OMG, didn't think you'd ever join the GoF, welcome aboard! :D

If you don't recognize me, I'm TheEvilHadrosaur on DeviantArt and pretty inactive both here and there lol.

Rhombus has made several commissions for his story over the years. Considering a few of those have recently been posted, I do believe it is still sort of an ongoing project.

And derp, did I really say I'd participate 7 years ago in spite of my mediocre skills?  :duckyOK  :bolt

You guys must be living in the stone age if you're seeing ads on YouTube  :duckyOK

There are so many adblockers that work astonishingly accurate and I fail to see why anyone could possibly not use them  :bolt

Edit: oh and there are well-functioning mobile browsers that have an integrated adblocker. Just look around at your respective app store and you'll surely find something to use  :^^spike

19 months later  :bolt

So, just if anyone is curious, I never did finish the drawing above and I definitely won't ever do so.

However *drumroll plz* I wouldn't be posting here if I didn't have at least something cruddy to show off  :bestsharptooth

This is an entry for the current prompt challenge "Epic Fail"! I had so many ideas lol. Rhett getting what he deserves, Littlefoot hitting his head while he's observing Ali, Sucky having a Sucky day... so many possibilities  :ChomperPOG

My lack of skill and the severe lack of time to work on anything creative led me to choose something that's been featured in the movies and quite easy to draw. Thus "When a spiketail sleeps on you" was born  :^^spike

I do admit I've been more lazy than I should have been with this drawing but time is money as they say and I'm happy with what I managed to whip up in around 5-6 hrs. If anyone is interested, this is how the drawing came to life:

1. I chose a particularly good expression from the screencaps on animationscreencaps.com
2. I traced over it with the pencil tool  :bolt
3. I used an ink brush with medium amount of smoothing to create somewhat good-looking lineart (there are a few spots where you can sorta see when a new line starts because I didn't clean every tiny speck up, just the major stuff that was easy to spot)
4. I used digital oil paint  :lol And yes, I actually painted it. And eventually realized separate layers for each colour might have been smarter  :sduckyGive me some credit for not using auto-fill, okay?  :bronGoodJob
5. I used auto-fill for the background because white didn't look too great. Also, I was too lazy to paint the background, okay?  :angel
6. Signature in sweet red oil paint  :ChomperImAwesome

All done in ArtRage light with my little Intuos Wacom tablet (I forgot which model I actually have, it was cheap anyway)

Will we see more art from Ducky? I have no idea honestly. If it happens, it happens (and will probably be anime-related rather than LBT art but you never know  :^^spike )

It's so good to see you do art again!  :MommaSmile

We all know you're really talented at drawing longnecks but dang Mr. Threehorn sure is looking great here, definitely a surprise there  ;)Cera Had a snicker or two when seeing the drawing, truly an epic fail  :SharptoothAmused

The animation! Finally! :lol

Gosh, it looks so great like... really close to movie quality if I dare say so. Thank you so so much for seeing this random project through to the very end!  :spikeblush

I've gotta say that each time you post pictures I feel like the style is slightly different but nonetheless consistently amazing. I love this type of painting style that doesn't even try to be realistic yet somehow ends up looking really realistic. Instead of trying to do smooth transitions, you just use a few different shades of the same colour to take into account the play of light and shadow. Really wonderful art, wish I could draw like you!  :duckyOK

You know, I don't really do art anymore but every once in a while I still feel like trying something (like for a prompt challenge  :^^spike). Doing things digitally is kinda easier than the traditional way and I've been looking for a reliable digital software for ages. Could you recommend Clip Studio Paint for a beginner like me? I think I once grabbed a demo version of it but ended up getting lost because I didn't really understand how most of its functions work. Might need a tutorial of sorts lol.  :sducky

My current tool of the trade is ArtRage which emulates the feeling of drawing traditionally quite well, however it's very limited in terms of functionality.

Eww Rhett can die :ShortyDisgusted

Nice OCs guys, both artistically and backstory-wise. Do you happen to have any stories written about them?  :duckyhappy

I might actually join this one, I have at least half a dozen ideas. One of them is hopefully within my range of possibilities both skill- and time wise.

I was going to say, I know this guy when I saw that you registered here. I'm not really active on DA (TheEvilHadrosaur) nor here anymore but it's nice to see you're still drawing amazing artworks! Looks really nice, especially the way you're using light to portrait this wonderful scene.

1000 ways for Rhett to bite the dust. Should probably mention that it was an April's Fools thingy but still...

Our discord server is a great place to get to know people better.

Be careful though, instant messaging services are a lot different from the forum itself, people show faces they don't show on the forum etc.

Speaking from experience.

You've gotta take a closer look to tell it's a redraw rather than the real thing.

Really impressive, Jassy!

Thoughts, stories and a canyon:

In light of the current character showcase (the useless sharptooth from LBT 6) I do appreciate the shout out in the discussion between Littlefoot and the grandparents in this scene considering the events of that film. :)  Additionally it was interesting to see Littlefoot's thoughts as he goes on his (almost) lonely journey in the Mysterious Beyond.  It is understandable that he thinks about those who live like this everyday, such as Pterano and Doc, and wonder how they do it.  With an extrovert like Littlefoot it must be a disturbing thought.

In any case, this chapter sets up a nice contrast between the far-walker protagonists (Bron, Ali, and Ali's mother).  This showcases the collision of perspectives that is about to occur.

I look forward to seeing what happens next.
@rhombus
I do appreciate the review even though the chapter didn't make its way here due to... circumstances. Really cool that you left a review regardless  :littlefoot:)

Now, as y'all know, my days on this forum are counted. I have no intention (or time, really) to stick around but there's still stuff keeping me here. Every once in a while, I actually regret that my writing is suffering from my retirement from this fandom but even more so from my real life situation. I've been working full-time for half a year now and since my work place isn't exactly around the corner, I'm away from home for about 12 hours a day. Not exactly good for creative writing, right?

I hate leaving stuff unfinished which is pretty much the only reason you'll see the odd update every once in a while. Not because I still want to write for this community but because I want to see this story finished one day. Doesn't matter how long that takes. It will happen. Because I only write for myself now and need not worry about meeting anyone's expectation's but my own.

I'm on a rare spree of motivation right now with a vacation coming up in may. Looks like that might amount to a few chapters. You'll have to head over to ff.net though, doing the formatting here ain't worth my precious time, you know?

-

A'right, now to business. Chapter 16 has a received a few upgrades since I posted it last year. I'll update it on ff.net and add the link once it's done. 17 & 18 are ready to release anytime now. Everything else depends on how much stuff I can get done during my time off work. I'm also working on a few key scenes further down in the future of the story though so don't get your hopes too high. If it happens, good for you, I guess? If it doesn't, well, no one here would probably complain  :taunttroll

PS: Don't ask about other stories, I'll work on those if I feel like it.
