LBT Fanfiction / The Cold Time
« on: April 24, 2007, 08:13:38 AM »
Heh, wow! Bringing back both Chomper and Ali in the same chapter? Some would say it's ambitious, but I say it works! Poor Ali's gonna be so confused... Great job- few could probably pull off bringing both of them back, but that was a very interesting way to do so.

And great picture, by the way. Better than I could do, that's for sure! ... *not really saying much, but it's the thought that counts*

Great to see the gang's all back together again and (relatively) unharmed! This new valley worries me, though. I don't know why, but for some reason I have a feeling that there are going to be some not friendly dinosaurs there.

Of course, this may just be the pessimist in me. Maybe the gang'll find someone who can help them.

General Land Before Time / Tv series replacing sequals?
« on: April 21, 2007, 09:36:48 PM »
Well, there's already been confirmed LBT 13, right? So that means there's at least going to be one more movie.

The series is good, yeah, but I woudln't want it to replace the series. There are some little stories that can't take up a whole movie, so that's where the series comes in. It should be used to display those events that can't make it into the movie. Sequels should be used to give us a larger story that can't be explained in 22 minutes, like what they should've done with Ali's reintroduction and such. Just so long as the movies and the series don't start contradicting each other (ie, refering to things that have happened in the series, but not having Chomper and Ruby in the movie), then I'm fine with both.

Episode Discussion / Discuss: Escape from the Mysterious Beyond
« on: April 21, 2007, 09:30:09 PM »
I really liked this episode. It reminded me of the movies I came to love, and it really fleshed out Chomper's insecurity of being small. I caught a few bad-animation moments (ie. when the tree-bridge fell), but nothing to make me growl and stop watching. The only part that really bugged me was the fact that Chomper's growls were human-made. I loved hearing Chomper in LBT 5 (heh, especially the clicks), and I was disappointed upon seeing it's his voice actor attempting to do Sharpteeth sounds. I have to wonder, though, who did his growls, clicks, and roars in the movie? Did they ever credit the person, or was it his old voice actor who actually did them?

General Land Before Time / Honesty

Oh, I'd definately say yes. I love this series and personally don't care what people say. Actually, I'm like that with everything. I wear odd clothes and anime-styled things to school- if I cared about what people thought about me, I would be a very different person. :lol

Heh, oh wow! And I've always been told thread necromancy was a bad thing! Apparantly, it's not as bad as one would think. :DD

Well, to talk about the chapter, I knew the kids wouldn't be found so soon (but it's annoying me that I don't know where they are...), but it's almost hard to think about their parents leaving without them. There's good reasoning, of course, but it was definately a hard choice. ... Of course, if anyone can find their way back to their family, these kids can. Anxiously awaiting the next chapter! ^_^

1988 Theatrical Release / Dinosaur Families
« on: April 21, 2007, 05:06:12 PM »
Well, I don't know much about the family subject, but as for Dana and Dinah, I would assume Cera has an older sibling of some sort, and that's how those two exist. In fact, maybe the other Threehorn we see in the end of LBT 1 and in LBT 2 (speculation here) is her older sibling rather than her mother.

1988 Theatrical Release / Tell Your Story About LBT
« on: April 21, 2007, 04:57:26 PM »
How'd I get into it? ... Man, I don't even know...

Well, the movie came out before I was even born, so I know I didn't see it in theaters... I only have it as a recorded-tape instead of a bought one, and there's a show for toddlers on before it. My brother saw the original at a friend's house when he was maybe four or something (he was born the year LBT went into theaters), and then he recorded it or asked my parents to when it came on television. I don't remember much of seeing it the first time, except that I always laughed at Petrie, and I was sobbing when Littlefoot's mother died. I remember seeing it many more times with my brother, and apparantly I loved the series a lot, because we would always play pretend with an old "friend" of my brother's (AKA girl who would hang around with him and had a crush on him). I wanted to be Cera, but the other girl always claimed that role, so I was Ducky instead. My brother was Littlefoot and we'd always have adventures about being chased by sharpteeth and such. I would "talk" to Spike even though we had no one to play him, and I would sometimes make comments for Petrie.

I don't remember a specific time before getting LBT 2, but I remember after that my brother would sometimes be Chomper as well, most often in a scenerio where he was older and could talk (you have no idea how thrilled he was when we got LBT 5). LBT 3 came along and there was no big change. We got the Sing-A-Long Songs and I would watch it every day until I had memorized most of the songs on it.

When LBT 4 came around, I was estatic because the Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus type dinosaurs were my favorites, and I loved seeing a female one. When it came time to play pretend again, I wanted to be Ali, but my brother told me I couldn't because he was Littlefoot. I didn't understand him at the time, but after another viewing or so I did. :lol

We first watched LBT 5 at my grandmother's house, and I was singing the songs constantly (along with crying at "Always There"). We sang "Friends for Dinner" and "Big Water" in the car ride home (for two days) until my parents told us to be quiet. At this point, I was extremely obsessed. We got LBT 6 and my obsession intensified. At this point, I was expecting a new movie every year, and when 1999 rolled around and I got no LBT 7, I was disappointed.

