The Fridge / Got me a new dog (well ok dingo)
« on: May 07, 2007, 09:45:38 PM »
well after more searching i do beleive hes not part dingo but full dingo. Found this pic that shows a dingo with the same red white streaked coat
and this one showing one with the same face coloratiion as mine

And from various sites it even says they can have various combanations of markings rust and white face with speckled brendel coat. That and the fact my other dogs do not react to his crawling all over me and no doggy breath or odor transfer from him to my hands as i pet him all are common only to dingos. No barking lots of various wines moans and howling like sounds heheh.

If when i bring him home it should be quite entertaining to see our other dogs reaction to a dog that looks like a dog but dont smell like one oh the poor confused dogs :)

"Dimwits"?

I like Nickelodeon, ToonDisney, and Cartoon Network. I don't really see what's so wrong about them. They aren't bad, really.
No they just got a bad habit of cancling shows that do well in ratings because one of the higher ups dont like a show or somethign who knows why. Maybe they plan on airing fewer eps per season than a full season to have more for sure years. I emailed them 3 times to ask no response.

Yeh thats a pick of a full dingo. Mines a mix (i think) But unlike other wild dogs wolves etc they dont turn agresive on you. Biggest thing with them is it is a long term deal. You cant get one then decide your gona give it away. The dog wont adapt to a ne home or family. Once they form a bond thats it. They will accept new members to their pack aka your family and will accept new pets etc. But i couldnt for example give him to you he would withdraw and basically morn him self to death. Now if i moved in with you as a room mate or some such then left a year or so after and left him with you hed be fine as hed accept you as a member of his pack and be fine with you.

I thin im gona ask a friend of mine if i can board him there for now. Maybe mow his lawn one or twice a week to pay for food and such. Ill be able to get around the normal you can give em awy deal because im gona socialise the heck out of him heh. With their non existant health isues they are a great dog. 5k to 15k year old breed so all that stuff is gone from them.

Not sure if hes pure dingo or not but he sure does have alot of dingo in him he is about 3 to 5 months old and treat me as he would the alpha dog of the pack. When he greets me he gets way low to the ground very submisive then basically licks me to death. Havent named him yet and dont got him here at my house just yet got to talk my dad in to allowign him here as we got 2 other dogs. But well hes only a few mile ride from my place here to my sisters new house. Going to start some obeience training here pretty quick and get him all set up with a dig house and huge long tie out. One i got a decent job if i dont bring him here ill build him a huge kenel like area backed against the hill side and dig him out a den. No picks of him just yet hopefully soon. But heres a picture of what he mostly looks like in the face http://home.vicnet.net.au/~dingolyn/images/dingoHowl2.jpg
His body color is 50 50 white and red streaked white belly white feet and tail tip. Like other dingos he doesnt bark just lots of whines moans and hes not howled yet hehe that should be intresting to hear the first time :p

The below is for thoose who think they may be intrested in haveing a dingo as a pet and for those with large breed barrel chested dogs.

By their nature dingos are a flight instead of fight breed in other words highly non agresive towards any thing but their prey. This is assumed to be do to persecution by most people and well like any trait if it aids in surivial  become a survival trait. In the case of a dingo if it acts agresive towards a person it will not live long it will be shot or poisoned or in some other fasion killed. Its really quite sad as they are a increbile breed of canine. They et to be between 50 and 70 pounds ( i think hell be in the 50 to 60 pound range) and can live to be 20 years old or older.

Unlike other "dog" breeds they take a single mate for life and breed only once a year. And have been known to morn them selves to death.

Thankfully they are not a "barrel chested dog" So little to no risk of "bloat" also called Gastric TORSION OR VOLVULUS.
Bloat is when the stomage twists and closes off at both ends gastric dilation while not as severe is also quite dangerous and has similar syptoms http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/bloat.html
I only learned of this incidious ailment when my own dog a rodesian ridge back died from it. From healthy and happy to dead in a short 2 and half days. Day one he acted sick nothing really majoreating grass to try and induce vomiting. Day 2 he refused to eat (called to set up apointment with vet for next morning got one at noon. next mornign i went to check on him right around 9 in the morning only to find him dead. If you have a mdium to large breed dog with the deep barrel shaped chest read that link and do some googling.

heh got to love scooby. Ill tell you some of the newer scooby movies are crazy good in animation area.

But yeh ctn is to pigish when comes to money. Wich is suprising considering ytv is a affiliate and are the total opisite.

