Since age 4. :D  Original was my favorite.  Did watch some of the sequels, but never liked them as much as the original film.

What do you do for a living?

I'm a special education teacher.  I work with adolescents, and teach them things like global history, social skills, life skills, and personal health.  This year will mark my second year at my job.

If only my students would ask how to get bonus credit. :p  I think a pat on the back will suit you just fine.  :smile

Hmmm...probably would have to be something at the Olive Garden.  They give you way too much food--bread, salad, huge bowls of pasta.  There's no way you can leave without doggie bags.

Quote
What's your favorite color?

Shades of green. :)  Reminds me of camping and bygone summers...actually that just made me sad.. :cry :cry

Quote
Was the Gang of Five your first attempt at a website?

Here's the thing...the GOF isn't a website...its a message board.  To answer your specific question, the GOF is not my first attempt at a message board either.  I think I wrote it in the history of the GOF, what attempts were made before the GOF actually caught on and you have the place you come to today.  This place just didn't come out of thin air and click...I ran at least two message boards before the GOF, three if you count the immediate predecessor of the GOF.  As for websites, I've had many over the years.  The only one that is still online and maintained by myself, is my Watership Down review site at http://watershipper.googlepages.com (http://watershipper.googlepages.com)  Austin put up the old LBT Archive which I used to run and maintain, and that was the parent site to this board for a couple of years.

Title: Ask ze boss something.

Nope, don't watch it.  Saw the latest film because I was persuaded with " you don't need to understand Star Trek to understand the film" and that was correct for the most part.

Do you have any allergies?

Pollen, pine, zythromax (some medicine I forgot what it did :p), and there's one local restaurant that puts some spice in their red sauce that caused a break out once.  Fish oil or some sort of seafood protein makes me very ill, but I don't think this is an allergy.

Quote
Would you eat the sandwich in LBT's avatar?

Darn right I would...I'm hungry!!!! :D

Quote
What's your favorite season?

Spring - no, pollen makes me sneeze, and nasal passages swell :(
Summer - too hot and humid for my liking
Winter - screw the other "s" word, hate driving in the stuff

So autumn is my favorite...not too warm or cold, I can deal with the inclement weather, and plants go into hibernation so I don't sneeze as much. :p :lol

What made you want to be a special ed teacher?

Just from someone that has LDs, I think that's awesome. :)
Title: Ask ze boss something.
Post by: Petrie. on August 12, 2009, 09:03:56 PM
Would the answer surprise you that I initially did not want to be a special ed. teacher?  I really didn't.  I wanted to teach history, but that by itself was not very marketable.  I decided that I should get a background in special education because a lot of schools in the area integrate these students into the general education setting, thus the teacher would need an understanding of how to get through to these students as well.  That was the plan, but I ended up using my special ed. skills to get the position I currently hold.  Granted the position is unique in itself, I like where I am, and I don't know if I'd want to teach history in a general ed setting.  I can be a little more creative where I am, and teach a more wide variety of things, something I wasn't likely to be doing in a general ed. setting.  Granted its more work for me, but its a little bit of a lot of different things.  Keeps you on your feet. :p

What are your favorite Disney movies? (I think you said something about being a mega Disney fan, though I could be wrong. :P: )
Title: Ask ze boss something.
Post by: Petrie. on August 13, 2009, 10:32:05 AM
Yes, I am a mega-Disney fan.  Favorites are tough because if you're a mega-fan, you kind of like them all if you get what I mean. ;)  It wouldn't be easy to pick one over the other.  I really have liked Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, and Bambi.  Its too tough to call...I probably wouldn't refuse to sit down and watch any Disney movie you gave me.

The Stitch gif I found on a Disney board. I've found other good Disney ones that way.

Quote
When was the longest time you've ever went without sleep and why did you do it?

Longest amount would have to be about six years ago...I went about thirty hours without sleep because I worked the closing shift at a bowling alley on Friday night to Saturday morning.  The shift went from 6pm to 2am but sometimes you didn't get out until 3am depending on how much cleaning up needed to be done.  I remember getting home by 3:30 in the morning, and just decided to screw sleeping and stayed up and watched Finding Nemo.

Quote
What annoys you the most?

