This is among the most genius of concepts for a horror game, read it for yourself!

What games make your skin crawl and your throat swell shut (by definition I don't mean horrifyingly horrible, I mean terrifyingly scary!)

So which Ancient scared you most?   Yeah, this game was like no other experience I've ever had in gaming. Too bad its more a of cult classic thing than mainstream, else we may actually see a sequel. I'd like to have the yellow colored magkic we saw in that one part of the game with the fire fighter explained.

not a real horror fan, but I respect good games, and I've NEVER heard of anything so genius, but I've never played it... however... I stand by my opinion that the creator deserves a cookie... but anyone else have any scariest games of all time?

I've heard RE4 and Silent Hill are on there, but I've not seen as much from-the-player's -perspective gameplay...

E-Eternal Darkness? That...Game...Is awesome...

I missed it during the Gamecube days but after learning about it and reading up on it I went out and bought a used copy and never looked back. Gotta love those sanity effects.

whoever was in on that board meeting had to have sounded strange though lol

"well... why don't we shut off their TV? or corrupt their memory card? or disconnect their controller"

"are you crazy? are you high?"

"no, well... yes... well... maybe a little of both"

"let's try it then"

"lol"

just because I'd love to see a board meeting with "lol" in it

That's an easy one! The Silent Hill series! I defy you to be more psychologically horrified! =D Brilliant series, in my opinion.

It doesn't really scare me, though, because I'm a horror fanatic =D Skullmonkeys has really terrified me, though XD because I'm afraid of claymation for some reason

Here's my list, and this is my opinion only:

Silent Hill 2
Resident Evil 4
Condemned
F.E.A.R.

These games scared the crap out of me the first time I played them.

Gotta agree with the masses there. I think Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem has to be the freakiest game I've played! I don't mind horror but I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to random things jumping out of the screen inexplicably  :(  :lol I have screamed like a little 5-year old girl coz of that game I'll admit  :DD Mind you, playing it on your own, in an empty house at stupid o' clock (any time after 1am) probably wasn't the best of plans :^.^:

F.E.A.R is another good one. That girl that just bloody well pops out outta nowhere. And the way your HUD screen flickers and crackles when something freaky's due to happen. You KNOW it's gonna happen but you just dunno when! :DD

I wouldn't really consider Resi Evil to be scary as such, but the monster designs beyond your standard zombies (or NON-zombies in RE4's case) were creepily cool. The producers must have asked young kids what their nightmares consisted of so they could use them to freak the crap outta gamers 3 times their age  :lol

Condemned is another but I haven't played that one

it's got to be dead rising or gears of war, when all the light's in the mall are turned off in dead rising you cant see the zombie's at all.

Cookie for Stupid O' Clock, I'mma save that one XD

I haven't ever played it, but when I hear "mysteriously disconnect intentionally" I'm horrified alone, then reading more about it, it seemed like a genius game, and yet it went fairly unknown around here =/ =\

I've only got one game that freaks me out and that's an old Resident Evil game, "Resident Evil: Dead Aim". I don't play it much anymore because my nerves just destroy me. (and not to mention the game play is just like a maze where you'll never know which door or tunnel to go in and zombies attack you from every corner -_- )

No game has scared me yet, but my nerves would be on edge when I used to play Doom.  Some moments in the story mode of MK: Armageddon have me tense also, but that's about it.

For me, it would have to be BioShock.  It wasn't that scary really but it is the only "horror" game I have ever played.  It had a few scary scenes in it.  For example, when you first enter Rapture and the splicer jumps onto the submarine and begines to rear through the top while you are inside with no weapons.  Another one that got me was when I was walking down a half flooded hall and could see the shadow of a splicer around the corner.  Then the lights went out, you hear footsteps in the water, and the lights turn back on.  The splicer is nowhere to be seen.  (he attacks you later on).  Then there are several other times where you will go to pick something up and when you turn around, there is a splicer right behind you.  The big daddies really aren't that scary.

I don't play horror games... they give me the creeps. Tjhe closest I come is "The Legacy of Kain" series, which isn't scary in the slightest... just a little spooky now and again.

Think I'd have to agree with Cancerian Tiger on this one.  I'm a CRAZY Doom fanatic!  (With Doom and Doom II - for me, anyway - it wasn't fear of the levels and the dark, so much as it was adrenaline at the fast-paced action, and loads and loads of monsters coming to re-arrange the Space Marine's anatomy...  Not to mention the traps...)  Next to Chrono Trigger, it's the game I've played the most, or at least, the game I remember playing the most - though, Doom wins by a LANDSLIDE compared to how much I've played Chrono Trigger.  (Which, isn't scary at all; it's cool!)  I don't like horror movies; I personally see them as demonic.  (Well, but who's gawking?  I've played Doom III, haven't I?  Took me TWO YEARS to be able to upgrade my computer just to do it though!)  Yeah Doom III was, uh, pretty Hell-ish, so who am I to say anything in that regard?  I don't play Doom III as much, because my computer can't handle much besides the main game, which gets old after a while...  And yeah, people complained about it not being overly complex, and having "overused" horror scenarios...  But hey, with the mod-ability of the game, you can create new horror scenarios within the game that can really...  Ugh, gross you out...  For me, the part I found the most horrifying, would have to be, the "growth;" oh god, I'm almost getting dizzy sick just thinking about it!  The way it seemed to be "alive," and it made that sick, slimy sound...!!  Ooohh...  God...  So...  Sick!  You even have to walk THROUGH IT at certain points!!  Soooo...  Soooooo...  Siiick!!
"And the Most High said unto Moses, Ahayah-Asher-Ahayah.  And he said, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel, Ahayah hath sent me unto you...  This is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations."

1953-2011...  One day, mother, I shall see you again...
