Happy Star Day, Rhombus!  :)petrie :celebrate

They should hire me to be their audio editor! :)petrie

I was doing a LBT XII re-score project last year and found more realistic Spinosaurus sounds for the Sailback scene.

35 years later, and the original has never lost its lovable charm with its young, precious, innocent cast of beloved dinosaurs of different kinds who banded together to become everyone's favorite dinosaur group.  Happy Star Day, Land Before Time, and I guess Happy Starday to all five of those lovable kids! :littlefoot:) :cerasus :duckyhappy :)petrie :spikeblush

Thanks for the Star Day wishes!  My birthday ended up being very small, but any birthday is happy with the traditional Reese's peanut butter ice cream cake!  :)petrie

:)petrie "Hey, everyone!  Meet me new flying friends!"

:littlefoot "Petrie sure has found some strange new friends."

:duckyhappy "Those friends look so amazing!  Yep, yep, yep!"

:cerasus "Very strange if you ask me.

 :spikenotamused "Hmm?"

Yep!  Another piece of crossover artwork, only this time around we have characters from THREE different universes!  Isn't diversity just wonderful?  :)petrie

I wanted to make a wallpaper for my new Samsung phone, only to discover a harsh truth that Samsungs don't have scrollable wallpapers, so I was forced to make a vertical version, hence why two versions exist here.

Petrie seemed like a seamless character from the Orig to Sequels. He always has been a favorite of mine. I would suggest I like him more in The Sequels since he has more development as a character.

^Same! I admit to not thinking much of Petrie prior to the seventh sequel, but after that and seeing him in more movies: I love that he has a dry sense of humor. He's not physically strong or all that agile since he's still a baby pterosaur, but he channels his inner Chandler from Friends every now and then.

Finally!  Someone who agrees with me!  :)petrie :petrieLOL

"DiddyK" comes from Diddy Kong, my all-time favorite fictional character, and "F1" comes from Formula 1, since I'm such an obsessive motorsport fanatic. :)petrie  Funnily enough, I was originally DiddyKF1Enthusiast on YouTube and a few other places for a while, but I later decided to shorten it to just "DiddyKF1" because I wanted a shorter name and it just ticked and stuck ever since! :petrieLOL

Have you ever considered writing a Diddy Kong fan fict on GOF?

I would prefer all my non-LBT fanfictions to just be on either FanFiction or DeviantArt.

Which is your favorite of the Donkey Kong Country Games?

Returns is the only one I've had playing experience with.  I was too young to experience the SNES days.

Land Before Time Captions / Why the long face?
« on: April 28, 2023, 12:30:16 AM »

:feelsbadman "Why the long face?  Did you hurt yourself during your morning flight?"

 :(petrie "You no wanna know."

15
But you called him a “cowardly flightless nobody” in the original and basically said that he was unlikeable before LBT 7. So being a smaller sidekick character meant nothing in 1-6?

Just to clarify that, he wasn't a "cowardly flightless nobody" in MY eyes, but rather in the eyes of most other characters except the Gang, particularly in Flyer society.  My unfinished Petrie prequel story goes all in on this, stating that Petrie's inability to fly would surely have been considered a shameful disgrace in the eyes of other Flyers prior to the events of the first movie.

16
How nice to see I inadvertently started a Petrie conversation. :)petrie

And, ... um, wow, am I really the only one who thought Petrie was better in the sequels?  Uh, that would certainly make me feel like an oddball.  :petrie

In a way, I see Petrie as a diamond in the rough, since I have a soft spot for smaller sidekick characters who get their occasional moment in the spotlight, which Petrie did in the 12th film.

Congratulations on completing this project.  :)littlefoot The time that this had to have taken, both for film watching and the resulting calculations, had to have been quite extensive.

