Silver Screen / An American Tail

I asked this question once again on the Don Bluth Films Facebook page, and this was their response:

Quote
Good catch. You are absolutely correct. Yes, it was "sort of" intentional. And no, there were no potions involved.
Warren T is a runt cat, smaller than the cats but larger than the adult mice, not by much. The idea was that he was the bully of the cats. A little guy with a huge ego and a bullying attitude, sometimes referred to as a Napolean complex. And, with his small size and a crude disguise, he could pass himself off as a rat and a "friend", offering to help new-comers to America, get a job. Tiger on the other hand was a huge cat, two to three times as big as the cat gang members, and literally towered over Fievel.
Many times, trying to stage the various character sizes, like Warren T. with Fievel vs, Papa with Fievel, together within their environment meant we took some liberties or artistic license to avoid cutting off parts of their image on screen and give the shot a believable and pleasant appearance, without having to draw tiny minute images of Fievel.
Actually, as far back as I can remember, we've never had a viewer write to us about the discrepancy in the Warren T's size. We thought that some in the audience might have brought up the size changes on Tiger during the "A Duo" song performance. Which, was a much more radical discrepancy. But, no one did.
Again, good catch and thank you for asking about it.
Hmm, interesting insight on Mr. Bluth’s part. Yes...

I only saw this film several months ago, nearly a year, and it was so... so incredibly hard on Fievel for him to go through all of those things, and still find his family while meeting new friends blew my mind for me. It was just overwhelming.  :(

Attic Treasures / Anyone Used To Read The Magic Treehouse Books?
« on: January 07, 2016, 03:38:17 PM »
It has been a very, very long time. But yes, I have read a great number of them. I cannot say how many, or which once, but they quite interesting at the time I read them. The farthest, I can remember reading up to was either the Polar Bears or the Lions. I can’t remember exactly, but I ran out of steam by then. I ought to re-read them again.

Hey, ARAJediMaster, I refuse to watch those videos. And Ace is exactly right. The new film is excellent while the prequels were terrible. Deal with it. You have no right to try to dampen anyone's enjoyment of this film, regardless of how butthurt you are. The only documentary I am willing to listen to regarding the prequels are the Red Letter Media ones.
I should have expected that you would reply like that. It goes to show how little you truly know. Star Wars is a far larger galaxy than you know, and these links will help to explain:

George Lucas personally worked with others help expand and enrich his universe in places where his films could not go. While the focus of the six Star Wars films (six because not only do I refuse the new movie and material produced under Disney as canon, but because the company snubbed Lucas by “playing it safe” with their story and rehashed Episode IV when they said they would have him as a consultant) is not simply about adventure and excitement; it is about society, opposing races setting aside their differences working together for the common good, the corruption of government and the rise of dictators, the conflict of families, the temptation and fall of a hero, how his children learn to cope with their heritage, and how one goes far enough to free his father while keeping his integrity.

I pity you. I do not hate you, only pity you if you refuse to open your eyes to these meanings.

A rather bold claim, Ace. Perhaps you would be willing to back it up?

I may not know how many prequel fans there are in comparison, but I will tell that there are those who accept it and the originals as canon, along with a few with the Expanded Universe. Here is something you should see:

Given all the hype and praise TFA is getting, let us step back and look for something else that isn’t overhyped or overrated. I give you: Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command; otherwise known as the Thrawn Trilogy. A fine set for anybody who really wanted to know what actually happens with Luke, Han, and Leia; a carefully constructed plot and villain, new characters who are truly alive and breathing, and an excellent continuation of our three heroes.

Other recommended books are the Hand of Thrawn Duology, consisting of Specter of the Past, and Vision of the Future where it talks about how vulnerable republics can be, as well as the end of the Galactic Civil War; the Bounty Hunter Wars, with the books The Mandalorian Armor, Slave Ship, and Hard Merchandise, which tell stories about the bounty hunters in The Empire Strikes Back, how they got to come together, and where they went after Return of the Jedi; the Tales of the Jedi which tell the legends of the Jedi 4,000 before A New Hope; the Darth Bane trilogy, Path of Destruction, Rule of Two, and Dynasty of Evil which talks of the destruction and rebirth of the Sith Order in the hands of Darth Bane, and why the Jedi presumed them to be extinct; and Darth Plagueis which tells of Plagueis’ role in training Palpatine, his apprentice’s rise to power, the experiments on the midi-chlorians, and Plagueis’ death at Palpatine’s hands.

Say! That’s sounds like a good idea, except it would a ninja dinosaur, just so you know. And the others should become ninja dinosaurs too.