Mmmm...lots of things annoy me. :p  People who don't use common sense is probably my biggest pet peeve.  Many times I'm just going "Well DUH people!" as if some had half a brain and didn't know how to use the half they had.  (Yeah, that kind of sounds super mean, but I have my Dr. House moments. :p ).

Oh yes, I'm not one of those hermits that don't go ten miles from their home. :p  Been to Canada (Ontario and Quebec), Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, DC, Florida, and California.

Quote
What's the worst restaurant you've ever been to and what did you order?

Oddly enough I can't think of one.  I don't think I've ever been to a place where it was so horribly bad from start to finish I'd never return to it.  Worst meal I can remember was one time at Denny's when the food was brought out luke-warm (:yuck) but other than that, the worst I've had happen at any place is long waits.

No, I don't usually sleep for that long.  I have fallen asleep at about 9pm and woke up about 12:30 and wondering what time it was and why the TV was on. :p

Quote
Do you like fair rides? If not, did you ever used to?

I used to.  I don't ride them anymore because I have motion-sickness issues.  It doesn't happen all the time, but the more "jerky" a driver is, and I'm a passenger, the worse off I am, doesn't matter where I sit in the car.  So, no, I'm not a ride person.  About the only exception to this rule is Space Mountain at WDW...I did this ride in '03 without any trouble, and its largely because you can see anything. :p

I'll listen to almost anything at least once, but the bulk of my cd collection is soundtracks to films.  Most of this material is orchestral score, but not always.  I'm a picky consumer, and I've been patient to wait for what I want considering some items I have are not cheap by any means because of their rarity or the fact they've been OOP so long.

That's not funny...I almost spit coffee all over the computer. :lol  Dinner huh...tri-colored rotini with a tomato basil sauce, garden salad with creamy italian dressing, and peach iced tea.  Luckily I made it before the storms came through causing brownouts throughtout the evening...and that wouldn't work with an electric stove.

How about travelling? Have you seen many other places of the world? If not, where would you like to visit if you have the choice?

Not many.  I've been to Canada a couple of times.  Within the US, I've been to Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, NYC, DC, Florida, Pennsylvania, and California.  If I had the choice, I'd want to go to Alaska...just seems like a pristine place where you can be away from civilization for a bit.

Quote
What did you do for your birthday? ^^ And did you get anything?

I didn't go into work to plan anything! :p  I went to walk at one of our local trails (free for the community).  I went to sharpen up my bowling skills a little bit.  Not much else, but I loved having the day where I didn't have to worry about a lot.  I didn't get much, but I don't expect much as I can easily get whatever it is I choose, want, or need.  That $150.00 is slowly being spent on movies, music, and books. :D

Quote
Who would you say is your favourite character in the Land Before Time and why?

A username like mine and you had to ask that? :lol  Petrie because he shows (in the original film anyway) that he has to learn to grow and I follow the same philosophy.  I can't become any better as a person or a professional if I don't learn things to help me grow in both directions.

Quote

Nothing.  Apparently they made some bad business decisions and closing is the consequence of such.

Redwall counts, despite the fact its overly repetitive and you're pretty much aware of how the story will go and end by Chapter 2 once you've seen the main protagonist and antagonist.  I haven't read a new Redwall book in ages, but I do like the older ones, despite the Brian Jacques formula.

I'm also quite fond of Dinotopia (books and the tv stuff) and I Love Lucy. :)  Who doesn't? :p

And, who is your least favorite character in LBT?

Thicknose!  Can't believe somebody asked Robert Guilliame to sing (even though he was ok as Rafiki) but it just did NOT work for him in LBT.  He'll always be my #1 despised character for that reason alone.

This might be an odd question, but do you believe in the term "guilty pleasure" as in having "LBT as a guilty pleasure" due to certain circumstances of what seems to be socially acceptable in society, or do you kick out the labels and just like what you like even if other people would call them guilty pleasures?

^ Now that's a peculiar question.  I would answer to watch what you want, and enjoy every moment of it.  Its up to you to disclose or not what it is you're viewing, LBT or otherwise.  I don't see films as "guilty pleasures".  I think of things like chocolate as guilty pleasures because I typically don't eat much of it.  Even pizza can be a guilty pleasure for me come to think of it.

Any idea when voting for this year's member awards will begin? I noticed that, last year, we began in early May, but it's currently the middle of May and I've not heard any announcements regarding this year's member awards.

