Title: Awesome anti-spyware program
Post by: Nimrod on November 14, 2008, 08:28:52 AM
I just got two new trojans on my pc, I don¥t know why this always happens to me :p I tried everything but nothing worked. I got a hint from a friend and he named a program called Spybot - Search and destroy. And see there it solved all of my problems. It found the trojans and after I said delete, they were deleted and never popped up again :-) So, just for these one who have problems with viruses or anything, here you can download and try it ;-)

EDIT: fixed topic title so it wasn't misleading

Spybot isn't an antivirus program. It's an antispyware program, I believe. But yeah, I know of it. I used to use it before, although I don't anymore because I can't get it to work anymore for some reason. It is pretty good, yeah.

Spybot is ok as an anti-spyware removal tool.  It will not catch nor protect against viruses.

As a matter of fact, I have little trojan living its own life somewhere on my PC. It doesn't do anything that bothers me, but... it's a Trojan... Humans kill Trojans! :wow
So I'm testing your program Pat, and see if it will work out.

Hope it works out for you.  It sounds like a useful program.  On windows I use to use the free version of adaware, whatever the current version is called, to scan for spyware.

Holy crap! I download it, read the instructions, and it tells me that the red entriea are real threats, while the greens are something else I should read into further.

So I try the SpyBot out, and it finds 60 red entries and not a single green one! Where'd they all come from? I've only been active on the Internet since January!

Same here, I got about 15 red treats.
But the Trojan's still there.

Spybot won't catch/remove everything.

I've heard it's best, if you want to catch as nearly everything as possible, to use more then 1 program.  Use several since I"ve heard each will have some stuff it can't catch.

I've got Norton Anti-Virus as well. I'm actually a little miffed that Norton missed as much as it did.

At least you are catching most of them I'd guess.

I just checked my pc for viruses today. Spybot found around 10. I deleted a few, but I couldn¥t delete the others. The program told me to restart. I did so and the viruses were deleted.

I've used several programs over the day and scanned my whole PC.
I do not like what I see.
I really hope I'll find a way to get rid of the crap, otherwise I will have to consider a full system reset. :slap

Norton has gone downhill in recent years so I'm not surprised its missing things.
