comments, please feel free to post them here OR PM myself or Kor.

Silver Screen / Pokemon Apokelypse
« on: September 21, 2010, 10:34:27 PM »
So this was leaked a couple days ago and has now found its way onto Youtube. This is a fan made trailer for a live Pokemon movie, except it follows a more dark and gritty tone rather than the light hearted nature of the anime. I think this was done really well, maybe minus the choices for Ash and Brock. Obviously, the effects are not going to be the best, but for a fan made trailer they don't look too bad.

The Fridge / New Youtube Channel - New Material
« on: September 14, 2010, 12:58:26 AM »
So as a complimentary to my current Youtube channel for my LBT related works (which are currently at halt for not having the time nor resources to finish my video), I've started working on things for my second Youtube channel. I've had this channel for a bit, but that's mostly been for viewing random things.

This channel will host anything not related to LBT, so it will be a lot of randomness. I'll keep updating you guys whenever I upload something, so if you get the chance, please check it out and let me know what you think, except at the moment it's nothing spectacular.

I did upload a video that I really enjoyed making. It's not really a video per say, but I was inspired by a user named tacohero to do this. He has created a couple twisted remixes of certain songs, and they sound flat out creepy and above all really cool. So I decided to try making one to The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars. I personally think it sounds cool, so let me know what you guys think and whether or not I should continue making them. Also, if you know a song that you think would sound cool twisted around, let me know and I'll work on it.

LBT Projects / Falling Inside the Black Beta
« on: August 08, 2010, 10:17:58 PM »
So after another break, I decided to make another music video. Thing is, I'm not quite finished yet, so this is a beta to serve as a preview for it. Pretty much the concept is that when Littlefoot's mother died, both Littlefoot and Cera were affected. Littlefoot lost his mother while Cera lost her pride. The song, Falling Inside the Black by Skillet, I felt really conveyed how Littlefoot was affected and how Cera could have been affected (I know she didn't directly lose her pride because of this, but it works for me).

So just let me know what you think. What works and what doesn't? What should I add and what should I get rid of? You guys give me your feedback, and I hope you enjoy.

I recommend watching in the higher quality.

Silver Screen / Mortal Kombat 2010 Promo Trailer
« on: June 09, 2010, 11:26:44 PM »
For any fans of Mortal Kombat, this is possibly some of the best news we have gotten in terms of a third movie. The director who filmed this made this as a pitch to WB for a more human and realistic Mortal Kombat movie reboot. He is pushing for an R-rating, which was one of the major flaws of the current movies, and the story itself is a little tweaked kind of like in the style of Batman Begins. This 7 minute short features Jax, Sonya Blade, Reptile, Baraka, Johnny Cage, a screen shot of Shang Tsun, and very quick glimpses of two very popular characters.

In my opinion, this is amazing. Yes the character's backgrounds are nothing like the games, but for a human and realistic take on the game this is awesome. The action is quite good, and the actors clearly show acting talent. I will be stoked if this is made into the full movie, but as for now this is merely for hype.

Follow the link below and check it out for yourself, then post here what you think.

Gamers Zone / Green Day Rock Band
« on: December 13, 2009, 11:41:07 PM »
Attention all Green Day fans!

Last night at the 2009 Spike VGA's, Green Day Rock Band was confirmed for a 2010 release. Now if you are a Green Day fan like me, then this is an awesome announcement! I've been wondering why Green Day songs weren't released on Rock Band before, and now we will have a whole game devoted to them! There are so many great songs that would make as excellent Rock Band tracks.

I am personally very excited about this game. I think it will do well because Green Day is well known pretty much everywhere in the world and by many ages.

Gamers Zone / Video Game based Movies Reviews
« on: November 18, 2009, 12:25:49 PM »
Yes there are definitely a huge number of movies that are based off of video games, but which of them are good and which are just plain awful. I know a lot of people have different tastes in this genre so what will be cool for one person might be stupid for the other. So I've decided I'm going to look at movies that are based off of video games and give my personal review on them. I'll look at whether the actors best display the characters from the game, whether the storyline of the movie is good whether it follows the game or not, and just above all if the movie works as a stand alone movie or if it is solely made for the fans of the video game.

