You either just name one song that defines your personality, your life, etc. or give a few songs.

I'll start:

Angels-Within Temptation-This reflects how I have been betrayed by a few people or

Never Ending Story-Within Temptation-This reflects on my past spiritual views. They still coexcist in my mind today, just not as much.

Emo Kid-This song I do think of for humorous means :lol, especially that one line: "I'm dark, sensitive, with low self-esteem" xD Think of making fun of myself I guess. :p

Somewhere-I think of Christ, God, and something divine and spiritual when I listen to this.

Breaking the Habit by Linkin Park. I chose this song because it fits my personal conflicts with myself on how I act sometimes and don't know why.

Simple Plan - untitles: This one fits to me, because I often was lost in the world and no one helped me.

Simple Plan - welcome to my life: Describes most of my situations.

I really like this idea for a topic :p though to be honest, I rarely ever know the lyrics to the songs I'm listening to. Maybe I'll find one that I do know though.

For me my song would be:

Rise~ by Origa: While technically it may be in Japanese I've learned the English translation for the whole song, and I gotta say...this song best fits how I feel when I overcome a great depression or sadness in my life...like the loss of a pet.

You know, I've often thought of "Still" by Ben Folds to define me as a teacher because even though I'm supposed to appear to know a lot of things, the kids teach me a lot of things and they're familiar with many things I am not, so I have the change how I think sometimes so it makes some sense.

My personal life...um....I don't really know. :p

Here are some of mine:

"Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake defines my view on how I've had a revelation that my future is in my hands and that I need to live my life now instead of later.

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day defines the many disappointments I've come across in my life thus far.

"Crawling" by Linkin Park defines how my background has affected my ability to be a fully confident person.

"Jesus Loves Me" (recorded by Whitney Houston) defines my awareness that my Savior will never abandon me no matter what :).

"Saving Me" by Nickelback defines my relationship with my Savior.

"I'll Stand By You" by Carrie Underwood defines my feelings toward people who have been abused by other people.

You Know You're Right, by Nirvana, define my feelings of resentment

Should I Stay Or Should I Go, by The Clash, define my feelings of frustration

Comfortably Numb, by The Pink Floyd, define my feelings of surrealism

Houses Of The Holy, also by Led Zeppelin, define my feelings of happiness

Of course theres plenty more, but I'd never stop talking then

I kind of want to pick a song from every genre, and I think I'll do that one of these days, but for now I just stumbled across an old favorite of mine.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyYabCSxM28 That's Myself, by Michael Tolcher. The biggest battle in my life has been trying to overcome the fear of ridicule and rejection, and social interaction in general. I get closer every day, and this song is pretty simple, but it has always really resonated with me on the subject.

^ I'm the same way DarkWolf. I have struggled with social skills my whole life. And rejection of others is my greatest fear of all.

Addicted and Lithium are both songs that represent the struggle I have with my depression and how easy it is to get back into the pit and be addicted and actually feel good being depressed.

"Everything Changes" by Staind defines the last few years of my life: Loss of family members and pets, battling depression and anxiety problems, no longer being a child, reconnecting with old classmates on Facebook and being able to befriend and get along with the ones who had been mean to me in high school as well as those who were friends of mine then, discovering the GOF...many changes have happened with me.

"Emotionless" by Good Charlotte reflects the very strained relationship I have with my father (the stories are very similar).

The following song totally defines how I got so caught up in trying to fit in with my peers while growing up that I forgot what I embrace today: Being yourself.

"Let Me Be Myself" by Three Doors Down

I guess I just got lost being someone else.
I tried to kill the pain,
but nothing ever helped.
I left myself behind,
somewhere along the way.
Hoping to come back around
and find myself some day.

Lately I'm so tired of waiting for you
to say that it's OK.

Tell me please.
Would you, one time,
let me be myself
so I can shine
with my own light?
Let me be myself.

Would you let me be myself?
I'll never find my heart
behind someone else.
I'll never see the light of day
living in this cell.
It's time to make my way
into the world I knew,
and take back all of these times
that I gave in to you.

Lately I'm so tired of waiting for you
To say that it's OK.

Tell me please.
Would you one time,
let me be myself
so I can shine
with my own light?
Let me be myself.

For a while,
if you don't mind,
let me be myself
so I can shine
with my own light?
Let me be myself.

That's all I ever wanted from this world,
was to let me be me..

Please, would you one time,
Let me be myself
so I can shine
with my own light?
Let me be myself.

Please, would you one time,
Let me be myself
so I can shine
with my own light?
Let me be myself.

For a while,
if you don't mind,
let me be myself
so I can shine,
with my own light?
Let me be myself.

many songs define me:

Stand On Your Own(No Retreat No Surrendur soundtrack)- this song captures the whole shall never surrendur that I seem to have.

Streets Of Siam(Kickboxer soundtrack)- A few lyrics from the song: "Everybody loves a winner, everyone can see that I am, everybody follows the leader, baby, crusing down the streets of Siam" this song captures the desire to win.

Never Surrendur(Kickboxer Soundtrack) - another song that captures the "shall never surrender" feel.

Fight To Survive(Paul Hertzog)- A song that talk about someone training to live their dream, that the final battle is already won and that they fight to survive this song can be found in the Jean Claude Van Damme film "Bloodsport" and on its soundtrack.

and last but not least

Blow Me Away(breaking benjimen)- its good I like the line "loaded,I will walk alone".

Here's another one: Weight of the World-Evanescence

I didn't really listen to it deeply and clearly until today, I remember feeling this way, feeling like I have to be responsible for everything that was going on and that there was just no slack for me whatsoever. :p <_<

The following song makes me think of how I tend to have difficulty letting go...be it someone or something very meaningful to me.  Even though I can acknowledge a relationship was not meant to last or loved ones will die eventually or something I have a huge interest in (like the LBT series) was not meant to go on and on forever, I find it very difficult to accept the end of someone or something.  That said, here's a song that describes me during these times (this song also makes me cry sometimes):

"Waiting For The End" by Linkin Park

This is not the end, this is not the beginning.
Just a voice like a riot rocking every revision.
But you listen to the tone and the violent rhythm,
though the words sound steady something empties within them.
We say yeah with fists flying up in the air,
like we're holding onto something that's invisible there.
Cause we're living at the mercy of the pain and the fear
until we dead it, forget it, let it all disappear.

Waiting for the end to come.
Wishing I had strength to stand.
This is not what I had planned.
It's out of my control.
Flying at the speed of light.
Thoughts were spinning in my head.
So many things were left unsaid.
It's hard to let you go.

I know what it takes to move on,
I know how it feels to lie.
All I want to do is trade this life for something new.
Holding on to what I haven't got.

Sitting in an empty room,
trying to forget the past.
This was never meant to last.
I wish it wasn't so.

I know what it takes to move on,
I know how it feels to lie.
All I want to do is trade this life for something new.
Holding on to what I haven't got.

What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong.
All caught up in the eye of the storm,
and trying to figure out what it's like moving on.
And I don't even know what kind of things I said.
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead.
So I'm picking up the pieces, now where to begin?
The hardest part of ending is starting again.

('Til the end):
All I want to do is trade this life for something new.
Holding on to what I haven't got.
I'm holding on to what I haven't got.
I'm holding on to what I haven't got.

This is not the end, this is not the beginning.
Just a voice like a riot rocking every revision.
But you listen to the tone and the violent rhythm,
though the words sound steady something empties within them.
We say yeah with fists flying up in the air,
like we're holding onto something that's invisible there.
Cause we're living at the mercy of the pain and the fear.
Until we dead it, forget it, let it all disappear.

Why not give this a try? -_-

This list is mostly made up of sad songs because my life has been one hack of a downer, I've been used, lied to, betrayed, and just stabbed in the back, the nerve of some people, eh?

