Although I and my dad can use the internet just fine, Clint recently got an adapter that, whenever he uses it, causes the connection to drop on my computer (which has a built-in wireless thing). Anyway he has tried to install the Netgear router on this computer and it said it wasn't compatible with it. I found this to be strange because the official Microsoft site says that the latest firmware should be compatible with Windows 7 and when I logged onto the router before, it indicated that I did have the latest firmware.

Does anyone know how I can get the router to install on Windows 7? The router I am using is WNDR3300 and it's a Netgear brand.

Easy.  You don't.  Routers don't need installation at all.  Just plug 'em into the modem.  If you need to access any preferences for the router, simply type the following into your browser:

http://192.168.1.1

I think this differs depending on your location or type of router, but I've owned many different brands of routers and this has always been the address I've used to get into the router's control panel.  From the control panel you can add WEP encryption, open and close ports, and some even have the ability to change your MAC address (this is VERY useful for hacking).  I've never installed a router in my life because it's not needed.  If you can't connect at all, try unplugging the modem and router and plugging them back in about a minute later (modem first).  Or you can try resetting the modem itself by using a paper clip on the back.

I've never heard of a wireless connection dropping because there was another wireless connection to the router.  Could be a setting though.  Go to your routers control panel (type in 192.168.1.1 or whatever number it says in your router manufacturers manual) and reset everything to default.  If that doesn't work, I'd exchange the router.

Clint seemed to fix the problem for now. However, the problem earlier is that he was using a wireless adapter to pick up the connection from the router and it caused interference and caused internet to drop for everyone. This happened before with Kylie's laptop. For a time, when she would try to connect to the internet on her laptop, the connection would just drop. Same thing with Clint for the past couple days. Clint thought that attempting to install the router into my computer would solve the issue.
