Post by: landbeforetimelover on April 21, 2007, 06:38:49 AM
I store all of the LBT video's on my computer but I encrypt them so no one else knows what they are or how to open them.  Allthey know is there is a huge compressed archive on my computer which is password protected, takes up nearly thirty gig's, and is called Austin's School Work LOL

Why would I want to waste space storing video on my computer when I can get better quality off my dvd copies?    If its about embarassment, hide the dvds but use that space to find new music or maybe some older animation films or something that can't be found on dvd yet.

firstly, i don't have a computer and im defenitely not putting the movies on my parents computer and secondly, like petrie said, i just hide the dvds and if i want, i could just watch them on the computer as well.

I like how you hid the videos though, :lol school work :lol

my DVDs are pretty obvious to all my friends, they're on the same shelf as my video games :p

I have them on my computer because I have a better stereo on my computer, and I can listen to them better from my bed :p which is set up perfectly for movies, also then if I fall asleep watching one (sleepy me) I don't have to worry about the DVD player I own burning up (it's not the best)

Only thing that I got on my computer is my LBT TV series collection the movies I have all on DVD. But I have transfered the 20 episodes I have on DVDs to water here in the the states till I get back to the UK on the 30th of Augest.

Sure do!
I ripped all 12 of my DVDs to my computer for quick, easy access.  This way if I need to quickly get screenshots, audio clips, etc. (where quality isn't top priority) I don't have to run into the other room and grab a DVD.  I don't normally watch my ripped versions for entertainment (that's what the DVD versions are for).  I use the ripped versions as a convenient resource.

That's all I have.  I threw away the originals to hide them.  I wish I would have saved them now, since my mom started liking LBT.  I use them for entertainment and for a resource.  They are especially helpful in creating animated gifs and for creating new avatars.

I don't have any LBT videos on my computer. There is no need to as I have the original DvDs of all the sequels.

Don't you want to take snapshots and modify pictures, split and join videos?  Ya know, that sort of thing?

Right now I don't have the time and I never created an LBT music video or the like. If it comes to snapshots, it is perfectly possible to take them right from the DvD.

Once, I used a picture of littlefoot in lbt 8 and cropped the image so it didn't show anything but littlefoot, and I put him in the seat of a 1979 chevy truck.  It looked like he was driving!  It was so cool.  Unfortunatly, The hard disk I had it on crashed and I was unable to recover the file.  I plan to make it again though once I get photoshop reinstalled on my new hard drive.  I couldn't have done it without those LBT vids on my computer.

I currently have the original LBT, 6-12, 14 of the Eps on the TV Series and the 30 other vids I made myself that you all can see on either YouTube or FileFront.

If I end up having trouble getting 2-5, I'll take whatever you guys can give me.

All this material will be important for my upcoming, fanmade music vid I have planned.

There's only one other thing I'll need, it is unrelated to LBT and I know where to get it. ;)

Well, that's it for me. :)

My family is fully aware of my LBT passion. Especially since I got that armful of plushes while we were shopping at a Family Dollar store. I couldn't even get past the clerk without a comment. :wow

That's good. I really think LBT fans can make their lives happier if they come out of the hiding, not prancing about with a mark reading "I love LBT" but allowing anyone to know who wants to know. Trying to hide it from the own family would be particularly frustrating I suppose.

I don't really care what people think about me liking Land Before Time. My family knows about it and so does a section of people that live on the block I live at. I am not bothered at all. It just a cartoon that people are real fans of, there fans of so many things so Land Before Time shouldn't be any different. Everyone has their likes and dislikes, shouldn't pick on thoses that like it for the fun of it, that just wrong, what if you picked on their favioute thing, they wouldn't like it so they should really think on that and see how the other feels.

when I was at my older house, I could've bought a computer monitor bigger than my TV screen XD so I have to say i find it rather logical in some cases to have them on the comp, but make sure you've purchased those videos first plz (-public service anouncement points ^ -)

LOL.  I guess I should have been more specific.  This is one of the first posts I ever made on GOF and I had no knowledge of the tv series then and of course, I didn't have them either.  It seems like I've been here forever, but I've only been here around 3 months.  Probably school.  It makes your life and your days seem longer.  For the record, this poll is about any LBT movie/episode created by Universal (this does not include music videos).

Hello:
It is very hard to get things like TLBT DVDs around here, and the channel that braodcasts the serie does not get to my city (thank you very much cable company :mad ).
I used to have the first movie and TLBT 10 but I have them on cd to save space because my HDD is not very big. But I do want to buy the DVDs, specially for the original movie.

Whoa!  Don't you dare do something that foolish! :o If you upload an ENTIRE LBT movie onto any upload site, they'll see it, delete it, and report you to the authorities.  If you do it over MSN, not only would it take many days, there would be a record and you'd probably be reported to an anti-piracy agency!  Offering someone a torrent is one thing, but doing stuff like that could get you into major trouble!

