Legend of Zelda movie...?

I never expected this, but i guess a Zelda movie is being made (check the trailer out here http://movies.ign.com/articles/863/863492p1.html) I'm feeling a bit skeptical about this movie at the moment for the main reason that movies based on video games have never been good ( the only good one being FFVII: Advent Children in my opinion). Anyways, what are your thoughts on this?

Take anything with a grain of salt and think about what information can be trusted and which cannot. Extremes like believing or not believing anything no matter what are bound to let you think wrong of something; even on April 1st.
In case of an ever silent character like Link a movie adaptation is very unlikely and if the link was posted on April 1st there is a good reason not to trust it too much.

On the contrary Malte, I have actually heard about this movie much prior to today, from friends and coworkers who are fans of the series. I don't follow Zelda enough to have any proof one way or the other, but I'm just saying there is a definite possibility of this actually being completely true.

The movie looks promising and interesting, that's true. But Link and Ganondorf don't look quite the part. And I think this movie has been proven to be an april fools joke.

BTW, action9000, maybe they were talking about this other Zelda movie? Contrary to this one, this Zelda movie is actually being made and it's FAN MADE.

Ok, I am very skeptical about this movie. Although I will agree that most movies off of video games are bad, they aren't all bad (Resident Evil, Tomb Raider 1, Mortal Kombat 1...) We could tell that the movie wouldn't exactly follow the games, but judging from the appearances of certain bosses/sub bosses it looks like it's based the most off of Ocarina of Time.

The one thing that will ruin this movie for me is if Link speaks. One word, and the movie automatically stinks.

There's nothing listed under imdb.com about a forthcoming Zelda movie. If there was an official trailer then I'd assume there would be a page up for it on the site. Well, as stated, I agree that the majority of live action movie versions of VGs do tend to be a bit soft (bar a few exceptions). The one I'm quite looking forward to is Resi Evil:Degeneration. It's a new CGI flick Capcom are working on. The trailers are on the DVD of the 3rd instalment of the Milla Jovovich films (which weren't too bad).

On the note of VG movies, is it true there is supposed to be an Metal Gear Solid flick in the pipeline? I've heard talk about it from years ago but is it truly substanciated? Since the movie of Konami cutscenes for MGS are pretty much movie styled already, maybe this one might actually be good...if the rumours are true that is

Uwe Boll, the director responsible for butchering of a handful of videogames with his awful videogame-based movies like House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark, once said he recently got the rights for a Metal Gear Solid movie. Imagine all the negative outburst from Metal Gear fans.

Fortunately Hideo Kojima, the creator and writer of Metal Gear Solid, responded a big, loud "Absolutely not!" when asked if he actually gave the rights to Uwe Boll for making a Metal Gear Solid movie.

So take a deep breath of relief, a Metal Gear Solid movie WON'T happen. And count your lucky stars, Uwe Boll would've ruined the game with making a movie out of it for sure. (Like what he did with House of the Dead, Alone with the Dark, Postal, Doom, and a few others).

I'm sceptic. It's a nice idea, but a movie based on a game where the main character only knows how to say :"YAH!" "HIYA" and "OUCH", sounds pretty freaked out!

The Zelda games are great btw, Twilight Princess was to easy though...I beated it in two days

Lol! A Mario movie? Did they pick a fat italian actor and made him jump onto mushrooms!? That would've been something!

Still it's intressting how many movies that are based on games, from what i know, they get alot of critisim. I can understand Resident Evil, but not Zelda orMario.
Those must have been made just for fun?

I don't know if Bob Haskins is Italian or not. You can see a poster of the movie and the 2 main actors at the wikipedia page about the movie. I remember seeing it on the tv and not caring for it much. As I recall it was like a bad b movie.

I actually loved the Super Mario Bros. movie. Sure it had nothing to do with the games but to me it was funny and pretty good. It was goofy, had some references to the games (Mushroom, bullet bills, a super scope-like gun, a bob-omb and of course Yoshi), and it had a not-too-serious plot, just like the games.