Forum question (sorry): If you have an artistic GOF member who does LBT fanart, but also makes a lot of non-LBT artwork, is it preferable that that artist posts his or her LBT art and non-LBT art in separate threads (in the LBT Fanart and Visual Art sections, respectively), or is there no problem with that artist posting all of his or her work in the Fanart and Fanfiction section, where it is more likely to be seen and commented on?

(Guess who’s thinking of starting an art thread. :p)

LBT fanart in the LBT fanart section.  Anything else in the Visual Arts section. ;)  Two totally different things.

From what I remember from your other posts, you said you were raised Catholic. (Funny enough, so was I. :yes ) So I'm just wondering, and it's okay if you don't want to answer this question:

What's your opinion on religion as a whole? Or I guess to explain it a bit more, do you think religion is essential to human beings? Or is it something that you think doesn't necessarily needs to be around in life? It's just a security thing for human beings?
Title: Ask ze boss something.
Post by: Petrie. on August 26, 2010, 07:28:57 AM
Religion is private thing you have with your God(s).  In the end it is your soul at stake and it matters not what you have or have not done to get your fellow man to see the light.  You and you alone.  So, religion is a private matter and bringing religion into things like politics should be avoided.

Alrighty..

How did you stumble on Watership Down? What do you like most about it? Which version did you prefer: Novel, Movie or TV Series?

Sorry, three questions.. :(
Title: Ask ze boss something.
Post by: Petrie. on September 15, 2010, 08:49:49 PM
Didn't even notice this.  Sorry.

1.)  Don't remember how I "stumbled on" WD.  Must've read somewhere that WD was an animal lovers book and picked it up.

2.)  Everything just kind of blends anymore...I'm not as interested in it as I once was.  I believe I liked it then because it was a story of honesty and courage and you got little tidbits of rabbit life. :p

3.)  Novel over everything...I'm a bookworm. :p  Movie then TV series.  If you seen my reviews, you know I'm not a fan of season 2 on that tv series.

Since you are a computer wiz (not to mention the founder of GOF) I, as a web designer in-training was wondering something. I know how to publish my own web page since it comes from my server but how do you publish a page for a customer? Someone walked up to me and asked if I could make and publish a page for them but I'm not sure how.

Would MSN be a good choice to host it, too?
Title: Ask ze boss something.
Post by: Petrie. on October 12, 2010, 09:35:13 PM
I don't know anything about MSN.  I used to dapple in web code, but I haven't the time for it anymore.  Right now, I've only current experience with google's webpage service (and have three sites with them).  I've had no issues with the google service.  Its good for free. :) :)  I'm not sure what your customer needs, but that might be more than enough, depending on what you need to do.

Austin (landbeforetimelover) knows more about webdesign than I ever will.  He might be worth contacting if I didn't help you.

Is bowling your only sport, or have you tried others?
Title: Ask ze boss something.
Post by: Petrie. on October 23, 2010, 07:08:05 AM
The only one now.  I used to do soccer, tennis, and a bit of golf as well.  I quit soccer after the freak accident that eventually ended me in a hospital for eye surgery so I didn't go blind in one eye.  Bad luck there, but I haven't done it since.  Tennis, I think because of the vision problems I was never very accurate, so it didn't make sense to continue.  Same issue with golf...accuracy has been an issue.  Plus I'd lose the ball once I hit it. :p  When you only have 20/40 with corrective lenses, you tend to not see a lot of things in the distance, including a golf ball.

Better late than never. :p

I've grown to like it, at the expense of eating out.  KFC gives out "signature sauce" with its strip meal and I kind of like that.  Its kind of like a sweet hickory flavor.  They've given me extras before and I stock up on them at home. :p  I'm thinking they would go good with turkey or chicken sandwiches as well.

Not really.  I have no game systems.  But realistically, I don't want to play games, and I don't have time to.  If you think teachers have nothing to do after 3pm guess again. :p  If I'm at my parents, I might put on the Wii for a bit, but not regularly.

Any summer plans.....nothing finalized for sure.  I'd like to do a camping trip as soon as school lets out near the end of June, but nothing definite there.  My sisters and I have talked about going down to Walt Disney World in August, but we haven't been talking much about it.  I'd be the primary financier so soon we're going to have to make a decision.
