If anyone is interested in trying out a new webradio station. I work and DJ here from time to time. I'm in marketing and music. Currently it's mainly auto-DJ at the owner's house, but in time I'm working on getting a block set up of primarily alternative. It covers a lot of music, so be sure to give it a listen!

Member Recommendations / Midwest Bronyfest KC

I went this year to the first ever Midwest Bronyfest KC. It was fantastic. There were several great artists, well organized events, and a good attendance. The guest VA was Sam Vincent. He was great to talk with, and really was happy with the convention, as well. If you're around the KC area next year, be sure to check it out! C: I may even be helping work it next year.

The Written Word / So, There Used To Be This Guy, Right?
« on: August 02, 2013, 09:09:45 PM »
Hello, everyone. So, long, long ago, back in the years prior to 2011 and up through then, this one guy who was on the forums posted a lot, and then kind of up and vanished.

He's returned, no guarantee about consistent responses, because, honestly, this me guy, spread himself so thin on his work, that he doesn't go to a lot of places anymore, to give some depth to my stuff. I'm super active on deviantART, and, in fact, that's why I am posting here, this, today.

I jumped on the brony bandwagon when I found out I really really really really (really really) liked the new My Little Pony show. If you're turned off by that, return in a few paragraphs, as marked.

*Work ranges from G to R, all MLP stuff is G-PG, however*

I am still big on deep analysis, as I was with my Ducky analysis back in 2007. My new character I've picked up to analyze is Scootaloo from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I found the character's personality, mystery, and potential fascinating, and began studying her (I actually went back, at the end of Season 2 and rewatched every episode for this project.) After enough analysis and thinkifying, I came up with a working character in my head. To this day, I have written a fan fiction scaling the 100k word wall, currently resting at 119k words. It's a big investment to read, but it's broken into small enough chunks it's easy to pick up and drop, based on time, energy, and necessity. Thus, I present to you, Scootaloo's Personal Diary
Scootaloo's Personal Diary. (There are also two substories: one that is complete, and one that needs a major overhaul.) It's a year's work and counting, with several arcs, some commissioned art, if you're willing to have a couple spoilers to the story's content, and a lot of effort: it spans romance, sorrow, loss, friendship, ethics, and a great deal more.

*Channeling RonCo* But wait! There's more! For tuning in here, today. You get not one, but TWO My Little Pony themed products (okay, technically four, not one, not two, not three, but four!): The Deal With Bronies is a series of essays I have been writing about why the show is successful, and my thoughts relating to the cultural response. I'll even throw in, for no extra charge, my major criticisms of the show, to date!

***NONPONY FANS RETURN HERE***

My life isn't all MLP these days. I haven't done much lately with The Land Before Time, though I did receive 1, 2, and 4 on DVD for my birthday, this year.

I have also produced an original work  (I have 4 sections written, two have been edited, though,) and a Mario fanfic.

I've also produced poetry (Collection, 1, 2) and essays (1, 2, 3).

But Tails_155, you might say, isn't this a lot of writing? What if I don't have the time for literature? Well, my friend, have I got a deal for you! I have a vast collection of various media, ranging from photography, to a couple related pixel art projects, to various things, in between!

If you think there is nothing else, you would be wrong, my friend. There is plenty to explore on my deviantART as a whole! So come see what all the fuss is about that has warranted this young artist a Daily Deviation, and a feature on FIMFiction! You won't be disappointed!

