Don't they count in the great valley?I don't remember hearing numbers in the dialogue. Don't they count their numbers just in case someone is missing or so there won't be a risk of starvation or malnutrition? I bet the sharpteeth count and sized up their prey or rivals.

They do show Ruby counting during hide and seek game. It may be the Canyon of Shiny Stones. She does it with her eyes closed I Think and counts, "1 treestar, 2 treestars," and so on. & Ducky in (I think it was the 6th movie mentions having 13 twins, so they do seem to count.

Perhaps they don't have a concept for bare numbers without anything that is being counted. While the "number" 13 may not exist for them 13 twins, treestars, mountains, etc. are something they can understand.

That's what I think too.

Certain concepts may never occur or may never be understood or thought up by the dinos in the lbt universe.

In LBT 5, Petrie's mom counts her children before finding out Petrie is missing, though she might have going by names. In LBT 2, Ducky figures out that all of the eggs are safely in the nest, though she mght have just realized that there aren't any spaces or gaps. In "Canyon of Shiny Stones," had the contest not been so one-sided, they must have known how to distinguish who found the most geodes.
