Was watching the series and the episode with the baby casmasaurus follows a part of the plot of LBT 2:

Sorry for the synch issue.  My capture thing didn't work too well.

I wonder if they got the idea on their own, if they are fans of lbt, or saw the 2nd movie and forgot it, but maybe it subconsciously gave them the idea.

With regard to this you might want to take a look at the title of this this dinotopia book published in 2000:

Hmm. I'd personally say that's more coincidence than anything else. Its like The Lion King and Kimba: The White Lion. There are a few notable similarities, but they're stereotypical of the genre enough to think so.

I'm being a rain on your parade, sorry, but I thnk these accidental similarities happen more often than people realize.

I was wondering, if the guys, who saw how little T-Rex hatched gonna scream "Sharptheeth!" all together. :)

Seems like they may be dinosaur lovers no matter what is made. :p

WR, I don't doubt its coincidence.  I just remember the shock of the little dinos when they realized it wasn't their egg that hatched. :p

This episode had the best line in the whole series:

Woman - "There must be something here he [the baby T-rex] likes to eat?"

Man - *holds up bandaged fingers* "Yes, us!"

I can assure you that the above book was not a "rip-off" of LBT 2, but there were some similar motifs and with the name Chomper, the color of "Chomper" on the cover of that book, and the general idea of a sharptooth hatched and brought up by leafeaters I consider it more likely than not that the author of the book took some inspiration from LBT 2.

I should've put that one online too. :P:

It's a series of books put out by James Gurney, who also created Dinotopia.  It takes him a while to put out each book since he paints each picture in the book.  It is basically about an island where humans and mainly plant eating dinos live in harmony, or or less.  Most of the plant eaters live in the cities and most of the meat eaters live in a place called the rainy baisin, though there are at some meat eaters who live in the cities.  1 is a Troodon (though he calls him a Stenonychus it is an invalid term at present & they are actually Troodons) who is the head time keeper, and a deinonychus.

Some other folks have written some spin fiction books and they did a mini series and tv series, the tv series didn't last very long.

The official home page of the James Gurney book version of Dinotopia is at: http://www.dinotopia.com/

For the record, I wasn't saying that it was rip-off. My point was that I think its pure coincidence.

I didn't mean to suggest you said it was WR :)
Having read the book and having seen the movies I definitely agree that neither is a rip-off. I wouldn't go so far as to calling it coincidence though. I cannot be certain of course but I consider it more likely than not that the author of the book may have taken a little basic inspiration from LBT 2, but certainly not to the extend where one could speak of a rip-off.

It wasn't you who made me think that, Malte. A couple of the comments just made me want to make sure my point was absolutely clear.

Anyway, I thought the author of Dinotopia hated the Land Before Time sequels. I'm pretty sure I was told that on this very site a few years back.

I don't know if James Gurney does nor not.  I've never heard one way of the other.  You can try to contact him yourself to ask if you want to know.