Spiel aside, I would really appreciate it if you'd check out my stuff, I've spent 7 or so years working on various forms of art, and it's starting to pick up some steam, so I'm hoping to get any responses I can. Thanks for your time!  :smile

Silver Screen / Marble Hornets
« on: August 02, 2011, 12:22:04 PM »
So, there's this plot going on right now, following a group of people originally working on a film called Marble Hornets, together, whose lives have been drastically changed over the last several years by a very tall humanoid form in a suit--who appears to have the ability to plague people with disease, possibly control people, and do a real number on recordings of it, as well as two masked individuals. Jay, the narrating voice, is attempting to figure out the mystery of what is going on, as well as recover whatever scraps of memories he can from the past 7 months of his life that he does not remember at all, having awaken in a hotel in a place he does not recognize, and encountering only one other person in the hotel, save the staff. Both of them have experienced severe memory loss, and when Jay finally decides to open up to the other person, she vanishes. He discovers the passcode to get into the safe in his hotel in her room, and upon opening the safe, to a large stack of tapes and a hard drive, he is attacked and has to flee. Present day, he is going through this new mess of tapes to try and figure out what has happened over the past few years, as well as his total blackout for 7 months.

All the information is organized here, join in the mystery. (If you read everything on the page, please don't spoil it for others.)

Visual Art / Reality - The Game!
« on: July 15, 2011, 11:34:59 PM »
So I posted in September 2008 my project of the time with this:

Quote
Reality - The Game!
Reality - The Game! was a random Idea I've had for a long time that I finally started making, I'll eventually add more DVDs, Videos and CDs, which includes all 15 that I have of LBT...

If you have something else you'd like to see as a 24x24 or smaller sprite, message me on deviantArt and I'll see what I can do :)

1,200

This still holds true. I have made a lot since then, and instead of making it literally just an art project idea of what could be a game, I created fragments of a tabletop-game mechanic system for the game, too.

Any input is appreciated, I enjoy pixel art, and put a lot of time into it, I'd like to hear what you have to say! I have noticed my characters are a bit... tilted looking? Hard to say, you should see what I mean, though. Other than that I haven't heard much feedback.

There's also a (presently VERY tiny) spin-off called Game - The Game!
Game - The Game!

The Written Word / Life Is Beautiful
« on: April 27, 2011, 02:55:16 AM »
I made a thread about this years ago, and the project kept on, though it has drastically changed in tone and quality... For those of you who don't know (or don't remember) I am in the process of writing a book, and it's coming along at varying paces as time goes on... I had a large influx of writing a couple of years ago, and then I stripped the work of all the lackluster things (they're still available, but not included in the book's framework) and started anew, basically.

For anyone interested, here is the current list of works.

Tell me what you think, what you like, what could be improved, etc.

I hope making a new thread for this after all this time is acceptable.

Silver Screen / Cinema Verite
« on: April 25, 2011, 10:01:32 PM »
Well.. I haven't been on here in roughly 2883910356 years or whatever... but I happened to catch this movie on HBO/Cinemax/Encore/Starz/whatever when I was basically just too lazy to change the channel... and it was really interesting, it's about what is more or less the first example of reality television, a PBS broadcast from a long while ago... it's really worth checking out....

Oh and... my favorite character, Lance, turns out to be more or less the central character (I'll eschew all the spoilers) happens to be... none other than... Thomas Dekker... funny that...

Anyway, if you get a chance, check it out, tell me what you think.

The Written Word / Life Is Beautiful.: Scratchings of a Madman
« on: March 13, 2009, 07:14:13 AM »
Life Is Beautiful. is the short book I'm writing, I'm shooting for 155 pages (shocked?) and I'm over halfway there, so that's good to me...Please check it out, I put a lot of work into it so far...

DISCLAIMER: This book is highly cynical, sociopolitical, philosophical, and atheist, the language is not child-friendly, and the works should be taken with an open mind.

Thanks ahead of time :)

Gamers Zone / Total Game Anihilation!
« on: January 05, 2009, 04:14:58 AM »
Keeping with my usual expertise of not knowing in which of a couple of Fora to place this... I've had a long fascination with several things in gaming...

1. Glitches; above all else, glitches fascinate me, when coding goes wrong, in a harmless or even beneficial way... (bugs are crashes/etc. to me...)

2. 100%'s; while the total amount of games I've acquired 100% on could be counted on one hand (Kirby 64, Paper Mario*, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario,) 100% fascinates me "total" completion... especially when 100% is more than 100% (101-3 in Donkey Kong games, 117 in a Spyro game, or just a notable 100%+, such as a total completion plus the Stop and Swops in Banjo-Kazooie...)

