Definitely a bat. They're adorable, they can fly, they can swim, and they can echolocate. Bats are just the best

I'm neither. My mates think I'm nuts for trying to survive college without drinking coffee.

Still neither! Seven years out of college, and I only drink water and milk :D

Examine the flashlight. If it comes with a removable bulb we might still be in business

It's a bad movie but it succeeds in being an entertaining ride, which is more than can be said for most bad movies. Like, you're certainly entertained while all the nonsensical plot decisions happen on screen, and it's only on subsequent viewings that all the threads unravel and you notice the weird decisions or abandoned plot points that don't go anywhere.

I may be a bit biased since Kylo/Rey is the only thing I liked from the entire trilogy, and they also happen to be the only plot concept that survives the whole trilogy without getting abandoned or forgotten somewhere down the line. IMO the only truly unforgiveable choice the trilogy makes is blowing up the entire New Republic offscreen and reverting things back to a "rebels vs empire" status quo. Unbelievably lazy choice that basically guarenteed the storyline would underwhelm.

Step 1. Using the metal box as a bludgeon, shatter one of the two lamps on the bottom floor and remove the lightbulb. Shatter the bulb if it isn’t broken already
Step2. Remove the batteries from the flashlight
Step3. Commit the non-blank paper to memory and crumple it up. Shred the cardboard box into a pile with the paper ball in the center.
Step 4. Press a positive and negative end of each battery against the base of the lightbulb. This will ignite the filament.
Step 5. Press the filament against the paper ball to start a campfire. Use the fire to see if the blank paper has a message written in invisible ink/lemon juice. Toss it on the fire for fuel after committing any message to memory.
Step 6. Once the campfire is going, leave the metal box in the fire and stay in the top floor with the trapdoor shut, to prevent smoke from filling both rooms.
Step7. The campfire will superheat the metal, hopefully making it more malleable and damageable via either percussive force or stabbing its weak spot with the metal rod.

Yeah, I want to know what online horse game they were talking about. Mostly because I used to write for a pretty high-profile one and wouldn't that be a hell of a coincidence.

Ooooh nice! Coupled with the TV series being free-to-watch on the official YouTube channel, that's almost everything LBT freely available online.

(side note, hooray for 7777 posts!)

Stand on the top floor and huck the box down the hole to the bottom floor. Depending on how sturdy the metal is, the percussive force might be enough to at least warp the metal and puncture a hole to pry it open with the rod.

Attic Treasures / Re: Dinotopia, anyone?

Fun story about Dinotopia: My family rented the Dinotopia movie from Blockbuster back in the 90s, and settled down to watch it. The plot/acting/everything was great, but it kept going and going and going...at some point, it was almost midnight and we paused to see how much is left. We discover that it wasn't a movie, it was a mini-series and it had been edited together into one long unbroken episode that was over four hours! We never actually watched the end because we were all too fatigued from our first night of it, haha

Random Role Play / Re: Ask the Characters

Sharal'tar: Phenomenally well. Remember, most of us have spent years training to improve our psionic abilities, while comfortably within the confines of a luxury research facility. Marie, in contrast, has had about a week of nearly getting killed in various death-defying ordeals, and hasn't recieved help or actual training from anyone. It's a testament to her willpower she hasn't cracked under the pressure of figuring out her new powers and surviving at the same time. I wish I had more of a personality for mentorship, but all I can say is I'm here and ready to help her anyway I can.

Marita, Rose, and Marie: It's been a long time since you lived in Lanthae and Corona, and a lot of people have disappeared from your lives. Are there any particular teammates from your old adventures who you miss and wish you could see again?

The RP section used to be a lot more lively, but people moved on and now there are only like four people who post in it, and none of them have time for more than like a post a month. It's nobody's fault, just a thing that happens, and I'm just glad I got to experience it back while the RP section was still a real thing

Ask Me / Re: Ask Me

Whoa, I’d completely forgotten about this old thread. And most of these answers, haha!

I’m positive it’s mostly nostalgia talking, but I’ve always loved the Original Series most of all. It was my first, and it opened my eyes to the possibility that sci-fi could be philosophical, non-war-focused, and optimistic. Everything I’d seen before was either combat-focused (like Star Wars) or kiddy (like Lost in Space), and the original Star Trek was a landmark moment in my personal development. I’ll throw the Animated Series into this slot too, it’s a great series and I highly recommend it to anyone into Star Trek. The writers made great use of the animated medium to create more fantastical aliens and tell stories that would have too expensive in live-action, like underwater exploration and massive pre-Colombian city-planets.

TNG is my next favorite, and it’s probably a better overall show than TOS. The characters are more three-dimensional, the writing was more cerebral, and it had enough seasons to really come into its own. I’ve only seen a bit of Voyager, DS9, and Enterprise, so I probably haven’t given them a fair enough shake, but Voyager was my favorite of the three.

Lastly, I’ve been watching Lower Decks with my free month of CBS All-Access, and I’m pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it is to watch. The writing is good, the jokes land, and the creators are clearly massive trekkies because they pepper a ton of subtle references into every episode. The characters are all likeable and the plots work both comedically and within the confines of the Trek universe. I didn't go in expeccting much, but now I can't wait for the second season.

Found footage of the typing game I was describing. Just also imagine that every time you typo a crack appears in your windshield and eventually it shatters if you develop too many

I saw JP4, never bothered to watch JP5, but Imma see this just for Dr. Grant and Sattler. They were my favorite characters in the first film and I'm not gonna miss seeing them on screen again.

I wish they'd bring Lex and Tim back, imagine seeing them as adults!

There was a typing game we had to play in school. You're in a first-person view of a submarine cockpit, and you've got to type to make your sub travel through the water. Things go swimmingly enough while you're spelling words right; but every few typos or so, a loud crack appears in your windshield and your sub slows down. If you get too many typos, your windshield fully shatters and it fades to black.

As if that's not bad enough, as time goes by, a dark patch appears in front of you, and it gets bigger and bigger and closer until you realize it's a massive shark/whale/thing coming slowly towards you. If you don't complete all the words before time runs out, the beast covers the screen and massive teeth envelop the windshield.

I'm not sure why the developers thought learning to type needed to be more traumatic than it already was.