So I decided I'm going to start with one of the most popular movies based on a video game, Mortal Kombat. I am only reviewing the first movie for now, I will get to Annihilation later. Mortal Kombat is one of my favorite video game based movies and I watch it all the time.

Background: Mortal Kombat is a franchise of fighting games which originated in the arcades. The games were praised for their ridiculous amounts of violence and insane ways to kill a person. Since the games were so popular, a movie was inevitable. Unfortunately this movie had a lot up against it. Before this movie was released another movie based on the popular fighting franchise Street Fighter was released, unfortunately it bombed at the box office and was panned by critics and fans a like. After the failure of Street Fighter, initial reaction to Mortal Kombat was very poor. Luckily, the movie performed well and brought hope back to video game based movies.

Storyline: The movie is based off of the first Mortal Kombat game. The storyline of the game is as follows: A demon sorcerer Shang Tsun hosts a martial arts tournament called Mortal Kombat in order to determine whether or not Earth can be invaded by Shao Kahn, a powerful ruler of another realm. Lui Kang, a shaolin monk, defeats Shang Tsun and saves the Earth. The storyline of the movie pretty much follows the same plot. Three strangers are invited to an island to compete in a tournament called Mortal Kombat, hosted by the sorcerer Shang Tsun, to decide the fate of the Earth. The plot of the movie is great. It follows the story of the game which is good for fans. However, it might help a little bit to have played the games to get the full effect of the story, but it isn't required.

Actors: One big component in movies based off of video games is whether or not the actors can truly portray the role of a character from the game, especially popular characters such as those from Mortal Kombat. All of the actors were well chosen for their roles in this movie, and not all of them are entirely too well known. The two most recognizable actors in this movie are Christopher Lambert (Highlander) who plays the thunder god and protector of Earth Raiden, and Bridgette Wilson (Billy Madison) who plays Lt. Sonya Blade. Some people may recognize Linden Ashby as well, but probably not as much as the other two. Long story short, I believe that all of the actors did a phenomenal job of portraying their video game counterpart.

Action/Music: Mortal Kombat is a fighting game, so there had to be martial arts in the movie as well. In my opinion, the martial arts is done very well here as each character has a different kind of style. Any action movie lover will be pleased to know that the action in this movie is not filmed through dramatic shaking of the camera that seems to have become a habit in recent movies. You can pretty much see everything so clean and crisp. The music is also very well done. The fights in this movie are backed by a mix between full orchestra band and rock/techno, which is a perfect blend to make the movie a bit more dramatic.

Problems: While Mortal Kombat is a very nicely done movie, it is not perfect. The games are rated M because of the obscene amount of violence. However, the movie was toned down to a PG13 rating, because at the time PG13 movies seemed to do better than R rated movies because they expand to a wider audience. While I understand this decision, it kind of alienates the hardcore fans of the game for it's violence. There is only really one bloody scene which is still toned down because of the editing of the environment. Also, like I said before, while it is not required to have played the games, some of the story and characters may be a little confusing otherwise.

Overall, I think Mortal Kombat is an excellent movie. It nails the characters and stays true to the game. If anybody has played the game, I highly recommend you watch this movie. Just don't expect the insane blood and violence of the games.

LBT Fanfiction / Fanart by LBTFan13
« on: November 11, 2009, 03:22:10 AM »
Well I've seen a lot of really good fanart on GOF so I figured why not try my own. This is the very first time I have ever:
1. drawn any character from a movie/tv show
2. drawn something using a computer

So obviously this is far from perfect, but considering I don't draw normally, I gotta say I'm satisfied with this.

Anyway, here is my first ever attempt at drawing Littlefoot. I used a program called Gimp which is similar to Photoshop. I uploaded it to my 4share account so you can view it. This took me a couple hours and I used a How To guide online.

