Title: Cera's Supporter
Post by: landbeforetimelover on June 11, 2007, 01:55:21 AM
I hope this hasn't been mentioned before.  I couldn't find it anywhere so I don' t think it has.

Everyone supports Cera's ideas at one point or another in the sequals.  Even littlefoot supported her in LBT 5.  I think that Cera's main supporter would have to be Petrie.  I know this is in the sequals section so I won't mention how he supports her in the tv series, but he does quite frequently.  Like in LBT 5 he agreed with Cera that Chomper might grow up to decide to eat them.  I don't remember the lines before or after his but he said:  "Cera right.  He cute now but someday...".

He supports her on many occations throughout the movies.  I bet I could find an example in every sequal if I had the time or desire.  Has anyone else noticed this?

well I can't really think of something off the top of my head but when they when littlefoot was proposing that the should help Mo get home after the earthshake, everyone said yes and Cera was last.  Petrie asked "What you say Cera"? This shows that he cared about her opinion.  The others showed little interest.

That's all I can think of right now but I'm sure that we should be able to find more in LBT 9.  Any other examples?

I guess it is not so much Petrie's valuing Cera's opinon above other opinions, but rather that he tends to take the path of least resistance. Unless there is something of really crucial importance for him (e.g. LBT 7) Petrie will rarely take a personal stand on anything without being sure of support from the others. Sometimes I guess he would like to be more self confident in his actions but doesn't muster the energy to show it to anyone but himself (LBT 9: "They can't make me! Me think for myself!" "Petrie?" "Coming!").
In a way Petrie might be called (this is not meant to sound as harsh as it probably does) a "turncoat", always fluttering in the direction where the wind blows him. And if it comes to making points allowing for no opposing voices Cera is certainly the main producer of winds for the "turncoat" to flutter with. Ironically the image can be found in the movies too. At two times (I think there may be more cases) Cera is blowing Petrie away when he is opposing or bothering her.