3. Instant Gratification; who doesn't like getting what they want instantly every now and then?

4. Oddities; things in games, oft due to an idea removed, but not in full, or some cameo/allusion for entertainment's sake...

5. A Good Show; something that really knocks you off your feet, be it a great game, great story, or one of those flukes that, on the contrary, brings you jumping TO your feet

6. An Old Game Brought Back To Life; when you dust off that cabinet and discover old treasures...

7. Minimalists; the reverse of 100%, common in Metroid games...

8. Luck Manipulation; beating the clock of the game, to a degree

* I am convinced I am stuck at 99.9999% as I'm missing 1 star piece and hence, badge... even though I did a walk through of piece by piece online countless times and still am missing the one...

Where am I going with this? My fascination in these has led me to several discoveries... several interesting sites... and strong interest in specific games...

Topping the game list are:

Pokemon Red/Green/Blue, and to a lesser extent, Yellow (Loath Pikachu, besides, a few fixes) - Due to several ways of saving space, may variables rely on strange things, it's why you can get Mew, Missingno., and M' without a Game Genie...
Donkey Kong 64 - There are a few bits and pieces that are peculiar about this game, good examples are the "AB room" as I'll call it, the control tower inside the island, and its connection to the leading game of the moment for me...

Banjo-Kazooie (the series) - Stop N' Swop... this little novelty has a few things known about it... and I have links which will elaborate... This game went through MANY changes in the time from conception to release, and to which have been alluded in every game since...

Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars - on a lower level, Abarna10 uncovered a few interesting things with debug which were, at least, entertaining, and it also holds one of the most peculiar, and arguably difficult challenges of any game I know... that isn't actually impossible

Numerous Legend of Zelda and (other) Donkey Kong games - for some reason these series have both had very extreme glitches... which lead to very interesting events...
Sonic 2 - I'm not sure how many of you know of it, but the omitted levels which were discovered from a New York Toy Show release sample cartridge which was stolen, and later copied to a pirated cartridge in China, have been released and are somewhat easy to find online... heading the list is the Hidden Palace Zone, which I believe has better art than its counterpart in S3K

Sonic Adventure 2 - this game has an unbelievable amount of glitches, which are very, very strange...

On a watching level, Super Mario 64, as I shall explain in video links...
And also I must note any game with a debug mode is very interesting, due to the ability to truly experience all the little toys in the game (to use all the rarest items and actually see their uses... not just for entertainment, but to really find out about them, sometimes they aren't quite as useful as they seemed)

Some sites I have stumbled upon for this include:

Flying Omelette's Kitchen
Flying Omelette's Kitchen (I linked to the oddities page, as that's what I am specifically referencing)

The Speed Demos Archive I really love speed runs, they can combine any number of the above interests (except 100%/Minimalist... I think anyway XD)

TASVideos Tool-assisted speed runs take this one step further, by even falsifying the statement above...

The Rare Witch Project Specifically for Banjo-Kazooie, the place for Stop N' Swop info...

TRsRockin THE page for PokÈmon Glitch-ness

Glitch City Laboratories if not, this is

S2B formerly known as Simon Wai's Sonic 2 Beta Page, this is a thorough explanation of the mysteries lost in the Sonic 2 product...

Secrets of Sonic Team one of two hubs of study for Sonic games... unfortunately left for dead as of now, though the site still works, just out of date...

Sonic Cult Viewer Discretion Advised the second of the two hubs, a little raunchier...

X-Cult the parent site for Sonic Cult...

Unseen64 another unreleased/prelease study site... I don't know as much about this one, so take a little caution, it may have popups, etc.

Super Mario RPG Secrets Abarna10's webside... and yes, I managed to find a Tripod page that has interesting stuff on it (no offense if someone... happens to have a Tripod)

The Mushroom Kingdom a plethora of Mario info...

