Because I am an animal lover myself, I just would like to know, what animals do you guys like?
If you want to know what my favorite animals are, look under my avatar and see the print there. :D
However, I will add some more animals to the list:
*Horses
*Snakes
*Spiders
*Dolphins
*Whales
*Sand pipers(they have that funny way of running)
*Hamsters
*Rabbits
*Bears
*Deer
And many other animals, except for these:
*Flat Worms
*Mosquidoes
*Cockroaches (although I admire how long they can live)
*Dogs(I don't hate them like the last three, but I am cautious around them)
-
Lions! They're beautiful. And golden retriever puppies.. Aaaaaaww..
-
as in mah sig, i like foxes most, but actually i like every creature, that isn't a human...except dogs...there were some bad experiences...
-
The beautiful wolf, majestic leopard, frantic rabbit, and cunning fox.
-
As an animal lover, I can pretty much get along with any kind of pet be it dog, cat, gerbil, hamster, guinea pig etc. As for wild animals, again, just about anything goes from lions, tigers, snakes, birds, seals, whales, rabbits...whatever is fine by me.
I'm not much of a fan of creepy crawly things or invertibrates. They don't bother me too much but I prefer them to keep away from me. Things like spiders, bees, wasps, ants, daddy longlegs (aka Crane Flies) etc., I won't kill them if I can avoid it. I'd prefer to catch them and take them outside. If any kinda creature irritates me it's house flies, mosquitos and gnats. They do get under my skin....in some cases - LITERALLY! :DD

Eww! :p
-
Too much info?! :^.^: Sorry about that Mumbling :lol
-
S'okay! :p
-
Dolphins are my favourite.
Aome years ago I swimed with one, it was a great expience, realy cool :^.^:
-
I love penguins, especially Emperor Penguins!
-
Does it have to be real? If yes, than I love snakes and cats. I want a cat, but my dad is allergic and I can't get one until I move out, but then he won't be able to visit. Also, at my bus-stop, a cat sits on the window ledge in the house I stand in front of. I have affectionately named this cat "Kitty" because Kitty is awesome. Snakes are just plain cool.
If it doesn't have to be real, dragons. They just rule.
-
I think we all already know what my favorite animal is.
-
I'm a cat person.
-
I like all living things. I don't like to be around some of them, but that doesn't mean I don't like them. For instance, I don't want some bug crawling on me but so long as they keep to themselves, I like 'em. :p
-
Snakes.....snakes....snakes....bats.....snakes....bats....snakes....snakes...("the only thing I have to keep me from going insane is my personal collection of singing potatoes" :p )
Okay, bats and snakes, hence my name on some message boards, Bat-Snake. Lately it's been more snakes
(Foxes ARE dogs <_< . I hate it when people do that. Saying they like an animals that's related to ones they don't like.)
-
Birds, mostly... I don't mind the occasional dog (I happen to be rather close to my mom's, though I guess she would be mine as well, but so much more my mom's), or cat, but I'm mostly a bird person, and even then... ....Hmm.... I don't exactly have this HUGE interest in animals like I once did... Frogs are kinda cool.. :p ...Now, if I could BE any animal, I'd have to say, a cross between a Frog and an Eagle, tactfully coined Frogle, though not by myself... :p I don't mind spiders and snakes, either..
-
I like most Animals, however i dislike most insects. When i get to thinking about an insect, the image of one that's been squashed appears in a close-up in my mind. -shivers- I don't like seeing the insides of organisms. :x Anyway, as i said, i like most animals, and some Insects, however my favorite type of animal in particular (not the entire family, just one certain type) would have to be Siberian(or Iberian, i don't remember) Lynx. I love them, although i've never actually seen one up close. (Rather than the Tiger, my second favorite, whom i took a picture with a trained one at a zoo with it's cage door open and roaring. Ah, good memories)
-
My favorite aniaml is the lobster, for no reason other than that I've never met anyone who's picked that as their favorite.
