Ducky shivered as she felt the cold breeze.

"That is cold, it is, it is."  Ducky said.  "is it the cold time already?  I did not think it would come for a while." She said, pausing in the eating of the leaf she was holding as she ate.

Chomper frowned slightly.
"Yeah, I know!" he agreed. He tapped the ground - the earth had frozen solid. "I've been trying to dig here for crawlers all morning, and ground seems to have just...I dunno! And I'm getting hungry..."

Ruby felt a pretty cool breeze quickly increasing its intensity. "It's colder than it should be!" she commented more to herself than to the rest of the Gang. She shook a little bit due to the breeze. Ruby looked into the sky. She saw a wall of clouds black as the night, they carried a white 'fog' with them. Ruby had seen this kind of clouds before and she knew what the white fog is.
"We should hurry to get some shelter, hurry we should!" she suggested to her friends based on her experiences in the Mysterious Beyond.

Even with resting so close to her mate, Grandma Longneck felt the cold all over her body. "We should find Littlefoot before this gets any worse." She suggested, looking around if she saw the young Longneck anywhere.

Tria was already out and about, looking for the two young Threehorns. "Tricia! Cera!"

Mr Threehorn arrived back to his nest just to notice that none of his family members were inside the safety of the cave in this rough time.As he stomped not in anger, but mostly in worry he heard Tria calling for his doughters. He stormed towards the direction of the sound, while trying not to lose where his nest was, since becose of the thick fog he knew that when he will find his family he will have to lead them back.

Grandpa faintly heard the calls of the young longneck. "Littlefoot!" he called, trying to guide Littlefoot with his voice, as he couldn't see much through the thick fog that was gathering. He turned to his mate. "I really don't like the looks of this," he said worriedly.

"I know, little one." Grandma nudged him closer to in between her and Grandpa where  he hopefully would be safe from the worst of it.

Tria could hardly see in front of her with the terrible weather. She had never gone through such a harsh Cold Time. Suddenly she heard something: someone was moving towards her. "Topsy?"

"Th-th-threeh-horn r-r-rule number tw-twenty s-seven," Cera said as clearly as she could to her wide eyed little sister. "The-threehorns d-d-don't live I-in c-c-cold places because p-people who d-do are either d-dumb or l-l-lost... St-still, it's n-not that c-cold, r-right?"
Lies, lies, and more lies, and this time even she couldn't fool herself. She was cold because it was cold, and for the life of her she couldn't remember a time when it had gotten quite this skin-reddeningly frigid this early in the year. The wind chill felt like someone was slowly peeling off her skin with a shard of sharp ice water, and she didn't get it-- she truely didn't. It was fine just a few days ago! What, did the clouds look down on the great valley and say to themselves 'Hey, look at this nice appealing looking warm valley with all it's happy go lucky inhabitants! You know what would be really funny? If we made winter come four months early and watched them jitter around like a bunch of upturned crawlers! Hardy hardy har har!'
Cera looked down at her shivering sister and felt a bit more pitying than bitter. The poor thing didn't look much better off than she was. She snuggled up close to Patricia in a vain attempt to share body warmth.
Suddenly, Cera looked up. "W-was that T-Tria calling j-just now?"

Even with all his impressive size and body-heat, Spike still had difficulty maintaining it. His teeth even began to chatter as the snow fell. When him and Ducky arrived back to their mother's calling, all of his adoptive siblings nestled around him nonetheless, hoping for some form of warmth.

She took a few, shivering steps towards the direction her father's voice seemed to be coming from before the wind exploded. Frost speckled coils of wind shrieked in the air and writhed around like angry snakes, whipping her with raw, black cold.
Cera gave a loud cry of suprise, and could barely hear her own voice over the calamity. She could barely even see now.
'This isn't an early cold time,' she thought incredulously. 'It's a blizzard. It's an actual blizzard.
She curled to her left and nudged a terrified looking Tricia towards the direction of the Great Stone wall. "We have to find shelter!" she yelled. "We have to get out of the wind!"
She pushed forward--quite literally-- trying to block Tricia from the incoming wind. It was like walking upstream at the bottom of a stream bed. "Hello!?" She shouted to the wind. "Anybody!? Help us! Please!"

"We must find them immediately! This storm starts to annoy even me a bit!I left footprints to our nest so"-Then Topsy heard his daughter crying for help.He knew that his daughter was a self-sufficing threehorn, who only asked for help when she really needed, which he was realy proud of.He let out a loud "RAAAGHH",and charged against the storm at full speed, like he would charge against a sharptooth. His massive body made the earth shake near to him,and he shook his head to keep the snow from covering his sight, not caring about the fact that he felt very cold too.Soon he approached to the silhouette of what seemed to be two young threehorns.
"Cera! Tricia!-he shouted.