Now... as for Super Mario 64... No game has been so thoroughly beaten as this... First... you can beat it with 100%, 120 Stars, or you can beat it with 70 Stars, the minimum requirement for the final boss fight... There used to be videos of others, 50 stars, to get in to the last area, 20 stars to get to the second boss fight, then, came the 16 Star run... now the only requirement is that rabbit appearing (hence 16)... Then people figured... that was too much, let's narrow it down to one, why one? to get to the second boss, behind a painting until you get the star on the submarine... but that just wasn't satisfactory... who needs stars anyway? but... don't you think that means it's over... this game's speed run has been fought for years, don't be shocked if one day someone figures out how to skip the keys as well... some other strange videos have been made as well... I may update this if people show interest...

The Fridge / Are You Fandumb?
« on: November 12, 2008, 12:36:21 AM »
Fandumbs are specific personalities which vex, or even offend others because of the burden they put on the rest of the society related to their fandumbness...

I already know I have been a Freedom Fighter and Martyr... on this site alone... and have even, perhaps, in the SAME thread stooped so low as to become a Toxic Visionary...

Okay, now that I've proven I am more than willing to sling mud at the mirror...

Anyone else willing to step up to the plate or am I the only one who seems to wander blindly through the halls of Artistic License?

Silver Screen / Religulous
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:21:46 PM »
I don't know where this fits, but I have a feeling it will travel to After Dark before long...

Who has seen the documentary Religulous? I saw it and was thoroughly thrilled, it brought yet another perspective to the religion debate to the table, and one I found very well thought out, and very well done.

Note this is not an open debate on religion, just the reaction to the film, because there is already a thread for the religion debate in total

Silver Screen / Futurama
« on: September 11, 2008, 11:52:10 PM »
This is a great show :p I love it, the goofy jokes, the interesting plot, the overall continuity.... it's spectacular... and their music (by Christopher Tyng) is so good that I actually downloaded the opening theme XD

*vague spoiler* The continuity is spectacular... a character who doesn't show up until a later episode... though not much later... has cues about his existence in the first episode... as well as any major plot holes you can point out, are often summed up, explained, and fully covered... it's spectacular... *vague spoiler*

They are no longer airing the show... at least not new episodes, though Comedy Central plays reruns...

They were signed once more by Fox for 4 movies... and I have the first two... and they're great! The special features are even worth checking out! I rarely say that about DVDs, and even more stunning to me, is how the commentary is so great! The cast seems like a lot of fun... and Tress MacNeille (Petrie's Mom) voices no less than 50 characters over the course of the show...

The detail that the team puts into it is astounding... so much real math and physics goes into making things unnecessarily precise, and all the more amazing... the team has several PHDs in math and science between the editors, directors, artists, etc. and they make some jokes so subtle that it's amazing, math jokes that nearly no one would get (I didn't get them until I did even geekier research to actually explain what I missed...

In all this series is amazing, funny, and all around great :) What do you think?

The Written Word / Not Fair
« on: May 15, 2008, 10:33:26 PM »
Foreword: This poem is very important to me, because I wrote it for my sister, who was adopted by us after having lived with an abusive family

It’s not fair, not fair
Not at all;
You’ve done nothing
wrong
The only thing you did
Was live.

It’s not fair, not fair
Not at all;
I wish for the same
Every time I see it
I wish to be there, to
defend
To defend you from
them
Who don’t want you
To Live

I wish for the same
Every time I see it
I see it the same
Every time I see it
That terror and pain
So clear in your eyes
Screaming.

Screaming, loud,
So loud
The screaming in your eyes
Deafens to the point
The screams from your mouth
Are lost, unheard

Just as unheard as they were,
By the ears of the one who
Left you like this
Left you like this.

For you it was not too late
But for some… for some
Help never comes…
Never comes…
They lie all alone, asking
What did I do?
But they did nothing wrong
All they did
Was live.

It’s not fair, not fair
Not at all;
I wish for the same
Every time I see it
I wish to be there, to
defend
To defend you from
them
Who don’t want you
To Live
