Title: Basic rules and regs for RPG participation
Post by: action9000 on May 09, 2007, 05:37:32 PM
Please consider the following rules regarding RPGs to ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience here:

1) The creator of the RPG does not have infinte power over which direction the RPGs go unless this is agreed upon at the Very start of the RPG by all participants.
In other words, if you start an RPG, you need to understand that different people will tend to pull a story in a different direction than you may have had in mind.  If you really want to take a story in Your direction, I suggest you write a story instead of start an RPG.  Forum RPGs tend to be quite dynamic since every  participant will have different ideas for it.  If you don't want to listen to these ideas, I recommend you write your own story instead.

2) Give the members ample time to find and decide to join your RPG.  There is no benefit to complaining about people not joining your RPG.  All that will accomplish is general annoyance to anyone who reads your post.  If you want a succcessful RPG, be patient and let people join in their own time.

3)This is a Random RPG board.  Any LBT-based RPGs should go in the Land Before Time RPG section of the boards. LBT Crossovers belong in the LBT forum, otherwise the only LBT RPGs on the LBT forum would be strict RPGs, and we all know how many of them there are... :P:
4) [ NO God-modding  Characters may use magic, and may posess extensive powers. However, their powers may not be so great as to be utterly unbeatable. No impossible feats will be allowed, such as reviving the dead, surviving having ones head chopped off, etc. Use common sense, and common courtesy to other RPers, and above all else, have fun.

Violation of these rules, depending on their severity, may result in a discussion, editting or closure of the topic or a warning.

I have introduced a new policy to the RPG boards.  If an RPG contains any significant reference to LBT, it belongs in the LBT forum.  I am doing this because otherwise, very few RPGs would appear in the LBT RPG forum.  The Random RPG board is Only for RPGs which have little or no reference to LBT. B)

Admins: are you okay with this decision?

I thought it was it was already there.  Some folks may be unhappy with that rule but it does fit.  Though my opinion means nothing so just a wast of time and space to put it here.

I thjought it was too, but it wasn't specifically banned. So i've gone ahead and banned it. No one will want to roleplay with anyone who god-mods constantly..

That may help, but some won't think they are power gaming, when they are.

I have a quick question, if someone is roleplaying as one of the main characters(Littlefoot for example) can you RP as them in a different RP? just wondering(Not that i would be RP-ing as anyone anytime soon. RP-ing's a little rusty for me.)

Yes you can use those characters in a different roleplay, yes, you could have several people playing Littlefoot,  Cera etc, in various Rps at the same time..

Usually at the start of an rp some folks well pick to play an fc.  Someone would usually say, I"ll be Ducky, someone else may say, I'll be, or I want to be Littefoot ect.  I've done different fc's in different rps.  Not the same char in any 1 rp.  If that makes any sense.   Most rp's have a list of who's playing which FC, often early in the discussion thread.

How about violence? Would firearm usage on human-like entities (like zombies) be too much? What about bloodshed?

well that would be permissible. just don't have it be 10 straight pages of extremely graphic and horrific violence, like torture or violent executions.

A lot of these more specific questions should be asked to the GM of the RP in mind. Its going to vary based on tone, content, and how far each GM wants his players to go.

Not sure  if this is even the right place to ask this question, but I've never done any sort of Role playing before. Do I  just reply in a thread, or do I need to have an established character then put them in the thread where characters are listed?

Hi Moon. Just pick a character, it can be canon or your own creation, then join the roleplay. Any questions, just ask

Feel free to post in the discussion thread for any particular RP if you want help ironing out your character, or ideas on how to integrate into the ongoing plot