"MOMMY, SPIKE." Ducky called out trying to find either of her family members.  She walked around, going slower then usual. She also thought if she could find the river she could walk in one direction beside it and maybe find their nest.  She'd be happy to find anyone in all this fog.

"Sky puffies belong in the sky, not on the ground, no, no, no." She said to herself walking along trying to find anyone in all this fog.

Mr. Thicknose had seen that one coming earlier than most of the others so he already found some shelter. The current situation worried him far more than a massive Sharptooth attack would. Sharpteeth could be fought off though he wasn't experienced in fighting but against the weather they were helpless and mightless.
In his younger years he experienced such an early Cold Time introduced by a deadly blizzard  remembering what it was like...

Ducky ran in the direction of where she heard her mother's voice, grasping a hold of her leg once she was within reach.

"Why is it cold now and why are there sky puffies on the ground?" Ducky asked, scared at not being able to see very far & being cold and not expecting a cold time to come at this time.

"It is cold and I could not see very far." Ducky said.  "I am glad you are here, I am, I am."

As Cera tried her best to steer her younger sister through the blistering wind, she motivated herself onward by her oldest, surest, and most used mental pep talk: she was a threehorn. It wasn't so much that threehorns were the best at everything that made threehorn's special (although they were) but because they kept pushing forward when everyone else would give up. A threehorn never quits, even in the face of impossible odds, and more than her identity as a kid, as a member of the Great Valley, and even as a girl, she considered herself first and foremost a threehorn.
"Stick c-close, Trica," Cera panted, fighting into the wind and frost with almost competitive resistance. "We'll m-make it o-out of this."
Not long after, Cera spotted a distinct silhouette amongst the swirls of the fog.
"Dad? Tria? Is that you?" she called out.

Grandpa tried his best to comfort his grandson. "I know," he said softly. Despite being one of the wisest of the Valley residents - perhaps besides Mr Thicknose, that was - Grandpa was extremely confused with the strange weather. He soon stopped for a few moments, deep in thought. He was trying to think of something that would lessen the blow of the sudden snow storm.

"I think we should try and find a cavern or something to shelter in before it gets too dark," he soon suggested. He knew that being out in the open was probably not the best of ideas, as he had learned from a blizzard he was caught in with Grandma when the frozen sky water first struck the Great Valley. The Longneck's current resting place was out in the open so that they could see all around, but that wasn't proving very useful at the moment. Grandpa knew where some caverns that were big enough to fit in two fully grown longnecks were, but they were quite a walk away.

He soon had second thoughts. "Then again..." he said quietly, noting just how thick the gathering fog was. If he got up and started moving now in search for a cavern without dragging the rest of his family into the cold, he could easily lose them. There was another closer, yet less effective shelter they could use; the trees. Having just eaten, the longnecks were not too far away from a thick forest. The old longneck knew of a large yet well sheltered clearing he had found not long after first reaching the Great Valley. It was a fairly tight squeeze to get in through the thick foliage, but anything would be better than the open right now.

His gaze met his mate's. "We need to head into the trees before the bright circle disappears," he told her. He then looked around, and spotted the barely visible silhouettes of the trees to his left. If they were going to go, they would have to go now, before the fog got any thicker.

(Long post is long. )

Cera felt immediate relief she's he saw her father, and quickly scrambled into his crest, looking behind her shoulder to make sure Tricia followed. "It feels like the worst of the cold times come four months early," Cera chattered. "Dad, what's happening? Where did this blizzard come from?"
More importantly, (and something she knew better than to tell her dad) she was worried about her friends. Petrie and Ducky wouldn't be able to last this storm if they got caught outside! And if that was indeed what ended up happening, she knew Littlefoot would probably want to run out into the cold and to go find them. Ruby was experienced enough to dodge storms to keep herself and Chomper out of trouble and Spike was pretty thick skinned, but then again, this wasn't exactly your everyday coldsnap that so often blessed the chilly month of August, was it?
"What's going to happen?" She asked, looking from her dad, to Tria, to Tricia.

As Mr Threehorn started moving towards the direction where he came from(and where  their nest must be) with Tria in his side he thought about Cera's question. He had no idea what was happenning, but the fact that he didn't know it made him feel uncomfortable. He is a threehorn after all,so he must know or at least presume everything.Yes,he sure know it so he should act like that!

"Don't worry about it.It's just like the skywater in the hot time.It starts suddenly and quickly, but it ends suddenly and quickly too.We go back to the cave now,and everything will be fine tomorrow."
As he said this he fooled himself too that this was just predictable event.Instead he concentrated to find the way back again.

