Malte, I don't think that's what Caustizer meant when he said that he mistook the rule as a form of punishment.

I thought the awards system was implemented as a fun and morale-boosting way to express appreciation to members and encourage forum contributions, not to glorify some members over others. I think some people are taking the whole thing too seriously.

That was the purpose of the GOF awards when I started them in 2006.  2010 seems to tell a different tale when it comes to how people perceive the GOF awards.  Please vote in the poll in the Rock Circle, and lets not hijack this thread any longer.