-

Same here. I just love the big outdoors and being in nature :^.^:. I have two Cocker Spaniels, a cockatiel, and a Congo African Grey parrot as pets . Cockers are my favorite breed of dog :yes. I also like cats, especially calicos, Himalayans, Siamese, tabbies and pure black. I love almost all creatures great and small, and some of my favorites are:
*Wolves
*Tigers :D
*Dolphins
*Stingrays
*Seahorses
*Herons and egrets
*Leopards
*Bobcats
*Elephants
*Meerkats (Timon :D)
*American Bald Eagles
*Foxes
*Bears (especially polar)
*Rabbits
*Rats and mice
*Ravens
*Monkeys and apes
Even outdoor enthusiasts have their critter fears. Mine are:
*Spiders
*Snakes (no offense, Ptyra)
*Most reptiles
*Leeches
*Any pissed off wildlife that's bigger than me, which is not hard considering I'm only 5'2" :lol
-
I've been extremely offended by dislike of snakes since some idiots at school decided to pick on me. I havn't had any problems about it now, but last year was awful. I'd be in tears at some points because of them, so because of that I tend to have a tiny grude against dislike of snakes.
-
Hmm...I like dogs somewhat(larger ones anyways - anything smaller than a springer spaniel is not good for me), but I like cats better - I can get along better with most cats than most dogs.
-
@Ptyra: I guess that's the same with me and cats. I absolutely LOVE them to death. And whenever I see someone say they hate cats and think they are worst animals in the world, I just want to hit the roof. I mean sometimes I'm not offended, but other times I am. :p
-
I really hope I did not offend ya, Ptyra :(. Everyone has their fears. I personally dislike hearing anyone say they don't like dogs or cats, especially without a truly valid cause <_<, but they have the right to their opinion also.
-
Sharks.. I love sharks.
They glide through the water, silent and deadly.
Of cause, whales and dolphins are in my favorite too, thought that would probably be the orca, the most.
Eagles, Hawks, Falcons. Beautiful creatures, as they glide on the winds of the world.
I'm not afraid of most creatures, but what I'm afraid of, is a creature that will bite me, or hurt.
Example a rabbit. If it bites me, I will have defficulties on holding another rabbit some other time.
-
*Snakes
*Lizards
*Turtles
*Crocodiles
*Alligators
*Sharks
*Eagles
*Hawks
*Falcons
*Ostriches
*Emus
*Lions
*Tigers
*Cheetahs

Decided to bump this thread. :3
As far as fantasy animals go these are my faves:
Pegi
Phoenixes
Certain types of dragons
Mermaids
Griffins
Faeries (they can come in many forms)
Winged cats
-
I forgot to put my list down:
Dogs
Wolves
Foxes
African Spotted Dogs
New Guinea Singing Dogs
Eagles
Falcons
Owls
Hummingbirds
Dragonflies
Praying Manti
Ladybugs
Manta Rays
Stingrays
-
I lke it when old threads are bumped. ( :bang Oops....I meant ''old'' not ''all'')
As for me:
-Cats
-Owls:My favourite owl is the little owl or Athene noctua.
-Lions
-Orcas/Killer whales
If we are going off on fantasty terms:
-Dragons: Who would not want a pet dragon?;)
-Griffins
-Rocs: Not Rocks, but Rocs...although I like rocks too...:p
-
The only breed of dog I like are labradors. My current dog is just annoying, not like my old companion. Not to mention my grandparents had a nasty german shepard and my aunt and uncle owned an evil dalmation.
Anyway...
*Cats (Including house-hold and wild.)
*Snakes
*Spiders
*Sharks
*Dolphins
*Whales
*Rays
*Any kind of lizard. (Crocodiles, aliigators, and especially Komodo dragons.)
*African Wild Dogs and Hyenas are cool. (Poor Hyenas get too much flak.)
*Honey Badger/Ratel
*Frogs
*Praying Mantis
*Beetles
*Grasshoppers
*Crickets
*Bees
*Dragonflies
Fictional critters:
*Dragons, dragons, dragons
*Gryphons

Labs are cool aren't they? :) Though I really wouldn't judge a dog by its breed, I would judge the people that own the dog. I think pit bulls are beautiful dogs and they can be very sweet animals, they're only banned because of the bad rep. And if I had the patience for dogs and would own one, I would. :yes
I think those animals are cool too. :) Though Hyenas I think are more of a VERY distant cousins of dogs. They have a very interesting and different life style then wolves. The females are the top and it's the more docile males that breed rather then the aggressive ones.