CERA: Why’d you take this apart now?! I’m trying to get us out of here, and you pull of thoseó

(the gang notices Cera’s strange behavior)

CERA: Put ’em back together right now!

(she looks at the gang)

CERA: What do you want?

When the Confederacy of Independent Systems (Separatists) decided to set up a listening outpost on the remote system on Earth, the gang finds out the hard way what “heavy fire” is like when the Republic came knocking on the Droid Army’s door.

After the gang escaped the shark that attacked them, Littlefoot had only one comment on the matter: “We’re going to need a bigger boat.”

EDIT: Alright! I’ve been promoted to Chomper!

Land Before Time Captions / Petrie is shocked!
« on: November 16, 2015, 08:01:33 PM »
Apparently, Petrie had thought that floating on air on his back would be the same as floating on water. He’ll find out the truth to that when he comes crashing back down to earth.

Land Before Time Captions / Cera's happy and looking at you
« on: November 16, 2015, 07:50:20 PM »
CERA: Um... I-I don’t even know where to start with you. I mean, do you even know who you’re talking to?

(she gesticulates toward a sign saying “Meet Cera”)

(A Velociraptor pins down a rat-like animal with its foot, and prepares to kill it when Cera’s tail taps its leg. It turns to look at her)

CERA: Yo, what’s up?

(cut to original scene)

CERA: D-do you have any ideaóany idea of who I am?

(The raptor shrieks as it pursues Cera; she flees screaming like a maniac)

CERA: Basically, kind of a big deal.

(Now the raptor finds itself wedged between a gap of rocks trying to squeeze through, with Cera on the other side, blowing raspberries at it)

(cut back to Cera showing off her body like a bodybuilder)

CERA: Oh, yeah, isn’t that beautiful?

(she chuckles weakly)

(Cera tries to pull away from the raptor as it holds onto her tail with its teeth)

CERA: You listenin’? Okay. Ferns grow, flyers fly, sun shines, and brother? I hurt dinos.

(She bumps the camera with horn, just like in Walking with Dinosaurs)

CERA: Boink!

(Just as the raptor is about to land the killing blow, Cera stomps on its toes. It jumps up and down in pain)

(cut back)

CERA: I’m a force of nature!

(She rams into the predator’s stomach, winding it)

CERA: Bonk!

(cut back)

CERA: If you were from where I was from, you’d be dead!

(Cera runs up a ramp and pile-drives into the raptor’s head as it tries to slink away)

CERA: Woo!

(An upbeat fanfare plays as a still shot of the gang pulls back from Cera. The title “The Land Before Time” appears below them)

(Cera and the rat share some ferns with each other over the unconscious raptor)

Chomper and his friends investigate a cynodont burrow.

CHOMPER: (sniffing) Hey! What’s that smell?

Littlefoot and Ducky smell it too.

LITTLEFOOT: Phew! It smells gross!

DUCKY: It is not a nice smell, nope, nope, nope.

LITTLEFOOT: Petrie, can you see inside the hole?

Petrie flies up above the others and peers inside.

PETRIE: Nope. Me no see nothing.

Ducky leans in to look.

CHOMPER: What’s inside?

As he sticks his head inside, the cynodont’s pokes its own head out and growls at them.

The gang scatters.

Land Before Time Captions / Pterano and Rinkus 2
« on: August 30, 2015, 11:18:24 AM »
After Rinkus berated Ducky, first for throwing the ball in the wrong direction, then for crying when there should not be, supposedly, crying in the game, Pterano came up to see what was wrong.

PTERANO: What’s going on, Rinkus?

RINKUS: Whatóshe was crying, sir.

DUCKY: (sobbing) I didn’t mean to do that.

PTERANO: It seems, perhaps, you chastised her too vehemently. A good rule of thumb for you; treat each of these females as you would treat your mother.

Rinkus nods without actually meaning it.

RINKUS: (under his breath) Did I ever tell you you look like a male’s privates with your crest and all?

Pterano stops and turns back at Rinkus, and this picture happens.

PTERANO: YOU’RE OUT OF HERE! RIGHT NOW, RINKUS! I HEARD THAT!

The two then begin an argument.

After Littlefoot and Cera gather the leaves into a pile, Ducky is eating a tree sweet and notices the pile.

DUCKY: CHARGE!

She charges at the pile and jumps in, scattering some of the leaves. Some of them stick to the half-eaten tree sweet.

DUCKY: Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet, half-eaten tree sweet.

LITTLEFOOT AND CERA:  :rolleyes  :anger
