You guys know that parkour scene in Casino Royale? Mix that up with you being shot at, along with ridiculously colorful buildings and interiors; and you've got Mirrors Edge.

I think it looks like an awsome game; what do you guys think?

I've played Mirror's Edge and, as much as I like it, I did have some issues with it. For the pros, the gameplay is excellent. It's fast, it's exciting and got a fresh new way to how action/adventure and platformers can be played. Graphics are crisp and the first person view on absolutely everything from the parkour (free-running) movements to character interaction is great.

As for the cons, there are too many things that prevent this from being truly captivating. The combat system is poor. The fighting lacks impact and the counter system is merciless. The window in which you have to react to countering an enemy's melee attack is stupidly small and often very frustrating coz once you try and miss, they'll either smack you out with a follow up attack or just gun you down as you try to flee. Second, the game, as stunning as the environments looks, leaves far too much to trial and error; with a LOT of emphasis on the ERROR part. Mis-timed jumps, going the wrong way, getting lost, jumping too far, not jumping far enough... It gets irritating having to repeat the same sections over and over coz of the unforgiving nature of the game. Lastly is continuity. Once you've finished the game, there is not an awful lot to do with it afterwards besides time trials. Even a multiplayer (online/offline) race mode would have been cool to pit your moves against other players globally but there is nothing else sadly.

All in all, Mirror's Edge is a game I would get but I probably wouldn't keep it. Its concepts and motions are great but its overall length and gaming mechanics let it down big time. Yet again EA have great intuaitive ideas but their implementation forces it to trip and fall on its face. Concept's awesome but EA have pretty much just set the game field for someone else to come along and do it much better.