-
I'm surprised I didn't have otters on my original list, but they're the fun sociable animals that always stick together. :)
-
Dogs are cool I'll admit, but they're not all for me. A dog requires care, while a cat is more independent.
Yeah, one of the reasons I like hyenas is because they're such unique animals. Not saying I'd want to be one though. :p
Oh, and wolves should also be on my list. And otters too. :DD
-
Whoa, I wasn't aware that this thread existed! :o Thanks for bumping it, Amy!
To keep my list short(er), I'll limit it to animals that are still alive today, or have been wiped out by humans in recorded history (extinct and probably extinct species are marked with a Ü). They won’t be in any particular order, but I’ll categorize them by taxonomic group.
Okey-dokey…everyone ready? :p

Whew! I got kinda lazy with the invertebrates as far as specification goes, but I think you’ll agree that that list is comprehensive enough. :p
-
^It would've been quicker to list the animals you don't like.
-
thats quite a list Pangea
Me I like virtually any animal
-
^It would've been quicker to list the animals you don't like.
:spit :spit :spit :spit
He's got a point, what don't you like? :p
-
Why parasitic flies? I thought that they weren't good for anything but disease.
-
He's got a point, what don't you like? :p
Hmm…You kinda got me there. :p I suppose humans are on both my favorite and least favorite lists, because while I do care about people, I hate the fact that we've done so much damage to the environment and killed off so many species. :bang I definitely don't care for the mosquitoes that try to bite me or the flour moths plaguing our household, and while I like watching deer, I'm not happy that they devour all foliage within six feet of the ground in our neighborhood every year (There are around one million deer in Minnesota, and with little to control them besides car accidents and hunting season, they can be a real nuisance). Not to mention that I'd just as soon get rid of all the populations of invasive species causing ecological damage around the world (even though many of them are species on my favorites list). However, there's not really any species that I hate as a whole; it's only certain individuals and populations that I may not like.
Still, perhaps I should have limited my list to the creatures I'm especially, passionately fond of. I have serious trouble choosing favorites. :p
Why parasitic flies? I thought that they weren't good for anything but disease.
I actually find parasites rather fascinating, but I mainly meant the flies that parasitize other insects; you know, the kind that inspired the life cycle of the creatures in the Alien series (fly lays an egg on or inside a caterpillar or other insect; egg hatches and larva either sponges off on what its host eats, or eats the host itself; eventually larva kills host and pupates, emerging as an adult). Gruesome, but I find it interesting, and these flies play a major role in keep insect populations in check, including many that destroy human crops.
-
Mostly elephants, dolphins, horses, lions and actually cattle(go figure).
-
As I said on the Ask Me thread my favorite animals are Cats and Horses.
-
I'm thinking of renewing my list of animals I love myself. Though I have to admit, I'm like Pangaea where it's not whole classes of animals I don't like, it's just those few individuals I may not like. And while I don't really like ticks injecting lyme disease in people, I understand that ticks are there for a purpose and I've grown to respect these little buggers(literally and figuratively).
I'll have to admit though, for some reason I feel strange calling human beings "animals", I don't have any religious preference to it or anything...it just...doesn't feel right to me. Though it might have to do with me being in an Evangelical Christian school for almost four years, even though I am home schooled away from them, I had exposure towards them and their beliefs and understand that some Christians in other sects don't call themselves animals. I can see why, the bible doesn't call human beings animals, at least not from what I know, but anyway, that's another topic.
*reads Pangaea's list to see where my favorite animals are classified*
-
I have another to include:
Platypus.
-
My favourites are owls, crows, squirrels, jerboas, butterflies, foxes, horses, seagulls, small cats, big cats, eagles, hawks, lemurs, and many more. But in most cases I prefer fictional animals over real ones.
