Since this film is coming out by the end of the month I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread about it. What are your thoughts so far based on marketing?

Huge Kauji/Gojira fan, so seeing this smackdown is a must!

There is a spoiler via toys about the other monster in the film. Should I share?

Don't you think the film is coming out way too fast? The first trailer was dropped a couple months ago and it's already being released. That is not normal. I am excited but worried at the same time.

I know they began pre-production on it back in 2019, even in King of Monsters (2019) credits it mentions Kong and alludes to a smack down to come.

2019-2021, that’s a good amount of time to put a movie together.

I am a little worried that this film will be a let down for different reasons.

Most versus films have not done well:

Alien vs Predator (Overhyped)
Alien vs Predator Requiem (Disgusted even die hard fans, plus poor lighting)
Drucula vs Frankenstein (1971, has a score of 3.6 out 10 on IMBD)

Even King Kong vs Godzilla (1962) only has 5.9 out of 10 on IMBD and 50% Rotten Tomatoes. I go by IMBD because the score comes from normal viewers, like if you posted an Amazon review.

At the moment Gozilla vs King Kong (2021) has a 7.5 out of 10 IMBD and a 79% Rotten Tomatoes Fresh rating. Tomorrow we will see if we both agree with those ratings.

I am hoping I can rent it at midnight on HBO Max.

So without providing any spoilers, because I am watching it tomorrow, what were your thoughts?

Turns out the HBO subscription I have isn’t HBO Max. So I will have to sign up to watch it. Ugh.

Saw it, I do not recommend it. It had great action, particularly the first round between Gojira and Kong, but aside from that It was a let down due to ignoring plot points, and symbolism from Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019)

I felt the SPOILER was rushed and demolished too quickly; it should have been the focal point of a sequel I’d have called “Destroy All Monsters,” in which it kills Titans, giving it the title “Destroy All Monsters.” It felt like a third wheel to the movie.
