Gamers Zone / Sega's Return?
« on: October 01, 2011, 11:23:02 AM »
I don't think this is a good idea. This would probably end up in a console war and it contributes to that "Nintendo VS Sony VS Microsoft (VS Sega)" debate and flame wars.

Gamers Zone / Mario Tennis 3DS
« on: September 27, 2011, 11:40:05 AM »
I'm glad that Nintendo doesn't give up this series and I'm glad that this game is developed by Camelot. They're really good at making sport games (for example, Mario Sports Mix sucked, and it was developed by Square while the Mario Golf & Tennis series got high ratings).

But why no RPG mode? I very liked the GameBoy Advance titles of the series even though the main characters were not Nintendo characters. It is just amazing that you are able to level up your player (however, I would agree to you all that Mario characters are better main characters than these Camelot characters, but I find it very good that they at least integrated a great Single Player Mode). It is also great that you can transfer your players and golf clubs from Mario Golf: Advance Tour to Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. I don't see why Camelot removed that feature on Mario Power Tennis for GBA & GC.

Anyway, I'm really happy about a new tennis game. I hope this won't be just a remake of Mario Power Tennis because it just looks like a remake.
I'm still waiting for a Mario Golf for 3DS and a Mario Golf & Tennis game for the Wii U to come!!

Gamers Zone / Mario Kart 7
« on: September 23, 2011, 06:54:12 PM »
I don't get why Nintendo named the game "Mario Kart 7" when there are 9 Mario Kart games. Nintendo totally forgot about "Mario Kart Arcade GP 1 & 2". I also don't know why Nintendo put a number into the title since the other Mario Karts don't have a number. It makes only sense if Nintendo continues putting numbers into their game titles, like "Mario Kart 8" for Wii U or "Mario Part 9".

Yeah I also like this track very much! I hope Nintendo puts in more tracks from Mario Kart 64.

but I found Double Dash to be the best in the franchise, even better than 64
I partly agree to this. Mario Kart Double Dash has a better mix of items (no item chaos like the blue wings or the cloud as in Mario Kart Wii) and even better graphics (Nintendo had to use low-polygon graphics for MK: Wii because otherwise there would be lags due to the higher amount of kart drivers), better characters (not useless clone-characters like Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Dry Bower) and better tracks, but I think Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: Super Circuit are even better because they have the best tracks in my opinion.

I pretty liked what I heard about Mario Kart 7 so far, but Nintendo puts in again useless characters like "Metal Mario" (WTF?!). What about Monty Mole, Wiggler, Petey Piranha, Koopa Paratroopa, The Koopalings, Koopa Kid etc. etc. etc.?? There are TONS of characters which are more suitable than such clone characters like Metal Mario. Even if Nintendo ran out of characters for their games, they could easily create new ones (enemies, for example) or revive old ones (like Foreman Spike, the forgotten Mario Character). Nintendo should stop just using the same character models for different characters. Where's the creativity?

"The Legend Of The Titanic"
The most hated movie on the GOF. Yeah, I just watched it! I've watched this movie with my friends when I was younger and everyone liked it.
I admit it: This movie does have many flaws. But there are also positive things: I like the animation very much even though the producers made use of computer animations (which are unnecessary in my opinion, but they are somehow well-made) and the soundtrack is great! The German voice actors are very good (and they're also well-known), but the lip syncing is absolutely terrible (some characters speak for almost a minute without moving their lips, I don't know if it's just the German version or if the lip syncing is terrible in general).

When I watched this movie as a kid, I already knew about the true story of the Titanic, so I knew that it is untrue that everyone survived and so on. I recommend to watch this movie only if you know the true story behind the Titanic, otherwise the kids could believe the story of the Titanic portrayed in this film. I don't find this (overly) happy end too bad since it's a kids movie. But I don't get how the mouse who connected the wires survived. I really don't get it, this is a BIG plot hole.

I don't get into details when it comes to the story, for me it is absolutely unbelievable, but it is a kids movie, so I accept it. I know there are many people who absolutely hate this movie, but all they are referring to is the stupid story and they forget about the good animation and the good soundtrack and the good atmosphere which comes from this movie. Also I liked the main character, he is someone you can identify with.