Last I checked, it never flooded during any of the hot times. Cera thought sulkily, but knew better than to back talk her father. He was probably right; how long could snow this early possibly last? In all likelihood, after a goodnight's sleep, the weather would be just as it should be in the morning.
"Yeah, right," Cera muttered so softly to herself that she was barely more than mouthing it. "And maybe Spike will learn table manners and Ducky will take up wrestling."
He looked over to Patricia, and watched as she tried to shake off the snow that kept falling on her from above. Cera herself looked straight up into the air at the endless expanse of dull, foggy haze and wind howling like an angry fast biter.
'Since when has anything ever just fixed itself here in the Great Valley?'
"... You're sure this'll go away?" Cera asked, wanting to believe her father despite her own doubts.

Home again home again. It struck Cera as a bit strange how infrequently she ever entered into the sheltered part of her family's nesting site. Then again, she didn't often stay at her family's nesting site, did she? She came their for sleep, breakfast, dinner, occasionally lunch, and that was about it. It wasn't her fault: no one ever stuck around her nest, usually. Sometimes Tria stayed home to do something with Tricia, but usually everyone went off and met with their cliques almost as soon as breakfast was finished.
The sheltered area comprised of a rather shallow cave (so shallow that she was hesitant to even CALL it cave) that was biggest enough to fit all four of them with some degree of movement space, but not much else. Still, coming out of the blistering wind and snow, she looked around at the ugly blackened limestone walls with a fond smile.
"Ah... it's a lot warmer in here," she sighed, shaking a little to shed all the fog water off of her body. "Me and Tricia are really glad you found us. It was about as easy to see out there as the inside of a Spiketail's nose-- and about as comfortable too." She turned to look out of the cave and watch the swirls of frost being blown around in the fog. Now that she was out of it, it was kind of pretty.
'My dad's right,' she thought to herself, more convinced now that there was something positive to see about the pretty particles of ice. 'In a few days the sun will melt everything. I might as well try enjoy the sparkles in the fog while I still-'
Her eyes locked on something outside of her den. She could barely see anything outside the swirls of fog and wind, but one she had spotted it, she found she couldn't look away from it. There were two spots of light in the white haze behind the curtain of seeping icy mist. The two spots were close together, probably no more than a foot apart.
They were elevated more than twenty feet off the ground.
She blinked. The lights weren't there anymore. Cera raised an eyebrow and shook her head. 'Poor shining buzzers didn't know what hit them,' she thought to herself. She turned back to her family, watching as Tria was drying off Tricia while her dad was shaking off his own coat of fog water and asked: "So we just wait here until it starts to get warmer, right?"

Tria pulled Tricia (OOC: <that's Patricia, some call her that for a weird reason :/ ) close, wrapping her legs around the small, shivering form. "Yes." She answered Cera.

(OOC: Oh god, has is really just supposed to have been foggy all this time? I am so sorry; I'll go back and alter my posts accordingly.)

Cera nodded acceptingly. "F-fair enough," she sighed, looking over her shoulder back into the thick, churning fog. As pretty as the frost was when it was kicked about by the wind, the fog itself was foreboding. She crawled over to Tria and huddled against her, trying to stay as warm as possible.

Though worried about Spike Ducky did her best to cuddle with the rest of her family in the nest to try to keep each other warm and try to go to sleep.  She did think of Spike, hoping wherever he was that he was ok and just went to sleep and he would be found soon.

Mr. Thicknose remembered the last time when a Cold Time started far too early..
He was still a young adult back then. He was just having a conversation with some members of a Thornthumb herd when he noticed a wall of almost black clouds moving quickly towards the Great Valley. It was a fairly warm day, actually, but soon markable colder gusts of wind blew in the Valley causing some weaker trees to crash to the ground. "What's going on here?!" he wondered. Now that the clouds were almost above them they were no longer black but white. "Looks like a... blizzard!?" one of the Thornthumbs stated in a questioning voice.
"It can't be! It's not even the Time of Changing Leaves!!!" Mr. Thicknose shouted.
The first White Ground Sparkles began to fall, they were blown into their faces by the more and more icy wind.
"I suppose we try finding a cave or something the like!" the Thornthumb suggested.
"That's probably a good idea, some shelter makes a blizzard easier to stand!"

He remembered sitting in the very cave he was just sitting in right now seeing the exact pictures as back then.

"We're in big trouble!" he dejectedly grunted.

Suddenly a large green shape walked through the fog-it was Spike.

Mama Swimmer sighed with relief seeing her son was safe and sound.