The final totals do provide some interesting surprises.  I am not shocked that Ruby had the least screen time of the main gang as, if it wasn't for the 14th film, she would not have had any screen time at all.  Mama Swimmer breaking into the top ten (beating Chomper no less) was also quite the surprise to me.  Petrie making it into fourth place was also quite the comeback for him considering how starved for time he was in some of the early films.  Though I don't think there was any surprises in the top three.  Cera will be a bit mad about being shut out of 1st place, however.  :taunttroll

Thanks, rhombus!  This is definitely a project that made me sweat a lot.  As I said, this project took nearly a month for me to complete, and it is very interesting to see some cool surprises for some of these characters.  Even I originally didn't predict that Mama Swimmer would make it to the top ten, but Big Freeze provided a big boost that propelled her to the top ten, even managing to beat Chomper and take the #9 slot; quite a formidable feat.  In fact, Chomper almost didn't make the top ten after briefly losing 10th place to Guido after Great Day of the Flyers, but Journey of the Brave pulled him right back up to 10th.

And yes, we all need to give Petrie a big round of applause for his valiant comeback effort in the final four films, including his crowning achievement in Great Day of the Flyers (which I can't stress enough).  Stone of Cold Fire and Great Day of the Flyers were the only films I predicted Petrie would win medals in, but he obviously exceeded my expectations by soaring into plenty of scenes from the 11th film onward. :)petrie

Fourteen films, and yet Cera never stood a chance at winning Gold in any of them.  Playing second fiddle to Littlefoot seems to be all she's good at, and it now it's open for all of us to see. :ceramad

Statistics that many of us never realized we really wanted to see. Sure is good to see the final results at last. While I'm sure we all completely expected Littlefoot to win by a landslide, and the total results of the top 5 are perhaps what some of us might have expected, some of the more detailed movie-by-movie results sure provided some interesting observations. My personal favorite from all of this is how Chomper managed to reach 10th on the final list. No wonder he was the one former guest character to be made a main character for the TV series.

Speaking of which, I still would very much like to see you (or perhaps someone else if necessary) try this same project for all 26 episodes of the TV series, at least as its own list separate from this one. The episodic format allowed the spotlight to be shared more equally among all seven of the main characters. In fact, I am absolutely convinced that, going by the format used here, each of the Gang of Seven could get at least one gold medal, and I'd like to see for myself if that's true (I'm sure Cera would like for that to be proven for her sake ;) ). I'm not trying to insist that you start on it right away, but I just wanted to express how interested I am in seeing this project be extended to the TV series.

Chomper definitely proved himself to be top ten material, but he was briefly threatened by Guido after the 12th film.  Think about it; had Journey of the Brave not happened, Chomper would not have made the top ten.  Guido would have ended up in 10th place!   :ChomperOhhh :GuidoAAAAAHHHHHH

I mentioned this on the Discord server, but I may consider a separate screen time project for the TV series, but given how I just wore myself out with this project for the movies, I need time to replenish so I can find more creative ways to stay active on the forum whilst the VO for the 7th movie remains trapped in obscurity.  I mean, not like I can just grab my microphone and do random Petrie stuff!  I will probably wait until late spring or early summer to do a screen time project for the TV series.  I'm not ruling out the possibility, but I can't make any promises right now.

This is it!  It's time to hand out the BIG prizes!  Let's see who made the top three and earned the right to stand on the podium for this Land Before Time screen time project!

3RD

Yep, yep, yep!  Ducky earns a place on the podium by ranking in 3rd place with a total of 4 hours, 26 minutes and 41 seconds of screen time!  She started off the series by shockingly beating Cera for the Silver (to think that the late Judith Barsi got more screen time than Candace Hutson)!  However, that turned out to be a fluke for some time, as she would only beat Cera once more, and that, of course, was in Big Freeze, where she proceeded to beat EVERYONE, including Littlefoot, winning her one and only Gold medal and being the one who shattered Littlefoot's perfect run!  It was very nice to actually see her as the main character of a movie, as we see her relationship with Spike become strained and slowly deteriorate throughout the movie.  She gives him the cold shoulder in his presence, but she secretly begins to feel guilty.  However, she finally snapped when the Spiketails were getting ready for their departure, resulting in Spike leaving her to join Tippy and the other Spiketails.  She immediately regretted her actions in the aftermath, and she decided to take matters into her own hands by sneaking out to find her former foster brother, desperate to have him back.  Her misadventure only succeeded in her and the Gang finding a hot spring, which they brought their families to so they could relax and keep warm, and soon after her wish to have Spike back came true, resulting in a happy reunion in which Ducky was finally able to redeem herself.  I absolutely love Ducky, and she is my second favorite character in the series just behind Petrie.  She initially looked as though she would be a formidable opponent to Cera and battle it out for second place.  Sadly, though, Cera gradually pulled away from her, and after Great Longneck Migration (where she won would turned out to be her final medal), Petrie began his massive comeback run and so nearly came within striking distance of Ducky in a potential challenge to take her off the podium, but in the end, Ducky held on to third with all her might and earns the Big Bronze for this project! Yep, yep, yep! :duckyhappy