Moreover The Rock that looks like a longneck looks very different from Saurus Rock.
As for the Mysterious Beyond, it was probably "mitigated" just the way the Sharpteeth were as somebody found the piles of dinosaur bones we see in the original and the movies 2 and 3 were "too scary" for kids <_<
Looking at the plots of the sequels it appears however that the disenchanting of the Great Valley (as not being the last green isle in a decaying world) was a step necessary to allow for more story lines which could not have been set in the Great Valley.
Perhaps there is still a possibility to try reconciling the situation of the first three movies with the image we get from the later movies. The land to the east of the Great Valley must definitely be a huge wasteland as this is the region they passed through in the original movie. The regions in the other directions may be less hostile. We know of a chain of mountains to the east of the Great Valley (the Burning Mountains). I'm no meteorologist, but if we assume predominant western winds for the Great Valley this might explain a higher degree of rainfall in the Great Valley region while the mountains may prevent frequent rainfalls east of them.
As for LBT 6, I don't think we ever saw the Mysterious Beyond during the movie. This is just a theory of mine, but I think that Saurus Rock is located at the outskirts of the Great Valley. A plateau which is difficult to reach for the inhabitants of the Great Valley any which is moreover avoided as it is accessible to sharpteeth. The Canyon through which Doc left (heading for a rather arid looking patch of land (though we didn't see much of it)) probably allows entrance to sharpteeth. But as the outskirts are completely unpopulated by any dinosaurs there is probably no reason for the carnivores to stay long. Of course they might figure out the way into the Great Valley, but it is questionable whether the sharpteeth of the sequels would want to enter a place as hostile to them as the Great Valley.
Well even todays top preditors lions wolves etc wont go after a helthy heard of prey animals to much risk for potentially no reward or even death. We see animals in a so called box canyon as a danger because they are baked in to a corner with no way out. But infact its not a bad idea for a pray species to go in to such places. It is very easy to defend sucha  place with only one entrance. If the entrance is choked off you get a kill zone where you just pick off individuals. Who ever is in such a area first has the advantage. In lbt dinos case the plant eaters got said advantage. A vally with very few entrances thatis fairly well explored by those living there. It is a easy to defend location and no preditor would dare try to gain entry.

Lol i know and cartoon network has a bad history for  no longer showing a series that is not cancled and is infact doing great in ratings. Firs time in my experiance was beast machines 2nd season. They aired no eps while ytv aired all and allowed a viewer to post online for non canadian audioances. Secound was first gundam wing series. Next time was with .hacksign and now we have land before time. Universal was quite pleased with ctn and wanted to have their series aired their. And now we are left wonderign when if ever new eps will air here in the us.

Why ctn does this who the heck knows they are most assuradly idiots though.

My school does have blocks up, so some of the sites will work, and some will not. However it is understandable they have the blocks up. Some students do go to nasty sites, they did here anyway and that's when they set up the blocks. And to top it off, they have SyncronEyez programed into the computers so that they can watch everything you do on the computer to make sure you are not goofing off. And if they catch you, they can lock up that computer and you are kicked out of the school library.
Some restrictions they place are going beyond protecting their computers and hardware. Forums are ripe with med school students not being able to search the key words breast cancer because it has the word breast in it. This is the fault of the admins who do not understand how to use whitelists along with black lists. I can easly for example deny searches for the word "breasts" used in conjuction with any thing but disease cancer pre cancer etc. There are boat loads of examples i could post that are school work research related.

Then theres the fact they can restrict to school only work except during lucnh for example. Admins need to stop being lazy and admin their networks. I do how ever agree that during class hours etc yeh you should not be browesing non school etc related content.

God.  My school has decided to make it a closed campus.  This really sucks because I cannot access this site through the school's network cuz it's blocked.  To get past this, I simply walk about 20 feet off campus to get a wifi signal from some nearby houses where his site is not blocked.  If they make this a closed campus, I will be unable to access this site during school ours.  I am building a special satellite dish that will extend my wifi from 700ft to up to 3500ft.  This should allow me to still connect to this site during school hours but it will probably take at least two weeks to build and cost about $15 if I do it correctly.  Is your school a closed campus?  How do you feel about it?
Why not make a cantenna same range more or less and smaller. For a sat type dish deal youll need a dish about 1 foot diam give or take. Dont think youll hits 3500 though regardless. Parker vision cards have 1 mile line of site when used with a parker vision AP so typically about 3/4 mile range.