I now have LBT 13 on my computer too. :^.^:

Why is it I don't believe this? A record? I never heard of such a thing, and no one I talked to ever mentioned it either. I seriously doubt they would keep records of Instant Messages, especially with the sheer number of IMs sent every second. I would believe this more if it were a school/college/work thing. But individual homes? I find that hard to believe.
Title: LBT videos on computer
Post by: landbeforetimelover on December 10, 2007, 12:58:34 AM
They don't keep a record of messages, just links and downloads to make sure no piracy is going on.  Read it.  It's in messengers "agreement" you say "I agree" to when installing the application (which no one reads by me it seems)

Post by: landbeforetimelover on December 10, 2007, 01:19:13 AM
They're probably lying to you, but it's best to be safe.  If you really wanna get LBT vids the illegal way, don't ask others to put their necks on the line (and don't do it yourself).  They can go get a torrent or you can always make a torrent if you wanna give the file to someone else.  That's the least risky thing anyways.  In conclusion, why not just buy the vids?  They're not expensive or anything and it's not worth someone getting caught over it.  The only way I can justify you downloading LBT vids illegally is if it's not available in your country or something but even then, the internet is available.

Besides, downloading LBT 13 and not paying for it hurts Universal and it might just make them not want to make more LBT vids or not want to invest a lot of money into them if they're not making any money from them.  I'm sure no one here wants that.
Title: LBT videos on computer
Post by: DarkHououmon on December 10, 2007, 01:23:49 AM
I've looked through the Terms of Service, and there's nothing in it about keeping records of downloads and links. I did find something about how they *may* collect such information, but there's nothing said about them doing it 24/7, and they would need a really good reason to invade the privacy of an individual.

I have also googled about this, and have also found nothing about them keeping records of links and downloads being sent through their system.
Title: LBT videos on computer
Post by: landbeforetimelover on December 10, 2007, 01:25:29 AM
It's only on the newer versions (8.5.1 and above)  and they say that they keep records of sent files to check for piracy.  It's not in the terms of use, but when you go and install the program, the long freaking 40 page license agreement it's in there.

Title: LBT videos on computer

It says this in the terms of use:

In particular, we may access or disclose information about you, including the content of your communications, in order to: (a) comply with the law or respond to lawful requests or legal process; (B) protect the rights or property of Microsoft or our customers, including the enforcement of our agreements or policies governing your use of the service; or © act on a good faith belief that such access or disclosure is necessary to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, customers or the public.

They say this because although they don't spy on your communications, such organizations such as the CRIA and other anti-piracy organizations do look at your communications and logs.  If they find anything, they tell MSN, it gives them all your personal info, and you're hauled off to jail.  It's a tricky matter.  They don't say that anti-piracy organizations are spying on you, but they also don't deny it.  The fact of the matter is, they ARE spying on you.  They are not allowed to view the content of your communications because they must comply with microsoft privacy statements, but they are allowed to view urls and download links.  The only proof I have of this is how many people are getting caught sharing music and crap off of msn.  I mean, if they're not spying on us, how did those people get caught?
Title: LBT videos on computer
Post by: DarkHououmon on December 10, 2007, 01:51:59 AM
I've seen that part, and I still don't believe they give out links and downloads.

And if they are spying, then some people I know should have been caught already, but they haven't.

Sorry but I would rather not feel paranoid about this whole "spying" thing.
Title: LBT videos on computer
Post by: landbeforetimelover on December 10, 2007, 02:30:19 AM
Well, you don't have to feel paranoid unless you're sharing illegal files or copyrighted material.  It's smart just to not do it.  They're probably lying about it anyways just to try to deter people from pirating stuff using their service.  Anyways, it would be a good idea to get back on topic. :yes

Hello:
Then that means that I must wait patiently if the DVD someday comes near my city, because if there is interest... things are always delayed to get here unless they are quite famous like some series (Lost, the 4400,... etc).
Well, there may be still means to get stuff, like bittorrent or the very famous P2P programs.

Voted yes.
Have some of the series on my laptop, and LBT 1 and 10, which Pat gave me when he was here. Makes a good treat for my P2.  :^.^:

I recently got my hands on all the movies (except that *** 9th)!
So, they are open to all public who enters my territory. Can't miss 'em. On a shelf in my room.
Few people here at home know about my passion for LBT...
My family knows partly about it, I mean: "Try to NOT notice a 100 X 50 CM orginal LBT 1 poster..."   They sure like my drawings though.  :)
Any friends? Nope.

I'd sure like the movies on my computer, problem is, I'm not the most talented when it comes to ripping. So if anyone would lend me his/her time to explain it, I'd be grateful.  :^.^:
