Firstly; hope this is in the right sub-section.

Right well, behind this is that my sister and I were watching a game show that is shown in England.  One of the questions was what is a baby Eel is called. It amazed me that the person didn't know...

So here is the question.

What is a baby Eel called?

A leptocephalus?

My middle school science teacher would always say that his hard questions would separate the men from the boys, the women from the girls, the flies from the maggots, and the eels from the leptocephalites.

Well, let’s see.  The Tautog can be found in saltwater around Nova Scotia and Georgia, which covers the Atlantic Ocean. The Sheepshead ranges from the mid-Atlantic to Texas. Bluefish can be found in all climates. Hardhead Catfish are found along the western Atlantic Ocean. Halibut can be found in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks can be found in the Atlantic Ocean as well. I am horrible with geography and logic, so I may be making a fool of myself here, but I would say that because five of those are mostly found in the Atlantic area, and Bluefish can thrive in any climate, far from where those others can live, my answer is the Bluefish. Though I probably misread something incredibly obvious so my response is foolish. I just have this nagging feeling I missed something here.

Nope. The key is habitat depth.

Ichthyology isn't my area of expertise, but I will give it a shot.

Might the answer be the Bluefish?  It is a marine pelagic fish, whereas many of the others are either demersal fish (Halibut) or feed upon bottom-dwelling species (Hardhead catfish, sheepshead, Tautog, and the Atlantic sharpnose shark.)

You are correct.

All fish except the Halibut can be caught in coastal waters. Halibut have only been caught in water exceeding 100 feet.

Hmm, I'd like to give this a go. Is the key a member of the sheep or cattle family? Because I believe the ibex is a member of the sheep family and not the antelope/cattle family. I may in fact be totally wrong in which case I'll have to dust off the ol' encyclopedia and beat my forehead against the binding XDD