Thankfully no more school for me but heh your lucky to have any access to net here in good old missrable ohio in any thing but college and their networks stink. Typically single t1 for a entire campus (t1 is good for about 200 usrers for them to each get say 128KB downloads but when your talking a 1000+ your getting more like 128K connection isdn and lots of drop outs and page load stalls etc. But heres a challenge for you set up a point to point with some one and break this distance.

10 miles. Ill tell you what it took for the person i know who did it. It took 2 10 foot satalite dishes one per end on the point to point the dishes were placed in 100 foot tall trees right up at the top and aimed by gps :)

From what he said the connection was pretty bad maybe half a meg on the ad hoc network

The problem is that they would blend any signs of Littlefoot having not overcome his mother's dead in the movie. What does "overcome" mean in this case anyway?
If "overcome" is to say that Littlefoot managed to deal with his grief so as to live on happily and not brood on his mother's fate all the time, then I would definitely agree that he came over it. He had his grieving time in the original movie and we don't see any really mournful moments caused by his mother's fate in the sequels.
She wasn't mentioned at all until LBT 5 where there were a few lines refering to her in the song Always There. Next time she was mentioned was in LBT 9 (where Littlefoot wished she had given him a brother and where a cloud shaped like her appeared in the sky), and finally there was a short mention of her and her fate in LBT 10.
This does not mean however that there are no such moments at all though their existence can neither be proven nor disproven so it is up to us to deceide what we want to think. There are some hints though which we might want to take into account when deciding how Littlefoot is probably dealing with his mother's fate:
Quote
I remember now
like it was yesterday
she would hold me close
and then I'd hear her say
You know I'll never leave you
You can find me everywhere
in the morning light and evening star
I'm always there
If these were the words of Littlefoot's mother I don't expect he will ever look into the morning light or watch the evening star without remembering his mother. This memory need not depress him. On the contrary he may even find that thought encouraging.
My interpretation is that Littlefoot is definitely still thinking about his mom. The death of a parent is far too important an event for a sensitive character like Littlefoot to just forget about it. He does not allow her fate to drag him down though. His mum died when she tried to save him. She "contacted" him even after her death to make him go on and find the Great Valley. Perhaps Littlefoot wants to live as good a life as he can to make his mother's sacrifice worthwhile (though I doubt he would spell out the thought like that).
Perhaps there is even a kind of "spiritual contact" such as the one we saw in the original movie (or probably one less direct). I've included a reference to Littlefoot's mother and some kind of contact in every land before time story I have written so far though that contact changed from a very explicit one (in the first story I ever wrote she more or less tells Littlefoot what to do in a dream) to a more subtle kind of contact. In my current story I let Littlefoot describe it like this:
Quote
“No, please stay. I don’t hear her anymore anyway. Already for quite a while, but I hoped I would hear her again.”
“Your mother?” asked Ducky quietly and Littlefoot nodded silently.
“You can hear her? What did she say?” asked Cera and a short moment later she added: “Or don’t you want to talk about it?”
“It is not as if she would speak and say do this or do that. It’s more that I feel her presence the same way I felt it during our journey to the Great Valley.” Littlefoot fetched deep breath. “Since then I felt it only very rarely and whenever I felt it something important happened shortly after. Good things sometimes and sometimes bad.”
“You believe something will happen, Littlefoot?” asked Petrie. Littlefoot smiled helpless and shrugged: “Maybe; at all events it has always been the case after I felt my mother so far.”
Apart from the morning light and evening star implication the presence of a cloud image of his mother in LBT 9 might indicate that there is still some kind of contact, but then again cloud images have been used so inflationary in LBT 10 (and possibly comparable "rock images" in LBT 6) that maybe the significance of a cloud image should not be overrated.
Quote
And on this topic, isn't it also a bit strange that Littlefoot is willing to take care of Chomper almost right away? I mean he may have been just a baby, but he was still a member of the same race that killed his mother.
I strongly  agree that this is a rather confusing aspect of LBT 2. The movie seems to start right after the end of the original movie (the song Peaceful Valley) suggests that no long time (possibly a few days) has passed since their arrival in the Great Valley and the fight with the Sharptooth. It is strange that Littlefoot of all was the one to adopt Chomper. Maybe Ducky would have been a more plausible choice.
I've often wondered whether or not Littlefoot ever told Chomper about his mother's fate.
As for playing Sharptooth attack it is kind of like our playing tag, so perhaps Littlefoot may not think too much about it. Human kids who lost a dear relative in war may well continue to play "war games" on the computer or with friends. I'm not sure if this can really be compared, but there is probably no unimpeachable explanation for Littlefoot's willingness to play sharptooth attack and adopt Chomper.
Perhaps Littlefoot really sees the death of his mother as part of the circle of life and will therefore not condemn sharpteeth in general. Supporters of the theory that revenge was a main motive for Littlefoot to kill the original movie's Sharptooth may assume that any possible hatred for Sharpteeth as a species died along with the sharptooth who killed his mother. People who don't assume revenge was a central point in Littlefoot's decision to get rid of the sharptooth (that includes me) may see the very lack of revengefulness (at least of that degree that determines actions over common sense) as a point which may help to explain his "open-mindedness" about Sharpteeth.
I never bought in to the revenge bit with little foot plotign the death of the sharp tooth. The sharptooth had tracked them for days or more likely weeks. In the end they seen a chance to take him out "get rid of him once and for all" and they took that chance.