Raise your glass - P!nk. I'm more of an underdog than anything, usually people count me out and don't pay any real attention to me.

Forever & Always - Taylor Swift. This basically describes my relationships with people, it turns out nice, but gradually, I become unimportant to them.

Mean - Taylor Swift. This song reminds me of a person a met a few years back. I hate her now, she's just so mean. She knocked me down over and over again, and I hated it. But now she's outta my life and I don't have to deal with her anymore.

Misery Business - Paramore. One of my biggest fears is being rejected and hated and humiliated, and people just never change when they start something, and I really hate that about some people.

Robot - Miley Cyrus. I used to be so vulnerable and so dependent on people to make my decision's for me, but I'm not like that anymore. I broke free of that years ago.

How to Save a Life - The Fray. I'm polite but there's a different side of me people never see, a hesitant very vulnerable, cry-her-eyes-out-everyday side.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day. People really don't understand me, and I wish they would, I wish people would put pthers first other than themselves.

You're Not Sorry - Taylor Swift. I know people aren't sorry when they've done something wrong, and even when I've given out so many chances, they ignore them.

Because of You - Kelley Clarkson. This song just describes me perfectly, I've been used, beaten, abused, basically got stabbed in the back numerous times over, leaving me sobbing my eyes out and being depressed everyday, leaving me vulnaerable and open to everyday harrassment and I have to pretend I'm happy even though I'm just sad I want to break down.

And that's it. Yeah, I'm a sad person. :p

The following song is fitting, because it reflects my free spirit and how I've always followed the beat to my own drum and not what others have wanted me to do.  By the way, the Sick Puppies are an awesome group.  Did I mention the guitarist is female :)?

"Riptide" by the Sick Puppies

You all hate your children, they're too fat to feed.
You're on medication, taking pills to sleep.
I think I'm doing just fine, compared to what you've been doing.
I won't get vaccinated.
Insurance costs too much.
You think you're so persuasive, but I'm not giving up.
Saving my life.
It's not what you're doing.

I, I won't justify the way I live my life,
'cause I'm the one livin' it, feelin' it, tastin' it.
And you're just wasting your time, trying to throw me a line,
when you're the one drowning.
I like where I'm at on my back, floating down in my own riptide.
The water is fine.

I like to step on cracks, I go against the odds.
You think my world is flat.
Do I turn you on?
Maybe, yeah I'm wrong, but I like where I'm going.
I leave when others stay, I never re-decide.
I don't mind if you wait, but I don't waste my time.
Crazy is just fine, 'cause I like where I'm going.

I, I won't justify the way I live my life,
'cause I'm the one livin' it, feelin' it, tastin' it.
And you're just wasting your time, trying to throw me a line,
when you're the one drowning.
I like where I'm at on my back, floating down in my own riptide.
The water is fine.

I remember when it used to be easy,
I remember when it wasn't so hard.
I remember when it used to be easy,
I remember when, I remember when.

I, I didn't have to justify the way I live my life,
'cause I'm the one livin' it, feelin' it, tastin' it.

This song always cuts pretty deep for me. I went through some tough stuff a few years ago, and when this song came out later that year, it was a dead ringer for the stuff I went through. As a result I'm pretty attached to it. Even though I can still feel the damage from those times... :rhett_sad

Lose You To Love Me - Selena Gomez

You promised the world and I fell for it
I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off-key in my chorus
'Cause it wasn't yours
I saw the signs and I ignored it
Rose-colored glasses all distorted
Set fire to my purpose
And I let it burn
You got off on the hurtin'
When it wasn't yours, yeah

We'd always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me

I gave my all and they all know it
You turned me down and now it's showing
In two months, you replaced us
Like it was easy
Made me think I deserved it
In the thick of healing, yeah

We'd always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me

You promised the world and I fell for it
I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off-key in my chorus

To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
And now the chapter is closed and done
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
And now it's goodbye, it's goodbye for us