-
birds, especially parrots :D I have two budgies and a canary bird :)
-
I love cats the most.
-
All of them, but my personal favorites are:
Frogs
Birds (mostly Cranes, Eagles, Hawks, Woodpeckers and Owls)
Gators
Dragons (if it counts, even though they're mythical creatures)
Cats
Dogs
Fish
Dinosaurs (even though they're extinct)
Platypus
Bears
Monkeys
Snakes
Hedgehogs
Echidnas
Bats
Insects (mostly the praying mantis)
-
My favorite animals include:
Cats - My pets, but especially Cheetahs, Lions, Cougars, Snow Leopards, and Pallas Cats.
Red foxes
Deer - White-tailed deer and Fallow deer.
Dinosaurs - Theropods of any kind, but I like pretty much all of them.
Seals and Sea Lions
Thylacines
Quaggas
Birds - Chickadees, Mourning Doves, Hawks, and Emus.
I tend to like any extinct animal, mostly because I want to know what happened to them, and also because you can't just walk outside and observe them anymore. :(
-
I like almost all animals.
My personal favorites are parrots, birds of prey, sharks and many bony fish.
-
All animals, but there is definitely an all-time favorite for me: the alligator snapping turtle.
-
Okay, before anyone freaks out, let me just say I used to volunteer at a museum, ergo I got to handle all the fabulous animals, even got over my fear of snakes.
Reptiles - SNAKES! Geckoes, turtles, monitor lizards, dinosaurs too, mostly theropods :3
Lagomorphs - wild hares
Insects - butterflies, katydids
Arachnids - crab, argiope, orb weavers, one type of funnel webster (H. Formidibilis)
Avians - corvids, cranes, owls, pretty much all raptors (yes, including vultures), swans, some songbirds. Not too much inclined to parrots, they're pretty malicious :p
Marsupials - opossums (these things are to-die-for cute!!), kangaroos, pademelons
General Mammals - cats, ferrets, foxes, rodents, chinchillas
Bats - flying foxes mostly
====
In short, I'm a huge nerd
-
Oy, what is it with double posting?!
-
lol Strut nice list.
I will attempt a copy :D
Reptiles: dinosaurs (derp!), crocodiles, boa constrictors, turtles (the little ones in ponds lol so cute)
Insects: Rhino beetle, Bumblebee (SO CUTE), praying mantis, ants (the non-evil kinds)
Arachnids: Crabs I guess. Some spiders are cute (OTHERS NOT SO)
Some frogs are cute lol.
Avians: PENGUINS, lyre bird, various birds of paradise, Owls, eagles, albatross, those antarctic terns or whatever they're called.
Marsupials: Thylacine (R.I.P.), kangaroos. Are armadillos or their cousins marsupials? Ant-eaters? I dunno but I like those too.
Flying foxes are also awesome lol. and some other bats
------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally, my favorite group of animals is mammals. Both land and sea.
Short lists::::::
Aquatic: Orca (<3), blue whale, sperm whale, humpback whale, dolphin, etc.
Oh, these aren't mammals, but I like sharks too.
Land/Partial Water: Wolves/Foxes (they're tied lol), dogs (german shepherd, etc), river otters, horses, meerkats, panthers, jaguars, lions, elephants, hippos, jerboas, the list goes on
Fictional animals? Dragons are the bomb :D
-
There really isn't an animal I don't like. I even find spiders to be pretty awesome, and it's hard to believe I used to be scared of them :p.
-
Insects
Stink bugs - despite the name, most are cute and harmless
Ladybugs - cute too, and in addition very useful to man (it's a shame people kill them with indiscriminate pesticide use)
Madagascar hissing cockroaches - very cool
Bees
Bumblebees
Moths - I know this is a huge grouping, but I don't know enough to be more specific
Stag beetles
Vertebrates
too many to list, I would highlight the bonobos, our peaceful close relatives
-
I LOVE mustelids! Absolutely my favorite kind of family! Stoats or short-tailed weasels probably come in first for me. I like how they can change their coats from brown to white in the winter and then back to brown in the summer. That's just so unique to me, and I've always loved otters as well. They're still one of my favorite types of animal.