Somewhere between 6 and 7, my brother stopped playing pretend. It was understandable, as he was eleven and had friends of his own, but I was a naive little girl and wasn't good at making friends. I wasn't atheletic, so I spent my time in my imagination, playing anything with the few kids I could and using the television to cultivate my creative side. Sadly, no one I played with knew of LBT.

When LBT 7 unexpectedly hit shelves, I went to get it, but a little half-heartedly. My obsession was waning, and when LBT 8 came out it took me at least a month to pick it up. I wasn't even keeping track of releases, and school work pulled me away from LBT 9, which I still have to see.

I saw LBT 10 at Blockbuster one day and wanted to rent it because of the word 'Longneck' in the title. I remembered Ali, my favorite character from when I was younger, and figured she'd be in it. I was very disappointed to learn she wasn't, but pleased to find Littlefoot's mother hadn't been forgotten.

I heard of LBT 11, but I was now in the dreaded Junior High School and therefore had no time to watch old children's cartoons, as I thought. By the time I could've watched it, my interest was gone, and the movies I owned, 1 through 8 and the first Sing-a-Long just sat discarded on my shelf like most of the other movies from my childhood.

Well, it was actually only a week ago when I can say I got back into LBT. I admit I'd heard of the series, and I'd wikipedia-ed LBT 12 when I was bored one day (a habit of mine ever since discovering the website), but I merely sighed because I figured the series was only being milked now and had lost all the messages of the old ones, and the characters of my childhood. I was looking through the Digital Cable Guide last week (another habit of mine), and decided to see what was on Cartoon Network while I was gone. I grinned upon seeing one of the movies would be on (LBT 5, I think), and then saw the series would be before it. I shrugged and looked at the summary to find myself squealing for joy like a little child. My old obsession with Ali had paid off, because the episode that would be coming on was the one she made her re-appearance in. I set a tape and decided to see if the series was worth my time. When I got home from school and watched it, I found myself slightly disappointed, but also wanting more. I took out my old tapes and began to view them, and set another tape for the next morning. It was only by chance that I happened upon this website while searching for a place to listen to "Always There", and here I am.

I'm hoping when I get enough money (ie during the summer), I can go and buy the rest of the movies and perhaps get DVDs of ones I already have. Needless to say, I'm quite obsessed with the films again, and Littlefoot's mother's death still makes me cry. :DD

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / Guest posts?
« on: April 21, 2007, 04:24:26 PM »
This would be a great idea! I've gone to websites that have done this before, and it's always fun to talk to someone involved in the creation of the show or game or movie or whatnot you like. If we could ever get someone to come here again (or, heck, if they came on their own accord), I'd definately enjoy it.

LBT Fanfiction / The Cold Time

Well, considering this is two years old I don't think you'll be getting around to finishing it, but I migt as well review... *thread necromancy*

The story is intriguing and, while many have probably thought of the basic idea before, I haven't seen it done before. Some of the phrasing is a little awkward, but considering English isn't your first language, this is pretty darn good. I would love to one day see the whole thing completed, but if this is all you have, that's fine. Great job, I say. ^_^

Well, hello, everyone! I'm a HUGE fan of The Land Before time, though I haven't seen LBT 9, 11, and 12. I'm probably not as old as a lot of you here, considering the original movie is three years older than I am, but I've been a devoted fan of the series since I first saw it.

The sequels I enjoyed the most are probably 4, 5, and 10 (that last one mostly for finding out some backstory for Littlefoot's mom). I adore Ali and was one of probably some of you who assumed she'd be in The Great Longneck Migration ("... Not even a cameo...?"). That's probably why I love LBT 4, and it's the reason I started watching (or trying to watch) the series (lackluster re-introduction, in my opinion, but meh).

My favorite voice actor for Littlefoot (besides the original - Gabriel Damon-, of course, because no one can recreate his "Mother, get up" line) has to be Thomas Dekker, especially more so now that I found out he plays a character on Heroes, and for Cera I'm torn between Anndi McAfee and Candace Huston, though McAfee's singing voice almost clinches it for me. No one can beat the original Ducky, Judith Barsi, (may she rest in peace), but Aria Curzon is my favorite after her.

Favorite songs? I've listened to "If We Hold On Together" for hours upon end, and the version sung by McAfee and Curzon just about kills me with tears, but I can't say it's my favorite. I love "Peaceful Valley" and "Big Water" in the form of up-beat songs, but "Friends for Dinner" is my all-time favorite. For mellow-er songs, "It Takes All Sorts" and "Always There" are tied (I still cry when Littlefoot's solo comes on in the latter). I enjoy most all of the songs in the series that I've heard, though.

 ... Wow, that's a long introduction post... Heh, I hope I'll have as much fun here as I do in other forums, and it's just great to find a place to talk about this wonderful series.
