Title: Any strictly LBT RPG?
Post by: Malte279 on January 31, 2006, 06:42:49 PM
Hi!
I'm just wondering if there is any land before time RPG here that does not include any non LBT elements? Is there any interest in such a strictly LBT RPG at all?

Strictly speaking, Malte, no, All of our Rpg have some non-LBT elements in them.

Excellent idea, Malte  :DD This aspect is one reason I haven't played an active role on the RPG threads.
If a Purely LBT RPG were to start, I'd be interested in taking part!
Perhaps if we set up a "sign-up" system, we could get an RPG going:

Anyone who is interested in taking a part for a Purely LBT RPG, post your requested role here!  Perhaps, place two or more choices in case you can't get the one you wanted at first:

Choice #1: Cera (if someone else has a vision for Cera's role, I'd be happy to let them have the position)

Choice #2: One "villan", or any one guest character who may be present

Once we get a few people in, someone can start an LBT RPG topic, and people can join in as they see fit.

If you're unhappy about it, Malte, create one with a little small print: "strictly LBT--any outside elements will be removed" and see what happens.

^ Thanks Roger. Perhaps that is a good idea. On the other hand I'm afraid that might stop everyone who is not too interested in a strictly land before time RPG from even taking a look at the RPG so chances would be tiny for anybody to join up later.
We would have to agree on some rules for such an RPG. The most important rule should be that the plot ought to be of the kind that could be made a movie without any problem (which would exclude the possibilities of story crossing overs, time travells, humans, science fiction stuff, super powers to the characters etc. We would have to go without all that).
Who apart from Action9000 and me would be interested in such an RPG?

could I ask why now all the sudden after over 2 years your complaining about it? this is kind of surprising.

I am confused of such a move... it like someone dug up a grave and attacked this RPG section with a spade. All this time that been going on why now speak up on such a thing? a long time and now a killing move is made that sounds like me, Nick and Mirumoto_Kenjiro put on the shotting line cause of what we done in the pasted.

It only been us three that done such a rpg. we ask others in the past but no one said they like to join it was unplesent to see so many refusing to join in, just like you Malte and Rogar we asked both of you before and you two said no and others we asked also said no or left the RPG.

so why now speak of such Strictly LBT RPG after all this time you'd said you hate doing RPG?  <_<

To Malte:

If you have the time, give it a try and see what happens.  I don't know who will join or what will become of it.  I'm not comitting myself to any role plays at this time.

To Threehorn:

1.) This has been something I've heard on and off since this forum was created.  Since role play isn't really my thing, I haven't kept watch over it and let Nick run it as I saw fit.  I had thought "LBT RPG" as a forum name would imply that members would abide by whatever restrictions have been shown from the films.  I guess it didn't turn out that way.

2.) I don't see it as attacking, but rather someone who wants to join in, and wants to go by what we've seen in the films.  Anything less would be in a random role play now wouldn't it?

3.) My refusing to join is usually time based.  Besides the Gang of Five, I also watch over three other boards as the owner's "second in command" you might say.  That's responsibility, and yes, it does thin out my time across at least four places.  Beyond four boards I have some type of "staff job" at, I do visit at least five other boards where I'm simply a member and reply and talk to others.  Do the math--nine boards.    It's nuts.  You think I sit on the computer all day?  Hell no!  So, before you go against me (and Malte) saying that we hate role plays, perhaps there's another reason we don't join in.  Assumptions get you in trouble in life.

We've discussed this issue before malte. Yes, our RPg have included non-lBt elements, although the one we have now, has far less of them than previous ones. as for a  strictly LBT rp, go for it. I'd be gladd to lend a hand(preferably as a minor character so i don't get the urge to add in non-lBT stuff :P: )

I often have the impression that you feel I'm attacking you when I don't Threehorn!
Please quote lines from my messages where I am attacking this RPG, digging up graves etc. I must say I find it disturbing always to be made a ghoul (that's pretty much what you just described) or a fame gobbler or whatever other names you have already given to me!  <_<
Really, GET A GRIP!
I did not attack this forum, nor did I tell anyone to stop their RPGs! All I have done is asking whether people are interested in an RPG which (unlike the others) don't include elements that would not fit into an LBT movie! Will you try to ban stricktly LBT RPGs from an LBT board?
Apart from the shortage of time (I will have some more in a week when my exams are done) the nature of the RPGs is one reason why I never participated in one here, and I daresay I'm not the only one. Not everyone fancies crossing overs off LBT and Star Treck or the like. So there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with me asking if there are others around here who would fancy such an LBT only RPG.
So get of my throat! Please read and understand my posts next time before getting pissed off at them, for in the long run (after all this is by no means the first time) it is going to piss ME off!

Calm down malte. you too threehorn. it is sometimes hard to show intent or tome while posting. Whatever feelings you have don't translate to the screen. Malte is not attacking our RPg Threehorn, so there's no need to get defensive. However, it is clear that not everyone shares our affinity for crossovers using LBt characters. Perhaps a pure-Lbt Rp would work, didn't you and Kenji do one Threehorn?

Quote I got from a quick glimpse at Great Lake:
Quote
"Welcome to the future... 65 million years in the furture our time and place... the date is 2312. I am the captain of this ship above I am Captain Steves." the creature spoke with a warm friendly voice.
I really think I have a good point when I think it is about time to start a strictly LBT RPG if there is any interest at all.

that was just some random quick ending I came up with I know it not much of a ending but it just some ending to the rpg I didn't quite get to do in a ending... my bad I think. all part from that it was ok. no furture stuff like that

Several pages back we have a sharptooth being turned physically into a leafeater. Shall I check for more?
I stick to what I said. If anyone is looking for a strictly LBT RPG he or she won't find it here yet. There is nothing ghoulish about me asking people about it.

I'm still with the idea of a strict LBT RPG.  Most of the time I would often adapt to new and sudden changes, but there are moments I just have to draw the line.  I'd also like something that really sticks to the subject.

Maybe we should set up some rules on RPGing to make sure none of us would try to cross the line like we did several times before?

I have put up a temporary set of rules.  Read them over and see if the ones who plan to take place in this want to make any changes.  A new character list should be made too since there are obviously some new members that want to join in.

If we start such a strictly LBT RPG I agree that there ought to be some rules we ought to agree on (only for that particular RPG).
My suggestion for the most basic rule is:
Try to keep the story in a way so it could easily be made a movie without any contents which wouldn't appear in a land before time story.
Among that stuff that would not appear in a land before time story would be humans, any whatsoever kind of fanfiction stuff, any characters from other stories.
I strongly suggest to keep aliens from outer space out of it. One may hold against this point that we probably had two in LBT 7, but I must say it seemed almost like a non-LBT element in an LBT movie.
Also there ought not to be any magical powers or supernatural abilities whatsoever. Rumors about such stuff perhaps (that was definitely in several LBT movies), but nothing too tangible.
As for violence I think it mustn't be banned from an LBT RPG. We have fights in LBT movies, we have deaths... but lets include that for stories' not for gorries' sake.
Are there any further points or points I named which need to be discussed? Who would like to give such an RPG a try?

EDIT: Apparently Roger brought up a set of rules while I was typing. Let's see to what degree we agree  :^.^:

Those sound like fair rules. If we want to use non-lbt elements, we can use the Random Roleplay section.