2ND

In 2nd place, taking the Big Silver for this project, is Cera!  She had a total of 4 hours, 53 minutes and 13 seconds of screen time, beating Ducky by over 25 minutes.  A character whom I HATED when the series began, she vastly improved during the sequels as she grew closer to Littlefoot and the others despite her father's low views on them, and she was more often than not the secondary character in most sequels.  She did still show her gruff side very often, but it was nowhere near as bad as it was when the series began.  She had her occasional clashes with Littlefoot, but always settled things down in the end.  Crazy fact: Cera was the ONLY character who placed in the top 3 in ALL 14 films, all because of Littlefoot failing to make the top 3 in Great Day of the Flyers.  Cera thus ended up with a perfect score of 14 medals, beating out Littlefoot's 13.  However, ... she never won a single Gold medal.  She was only ever in either 2nd place or 3rd place.  She only beat Littlefoot once, and yet in that one film where she DID beat him, she was in turn bested by both Petrie and Guido.  With eight Silvers and six Bronzes, Cera solidified her status as someone who would forever be in Littlefoot's shadow. :littlefoot:) :ceramad

And finally, our big winner ...

Drum roll, please!

1ST

And to the surprise of absolutely nobody, Littlefoot, the fearless, lovable Longneck leader of the Gang of Seven (formerly known as the Gang of Five) takes a massive landslide victory with a 14-film total of 6 hours, 47 minutes and 30 seconds, putting him ALMOST TWO HOURS ahead of Cera!  :littlefoot:)  Seriously, though, was there any doubt on who #1 would be?  No way!  We all knew Littlefoot would be #1 from the beginning, and he showed it, too.  It was as if the universe centered around him, and it even shows by his medal count.  Just look at how many Golds he won!  He won the Gold for every movie except Big Freeze and Great Day of the Flyers, the latter of which he failed to even make the top three and allowed Cera to win the medal count.  This brave, young Longneck was just ... EVERYWHERE (let me emphasize that, seeing how much screen time he had), always lending a helping hand to those in need while also satisfying his lust for adventure, earning great respect and admiration from all those around him.  Even I must admit that I adore Littlefoot as a character, as he was the one who really brought everyone into his prehistoric world, and he even brought many different kinds of kids together at a time when everyone always kept to their own kind.  His curiosity ultimately landed him four hard-earned friends on a quest to find the Great Valley, and he soon gained one more in a friendly Sharptooth, and years later yet another one when a pink Fast Runner who became said Sharptooth's caregiver also joined the Gang.  When the kids are in times of peril, their first instinct is to look up to Littlefoot for his leadership, and most of the time he leads them all to success.  By now, it would become clear that Littlefoot would undoubtedly grow up to become the next leader of the Great Valley when his grandparents eventually pass on.  With nearly seven hours of total screen time, Littlefoot had no competition, and sometimes he won his Gold medals in dominating fashion, even a few of them being won by a margin of around ten minutes!  So, here stands Littlefoot on the top step of the podium! :littlefoot:)

And with that, that is the end of my Land Before Time screen time experiment!  I had a lot of fun working on this project!  It took me almost a month to get all the numbers, but I'm sure glad I pulled off a productive start to 2023 after this forum suffered such a horrendously inactive 2022.  Massive thanks to all of you who supported me on this project, and hopefully one of these days we can get our Stone of Cold Fire voiceover moving along again.  Roles are still plentiful!

That's all for now, though.  Until next time, take care of yourselves and each other, and I just might be back with another possible way to keep 2023 productive!  Peace! :)petrie