Also remember the vallys entrance originally was fairly large even the cliff trail entrance they used was quite large. Simply put even if it was to small for a sharptooth to get through in the heat of the chase it would have given it a go possibly openign up the entrance large enough for him to enter the valley. So for that reason alone even if the entrance was mearly feet away they would need to get rid of him. Whie a sharp tooth out on a hunt would not bother with such a energy wastign chore risking injury to bust through a wall one mid chase would. So they had plenty of reason to want him gone for good beyond any want for vengence.

Which are the elements which you (all of you) think make a sharptooth ferocious? I suppose that both the inclusion and the exclusion of certain elements plays a tremendous role, but I don't want to enumerate my points right now to see if others will pick the same which I'm thinking of (I'm sure there are some I failed to include in my current list, but some of the points I thought of may not be seen as very important by everybody).
I think alot of it is the coloring of not so much the sharptooth in question but the coloring of the bg sky etc. Bright colors tend to be chearful while drab or muted or fuzzy color tends to be depressing or frightening depending on the situation. How many of us have a brightly colored bed room for example?

Then you got the fact bright colors distract the eye. Think of libraries not so much school or public libraries but personal one. They tend to have dark subdued colors or dark panelling so called rich deep etc wood tones. They also tend to not hav many diffrent colors in the same room. If you got a red panneling the trim will tnd to be a slightly less dark deep shade of the same color and finally youll have a beigh carpet.

Now take a look at the pics again youll notice something in common in each. The color pallet does not include many diffrent colors.

In the first one you have blues dark blues dark greens black shades and just a tiny ammount of orange-yellow in the end of the tunnel.

In the next you got oranges reds and dark yellows and just a touch of green.

Next down you have mostly green-yellows to yellow with some dark gren-gray rocks etc

In the final one you have dark green-grays and some greenish brown.

Now notice something else the sharp tooth in all cases stand out agaisnt the background in ither shadow or litt by the surroundings.

In other lbt films they are generally well lit wich takes away the fear of the unknown. Exceptions to that are the sail back sharp tooth in 12 the raptors seen in the series lonely journey where they were hidden in shadow a fair bit. To a point even the little cute carnosuard baby was in a dark environment (also lonely journey ep).

Thats why ive said a few tmes i think the series is closer to the first film in quality.

Good post malte im gona not reply with a qoute as well heh its a long post lol.

Mostly want to touch on the Grosvenor bit. I think we should try to find a email for him or some such and let him know that more than just kids watch these films. Id say that 20% to 30% of those who watch are young adults 16 to 20 then there are a few animation fanatics like me in the 20 to 40 year old range not to forget the parents while few who beleive in watchign their kids and watching films etc with their kids. Films when good should cause parents and children to talk about the film they just watched. This can be done via alot of comedic bits or by scary moments or both.

I think the goal of directors etc should be to get and keep parents and children talking or to get people talking regardless of age or relation.

In this case i seen the advert and thought wait a sec i know wheres there like a half dozen highly skilled video editing and composeing people who would be perfect for such a show. So i think you all know who you are who made so many fantastic videos for land before time and other animated etc films. Sure you edited the footage and re aranged set it to music but fact is if you can do that well i bet you can do all the rest to. So i think you guys need to at least have a look at this. This is a universal and fox show speilberge is involved so you really do need to take a chance guys and gals. Any how a least check it out and see whats what.