They talked a little. Sometimes it was about which member of the great valley council her dad found the most annoying, and sometimes it was about Tria talking about some of the gossip she heard from her friends.
Cera stayed quiet, looking out into curtain of fog that windowed the threshold of the their cave.
She mostly thought to herself. Right now, the thing that sprung to her mind was not the great freeze that happened a few years ago, but something she hadn't thought of for many, many years: the mountains that burned. The fog rolling in looked just like the smoke that constantly billowed off of those cruel mountains. The only real difference was that instead of being blisteringly hot, it was freezing cold, and instead of constant, booming eruptions there was only the sharp sound of the wind.
But the feeling was similar. It was eerie and foreboding in a way that seemed decidedly unnatural for a storm. Decidedly deliberate.
Her eyes quickly became heavy, and she began to feel herself struggling to stay awake. What a weird day. Good bye, and good riddance. She didn't even like the cold times when they came when they were supposed too.
Just as her eyelashes were darkening her vision, she saw two spots of lights blink back into the fog in front of her.
'...Shining buzzers?' she thought, and then fell asleep.

So night fell upon the sleeping valley. As the sky darkened heavy snow began falling, spreading out soon as it hit the ground,Within minutes the green Great Valley fields were now patches of snow and ice. Each flake bought a chilling starting to like they were buried under the snow.

Ducky awoke, shivering even before she started to yawn.  She quickly brushed off the snow that had fallen on her during the night.

"It is cold, it is it is." She said as she shivered. "it feels colder then it was yesterday, it does, it does." She said.

Mr. Thicknose jerked as he woke up from a nasty sleep-story. Or was it just the freeze that caused him jerking? He didn't know...
He was startled as he realized just how similar everything is to that early Cold Time years ago...

He would've told everyone what he knew, if only he would be able to get out of his shelter... The ground sparkles already laid up to his hips, and the heavy storm brought more masses of them...

Grandma softly raised her neck, carefull to wake neither of the males beside her. Sometime during the night Grandpa had settled down too, resting in a way that he took the brunt of the cold winds instead of her.

Tria peeked outside the cave. Sadly, unlike what Toppsy had suggested, the weather had not bettered, perhaps it had even worsened during the night!

Cera was already awake by the time Tria stirred at the threshold of the cave, and she was trying her best get back to sleep. She was still on her side, her eyelids were squeezed shut so tightly that her brow and snout were wrinkled, and if one looked very, very closely, they could see the vein on her neck was throbbing in irritation.
The cold had woken her up about an hour ago, and it most definitely was not on her accord, oh no. The moment she realized she was awake, Cera self-diagnosed herself with what she affectionately liked to call TFES: Too Friggin Early Syndrome. Symptoms of this deadly malaise include joints that felt like gravel, eyelids that felt like sharp rust, a supreme feeling of grumpiness and irritability without any of the feeling of satisfaction of being grumpy and irritable, a pathological hatred of light, the sun, day time, her life, and the lives of those around her, and a strong desire to drop off the face of the earth into oblivion.
After she had creaked her eyes open to see her position in the cave, she saw why she had woken up so early: she had fallen asleep too close to the cave entrance. What was more, it was now snowing.
She hated that! It was like she was being punished for a mistake she didn't make that she couldn't even take back! Now she was in a torturous state of body where she hadn't had enough sleep to get all the benefits of a full night of rest, but she had already slept too much now to go back to sleep. She had been trying in vain for the last hour to lull herself back to a light doze, and felt increasingly resentful as she couldn't.

When she heard Tria get up, she actually gritted her teeth together. She was going to have to get through the morning feeling like crud.
She rolled onto her feet, eyes squinted hard to block out the burning light coming through the haze of the snow, and in a gravely tone said: "I guess never trust dad for a weather report."

Ducky got all the way up & started to rub her body to try to warm up, shivering as well.  She looked around to see if Spike was nearby, use to sleeping next to Spike.

"I do hope it is not like this for long, I do, I do." She said.

"What?"-Said Mr.Threehorn, who just woke up to the noise made by his family. As he looked outside of the cave(which took him a bit of time, since he was still a bit asleep)he was suprised to see that the snow was still there. If it remained there too long,it may affect their lives as extremly as to be forced to leave the Great Valley. So,he wanted to see how bad it is.
"Well, our breakfast won't gather itself.Let's see if there is still greenfood around"-he said.

Cera gave an aggravated sigh, and rushed over to brush the snow off of her baby sister. As far as Cera was concerned, the first footfall into snow was almost no different than stepping on a nettle bush: it sent your blood roiling up your leg and your skin got that delightful feeling of being stabbed by tiny spikes. The only major difference was that stepping on nettle made your foot feel like it had been dying by an insect. That, and you could at least have the satisfaction of smashing the remainder of the offending plant under a rock. Good luck trying to do that with one hundred and sixty acres of snow.
"Do you think dad will call a meeting at the rock circle?" Cera asked as she guided Tricia back into the cave, looking up at her step mother with her lips drawn in a little.