When I was a kid, I was very impressed by this movie. Now I'm a bit disappointed due to the story, but I got my childhood memories back!
I would give it a 6 out of 10.

By the way: The picture quality was very good. The movie looked good even on a full HD television.

I like the movie "The Legend of the Titanic". Everyone on the GOF hates this movie - except me (and my friends. I watched this movie with my friends when I was younger, and they also liked that movie, so I don't see why this movie is so hated. Of course it is not the true story of the Titanic and it is quite unrealistic, but it is not supposed to be the true story of the Titanic.).
Heck, I even drew fan comics of this movie when I was young. I would really like to watch the German version of this movie again.
However, I've never seen the sequel to this movie (maybe because that movie was never released in Germany).

"The Human Centipede". Even though there isn't that much gore in the movie, it is quite shocking (however, I've seen movies worse than that). The doctor acts very well so far!

I am watching the English version because this movie isn't released in Germany. I'm sure I'll also watch the sequel.

Gamers Zone / Wii games?

You have a Blockbuster account? Make sure you talk to the epic BLACKbustercritic. He works (or worked) at a Blockbuster store and produced the awesome "Guidelines to being a customer" and "Sonic Brainfart" series. :D

Topic:

I recommend...

Captain Rainbow (unfortunately only released in Japan)
Kirby Epic Yarn (it is not nearly as easy as everyone says)
Epic Mickey (good game, but terrible camera)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (you HAVE to play this if you have a Wii)

Well... all the other games in my collection are Mario games (besides "Mario & Sonic", which is not produced by Nintendo, but by Sega).

Upcoming game titles you should get when they are released are "Mario & Sonic 2012", "Mario Party 9", "Fortune Street" and "Epic Mickey 2" (which will most probably also released on PS3 and XBox360).

The Room

This movie is not nearly as bad as I thought. Sure it has many flaws like bad actors (but some are good), unnecessary sex scenes and bad audio editing (you can clearly hear which sentences are real and which are just dubbed), but I kinda liked the movie.
Lisa is my most hated character of all time. Such a cheating b****.

I enjoyed this game for the GameBoy Advance:

The Land Before Time - GBA (also known as "The Land Before Time Collection")

It's a nice side scrolling game with outstanding music, many levels and good graphics.
More information here

There was another game for the GBA with the name "Land Before Time: Into the Mysterious Beyond", but I disliked it because of the bad game control.

still 170 is kinda high I will wait until they go way down.

I'll also wait. I've discussed this also with my forum members, and I'm sure Nintendo got serious problems if they have to drop the price that much. However, 250 was way too expensive.

1988 Theatrical Release / Uncut version

Well, I watched Super RTL in my childhood, and I'm sure I watched the 2002 and 2004 airings with my friends, but I can't remember any of the lost scenes, if there were lost scenes. :(

The movie was aired at the "Cartoon Special" on Friday evening. Super RTL used to have a "Cartoon Special" or even a "Cartoon Night" every Friday. Ah, the good old days...

This may be true, but compared with the cheap brands in the supermarket, "Emmi" is still expensive. There are 230ml bottles for only Ä0,69.

I've never seen Green Mountain Coffee in supermarkets and I can't find this on German online stores. :(

However, I LOVE iced coffee and I've been drinking iced coffee since 2006/2007. My favorite iced coffee drink was the "Muellermilch Coffee Amaretto" but it seems that the company stopped producing "Muellermilch Coffee", maybe because of low sales or something.

Nowadays I buy iced coffee by "Emmi", but it is getting more and more expensive. Months ago a small bottle of 230ml cost Ä0,99, now it costs Ä1,29!!

Computer and Electronics / I have a recording question
« on: July 23, 2011, 09:31:45 AM »
I recommend the following programs:

No23 Recorder (classic!)
Power Sound Editor Free (indeed powerful, you can add effects, clean audio, cut audio etc. etc. etc.! However, in the free version, you can only save recorded audio to wave, but I think this isn't a problem since everyone here should have audio converters)

I would like to explain how to enable "StereoMix" (or Wave Out Mix), but unfortunately I have a German operating system and I don't know English words for "Systemsteuerung" etc. :(