So please leave your feedback here. I would really appreciate what you guys think especially since this is my first time. I have not decided if I am going to continue drawing more characters or not, but if anything I'll start with this.

LBT Projects / Youtube and Warner Music Group Agreement!
« on: September 30, 2009, 08:56:17 PM »
This is a very exciting time for us all! Youtube has reached an agreement with Warner Music Group to allow their music to be used on Youtube. THE FANS HAVE FINALLY WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now what does this mean for Sony Music and Universal Music, I'm not entirely sure how that will work, but on the bright side we can now use Warner Music artists on Youtube again! My faith in it has been restored!

Here's a link to the official article to prove that this is not a joke it is actually happening!

Silver Screen / Saw VI - True Jigsaw Accomplice Theory Discussion
« on: July 27, 2009, 02:48:30 PM »
This may be confusing if you have not seen all of the Saw movies.

As Saw VI comes closer and closer, a thought dawned upon me until I realized it now. At the end of Saw IV, it is revealed that Hoffman is Jigsaw's new accomplice as he is listening to a tape recorded for him at John's autopsy. However, right before the movie ends, Jigsaw mentions that Hoffman will be tested like everybody else. This brings us to the main question at hand:

Who is most likely going to test Hoffman? Who is Jigsaw's true accomplice?

This probably will not be revealed until Saw VII because the cast for Saw VI has already been announced, but either way it's still something to think about. Well there are many ideas as to who the person to test Hoffman is, therefor making them the true accomplice to Jigsaw. There are five main ideas that have been brought up:

Jill Tuck - Jill Tuck is John's ex-wife, so a lot of people believe that she will be the one to test Hoffman, making her the true accomplice to Jigsaw. While that is possible, it is very unlikely as well. If you notice in Saw IV and V, Jill is pretty much made the prime suspect to become the new accomplice. To reveal her as the official apprentice after the finger has been pointed at her for two movies straight would be entirely anticlimactic, and since the Saw series is well known for it's amazing twists at the end, this would be too predictable. It's almost as if the producers want everyone to believe Jill is the accomplice just to throw us off in the end. I personally hope it's not Jill Tuck who tests Hoffam, and I hope she is not the true accomplice.

Minor Character - Some people have thrown in the idea that a minor character will come out of nowhere and be the accomplice. These minor characters include Daniel, Eric Matthews son because he survived the game in Saw II, Brit and Mallick because they survived the game in Saw V, and Detective Fisk because he appeared briefly in Saw V and has not been developed yet. In my opinion, making a minor character all of a sudden become the accomplice to Jigsaw is so ridiculous. None of them have any reason to want to join Jigsaw in the first place, and it above all is just nonsense. I strongly believe a minor character will not test Hoffman and be the true accomplice.

New Character - There is the idea that a brand new character will be shown in Saw VI and will become the one to test Hoffman. This makes no sense whatsoever because the producers could grab just about any random actor, give him some backstory, and turn him/her into the accomplice. Who would want to see Miley Cyrus as an apprentice serial killer? Not me!

Dead Character - Some people are crazy enough to actually believe that a previously dead character like Amanda, Strahm, or even Jigsaw for that matter, will come back to life by some random means and be the accomplice. That's just a load of nonsense! Saw is not a paranormal movie series, so adding something like that is just stupid. Besides, it's better that somebody else is carrying out John's work while he's dead.

So what's the fifth choice? Who is most likely the one to test Hoffman and turn out to be Jigsaw's apprentice from the beginning? Well to answer that we must answer this question first. Who is the only other main character in the Saw series that we have no proof that he is dead? Who is the only character that the police have not found a body for? That my friends is none other than Dr. Lawrence Gordon

Well this post is getting way too long so I'm going to end it here, but in my opinion, Lawrence Gordon is the perfect candidate to be Jigsaw's actual accomplice and the one to test Hoffman in the end. There is much evidence to prove this theory and I will gladly post it, just not right now.

So what do you guys think? Is it Jill, some random character, or Lawrence?
