Yeah, crappy. 8D I tend to rush when it comes to art, and I haven't really attempted this style much. It's difficult to get down right, and the pictures I'm posting are my first attempts in the universal style.
Please don't be /too/ harsh. x3 I know they're bad, but hey, first attempt..
This is Ruby. I drew her on printer paper, and what had been on the picture was the wallpaper with the exact pose and everything I was attempting here. Yeah, can't really do poses on mah own without having something to look at.

Thud, the green raptor. For this I was watching an episode and kept pausing it to draw him.

LULZ EPIC FAILURE CHOMPER

xD I know the eye is WAYYYY too far on that one. I can see the flaws in all of them.
-
I wouldn't call this artwork crappy. I like it. ^^ My fav one is the pic of Thud.
-
Hello:
Do you think that's crappy? then you should see my own pics :lol , you sure draw very good pics Shauni, Chomper and Thud look great
-
Aw, thanks. x3
Heh, I have a long way to go, I know, but they're alright for first attempts I guess.
ohmygawsh, I love thud. 8D Raptors rock.
And thanks, chiletrek, heh, I seriously doubt your pics are bad.
-
Wow, you draw very nice pics. I like them all. You are doing a great job :yes
-
I took the liberty to cut the word "crappy" from the title of this thread. Your drawings are very well done and I daresay you are aware of it. No false modesty ;)
The range of facial expressions in your drawings is exceptional. There are many and different emotions in the faces of Chomper and that raptor. Giving the right expression and / or posture to characters in a drawing or a picture can result in a piece of work that can tell a whole story. I hope to see more of your art :yes
-
You draw very well. Hope you keep the drawing up. If you need things to look at maybe some various dino poseable figures may help.
-
This art is superb for a first attmept...I wanna see more alot more! And I happen to like the Chomper pics the most! Keep up the good work!
-
Heh, aw, but I liked the crappy. =P
Honestly, I didn't think it was so good. I'm just a little too critical, I guess. But I am happy with these, just the same. Glad you guys approve. ^^
Y'know, that's a good idea about the figure thing. I think I'll try that. Just gotta dig up the ancient toys. xD
Bleh, I found another sketch I did around the same time. This one was for a friend, her fan-character A'isha. I wanted to make it look like Chomper, that was intentional since some of the same-species characters look pretty much the same in the series. But, I also tried to make it seem like a different character as well. Whether I accomplished that is up to you folks.

Hello:
She looks similar but different, which is very good because it adds uniqueness to the new character :yes .
-
Shauni, that a very nice pictures. You sure have a lot of experience in drawing pics with a pencil. :yes
-
Thanks, I liked the picture in the link also. Maybe you are a bit to self critical, some people are.
-
I don't think they're crappy (Hm..funny word xD).
They are really great. The Thud one looks awesome.
And I saw the A'isha pic in Tropicalia's forum. Nice job. :D
-
I personally like the Ruby one the best. But they're all good.
-
It seems like most here agree on how good your drawings were. I guess you have no choice but to add yourself to the list of artists here. :yes
-
There are very nice drawings! They're very well made!
-
Like I said at the other forum.. they are amazing x3 I never saw the ruby one before and she came out really well! ^^
-
if you think these are crappy then you might want to know mine are like those of 3year-olds might look like... No i think they even make better drawings than i do lol  But you are really great at this stuff! keep the good work up !! :)
-
Hmm, if this is crappy, then I would really like to see your "good" work. =3
-
Do you have any intention on coloring these? I've a feeling they can look quite good with color. :)
-
Hello:
Mmmm I agree, Sauni, maybe with some good colouring you'll really see they are not crappy ;)
-
That sounds like a good idea to me.
-
If you are serious about calling your own work crappy Shauni, can you be a little more specific on what part of your work you are not satisfied with?
-
Aw, thanks everyone. I really appreciate it. :D
As for coloring, nyer... I'm gonna admit I'm not the best coloring person there is. If I colored the sketches in, wouldn't turn out so well. I've got no sense of shading or lineart style. I've ruined many awesome-looking sketches simply by coloring...And with lack of anything but a crappy trial-over program where I have to screenshot everything I color, and since I only have a mouse to work with, it usually just involves a crappy airbrushing. xD
..Which is quite evident on my Deviantart selections that I've actually taken time to color in. =P
Why don't I like 'em?
Hrm, dunno.... =x I suppose it's because I couldn't draw them on my own, really. I'm just still a little disappointed in myself that I have to be staring at reference in order to draw anything correctly, meaning I have to print out pictures of the poses I want too sometimes with other art. :lol
-
Maybe you could ask someone to color them for you?
And I use references sometimes when drawing myself. I don't see a problem with it, personally.
-
You can ask someone else if they'd color your pictures if you'd like.
Also as for needing to use models, many famous artists have had to use models. One modern one, though likely most here never heard of him since most do not read comics, is Alex Ross, who does photo realistic pictures where his artwork looks like it's a photograph. He uses models. I think the guy who does the Dinotopia books uses models also, though I'm not sure.
-
Hello:
There is nothing wrong to use models, in fact you may use models for your drawings but with no doubts your own drawing will serve as models for other artists too ;) .
