Title: Picture host pages?
Post by: Malte279 on November 18, 2009, 04:12:25 PM
Hi!
I wonder if anyone here knows a free picture host comparable to photobucket?
In his praiseworthy and untiring efforts to provide really helpful pictures of Great Valley landmarks for the mapmaking in the computer game project Kor has used up the complete space photobucket will provide for a single user. Not daunted by all that he has done already he now asked me if I knew another free picture host to which he could upload screenshots from the TV series.
Seriously Kor, you are awesome when it comes to helpfulness in providing pictures :yes
I don't know another pictures host myself that I could recommend, but I wonder if anyone else does?

http://www.abload.de (http://www.abload.de) -> Very fast and easy to upload, you can choose more than one picture just with one click!

Other picture hosters:
http://www.upislam.com (http://www.upislam.com)
http://imageshack.us/ (http://imageshack.us/)

That's all, I guess! :D

Just make a second Photobucket account.  There's nothing quite as good as Photobucket out there.  I personally have 9 accounts.

I use imageshack. You don't have to register an account, but if the pics are too large they'll only give you a URL to "save space" or something like that.

ImageShack REALLY sucks.  Their little preview pics are just useless and the pictures load so SLOOOOOOW.  I'd rather host images on a Freewebs account and link to 'em. It really pisses me off every time I want to view an image hosted on ImageShack.  Just useless.  There's nothing like Photobucket.  Just make another account.  Just make sure you register with a different email address and choose a different name, birthdate, etc.

I think I did have an ImageShack account once but I never used it again. So far, I only use Photobucket. I actually have 3 accounts. There's a much older one that has nothing but Wild Thornberry Movie screenshots. There's another one I made to experiment with something. And my main one which I use to upload pictures, such as my LBT fanart.

Thanks.  I looked at photobucket terms of service and multiple accounts are not allowed there, so I didn't want to get into any trouble there.  I'll have to give the others a more through look, though I don't understand German so maybe can't use the German one.

If you want you can have a public account on the LBT Server Kor.  All I ask is that you don't embed them into GOF directly.  Links are fine, but embedding the photos is a HUGE drain on bandwidth.  But filesize and image dimension limits don't exist, which is ideal if you're trying to get good quality images.

Of course I'd recommend signing up for multiple accounts with Photobucket anyway.  If you're afraid of being banned, just sign up at the library or through a public WIFI network.  But you won't get banned.  I create new photobucket accounts all the time.

Imbed them as do a thumbnail image? I've no idea how to do that.

No way to do the options to get more photobucket accounts with using other isp.

Sounds like I may try that imageshack thing, it seems my only option.

The quality of the images will be maybe at most ok, except for The Big Longneck Test which is poor quality since I only have youtube videos of that episode since it's not on dvd.

I've already taken screenshots of Hidden Canyon, and The Big Longneck Test, as awful as the youtube video quality is of that episode.  I'll do the other episodes then look over my options.  May have to go with Imageshack, it seems my only option, since I don't understand German nor Arabic.

Try imagehost.org. You can upload a file straight from your computer without registering, and immediately hotlink the image to a forum by copying and pasting the Forum Hotlink code. I use it all the time. :yes