I like reptiles as well, with geckos and salamanders (amphibians) and monitors being particular favorites. Newts (amphibians) are cool too.
I also like members of the mongoose family, like meerkats. :smile
Hmmm... also, pangolins. Those are rather awesome mammals. :smile
And of COURSE, dinosaurs!
-
lol Strut nice list.
I will attempt a copy
Heh, thanks. Your list came out pretty nice, too
I LOVE mustelids! Absolutely my favorite kind of family!
There's something appealing about those little slinky-like bodies :3
They're territorial little buggers and they go absolutely mental when another one crosses the line.
This vid, no sound though :p (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTuqsauU5ho)
-
^ Oh yeah! For sure! On both counts. Very territorial but adorable as all heck too! Just love that whole family.
-
I also like any type of bird. I like how they walk on you and so on. They're very awesome to look at.
-
I love every kind of animal, but crows will always be my favourite. They're intelligent, and look awesome too.
-
I agree I love crows as well. They're very cool And creepy as well.
-
I happen to like reptiles, and have literally owned two different snakes in the last six years. One an average Corn snake, and the second a six foot Red Tail Boa.
-
Ah that's awesome aren't Snakes hard to raise?
-
Actually you'd be surprised at how easy it is. They don't require much, except for exercise and regular feedings, which can be spread out over one to two weeks. Oh and all snakes no matter their size or length can swim in water. Its just so cool to see.
-
Ah wow I had no clue they where that easy to raise. They eat things like mice and other things. And you do have to pick up there dead skin they shed tho witch is okay I guess. And clean there case every now and than as well. What do you feed them that will last them two weeks?
-
The fox is my favorite animal after having some level of attachment to Tails as a junior high schooler, it stuck. I find the creatures adorable, and very catlike for a dog, and I love both cats and dogs (even though foxes are no more closely related to cats than wolves.) I have a large collection of fox related trinkets, toys, and pictures around my room. I've even been able to see fox kits in South Dakota, and a few foxes around town from time to time. C:
I love, from dinosaurs, Microraptor gui, saurolophus, Archaeopteryx lithographica, Icterus galbula, Falco peregrinus, and many more.
Mammals, I also like weasels and ferrets and otters, I like rabbits and squirrels, pangolins, okapis, pretty much any strange looking animal.
I love a lot of fish, I find them very pretty.
My favorite super weird animal (extinct) is Opabinia.
I like lots of reptiles, including snakes, I love many arthropods, scorpions, I like many shellfish and... I really just kind of like animals! X3
-
Yeah I like foxes as well. I love how sly they're and they're cute. Tails will always be my favorite sonic character. He is such a cool calm character that I looked up to at a younger age.
-
I love every kind of animal, but crows will always be my favourite. They're intelligent, and look awesome too.
Crow lovers unite! :DD
I like salamanders, like the Yellow Spotted and Tiger, which are common up here (... in the cold :() - regenerating limbs comes in handy, those lucky little buggers :p
Got to handle a young Yellow Spotted one year that was found accidentally. Worst part is, it was in the fall. WTF are you doing out in the cold, you slimy little thing? :o
-
Hard for me to pin down to just one. I like orcas, dolphins, dinosaurs, most types of reptiles, some amphibians, some types of birds, kangaroos, maybe others I can't think of right now.
-
Like bushwacked, I have great appreciation for the corvids. The intellectual abilities of crows and magpies are truly amazing. In addition, I also am a fan of two other groups of highly intelligent animals, the cetaceans and elephants. And, as my membership on this forum would indicate, I am also interested in dinosaurs. :DD
-
I love every kind of animal, but crows will always be my favourite. They're intelligent, and look awesome too.
Crow lovers unite! :DD
I'm joining your club of crow-lovers too. :)
I like those city sparrows, no matter what they do, they're always funny to watch. And they steal my food sometimes.
-
Oh those sparrows are incessant little buggers XP but fun to watch in all their hyperactive hopping.
And HOORAY! We should make an official thread!
