Title: LBT Marathon
Post by: UnionRags123 on October 18, 2019, 11:45:43 PM
So...after someone on discord mentioned doing a Land Before Time movie marathon...I decided to do one too. Or at least try  :lol

Who all has tried?
How many movies did you make it through?
What did you think of attempting to marathon the LBT movies?
How did you feel after the attempt?
Has anyone attempted to marathon the TV series?
If so, how many episodes did you last through?

I’m currently (as of this post) approximately 10 minutes into LBT VI: The Secret of Saurus Rock. However, it’s almost midnight...so I don’t know how many more movies I’ll make it through  :lol

In my current situation, I would most likely never be able to watch all of the movies in a LBT marathon just due to the sheer fact that I get so much homework everyday and I rarely get a break. Oh, and read my signature. :P

Come on, UnionRags123! Utilize your inner midnight brain power and watch all the movies! :lol

Depends. Does it count as a Marathon when I have to take work/sleep-breaks? (curse lively needs like money and sleep XD)

I mean...I’d count it as a marathon even if you take sleep/work breaks...but depending on how many breaks and for how long...
Like if it takes a week to watch all the movies I would be less likely to count it as a marathon than if it took 3 days...

I’m currently just over 1/3 of the way through VII  :lol (it’s 1:50 am for me at the time of this post)

It’s 4:32 am in my time zone :opetrie

I kinda did one over a period of a couple of days. I made through the end of VIII before I partially lost hearing in my right ear due to wearing headphones all day long, so I resumed a few days later once my hearing was back to normal and made it all the way to the end of XIV.

I'm not sure if I'd be able to watch all 14 movies in one sitting, though ...

As a couple of the others have said above, I guess it depends on how you'd define a marathon. I typically won't watch more than two movies a day, and even that is quite rare for me. Or else if I'm watching a TV series, I usually don't do more than two-to-four episodes a day. There have been times when I've watched, say, all the Harry Potter or Hobbit movies in short succession, but it's usually no more than one film a day or every other day.

When I was watching all the LBT films for the first time as an adult, I just did an average of one film every few or several days. Watching a whole bunch of them in a single day does sound kinda fun, but I think I'd also find it exhausting.

YAY FINALLY FINISHED!!!

As for why I thought this was a good idea...I have no idea   :lol

Anyways...I’ve finished my LBT movie marathon...took roughly 26 hours from the start of the original to the end of XIV

Now I feel really weird  :lol

I bet it was one of your Midnight Ideas. :p

You feel really weird because your eyes are starting to readjust to your surroundings after staring at a bright screen for 26 hours emitting blue ultraviolet light. It really does a number on ya, does it?

LBT TV series marathon next? With 26 episodes and 23 minutes per episode, it should only take...598 minutes, or roughly ~10 hours of watching. No biggie, right? :lol

It was actually a 5 pm idea  :lol

It wasn’t 26 hours of movie watching - the total movie watch time was about 17 1/2 hours I think (I didn’t watch the end credits)

And over winter break I’m planning on marathoning the movies again - but all in a row instead of 8 movies—>sleep—>2 movies—>Cards Against Humanity—>4 movies

Winter Break Movie Marathon will be followed by a LBT TV series marathon...perhaps the next day? :lol

Have you ever thought of buying the complete DVD set of LBT? It’s one entire DVD box with 8 discs, containing all of the movies and its sequels basically. You can find it online on websites such as Amazon, and probably you can find it in stores too.

Ohhhhh, if only my old VHS players worked again (and I had the VHS for LBT III). Then the prospect of an LBT marathon would've been an easy challenge for me to take.

Maybe I'll try and look for one of those multiple-films-in-one-DVD editions at my local library, but I'd imagine they'd be so scratched up by previous renters that my DVD player will have a hard time playing them.

If I still owned a DVD/Blu-ray player thay would be ideal. What I would prefer is all 14 films digitally downloaded, so I could marathon them wherever I am.

For all marathoners, you can buy LBT films (a piece) digitally for:
9.99 USD
or rent each film for
3.99 USD

Buy all 14 films digitally for 139.86 USD
Rent all 14 films digitally for 55.86 USD

If you buy LBT films they will be stored in your digital movie purchases and you can watch them via the Amazon  Prime Video App on Smart-TVs, Smartphones, Tabelets, and Computers.

I am gonna start re-collecting by getting my favs.

The best way that I've found to watch these films, is by using a program called Popcorn Time. I'm not certain, but I believe they have every film available for users to watch. But if you're planning to test this program out, I recommend you use VPN while watching. I don't know how accurate this is due to the recent deletion of numerous YouTube videos, but there may be a chance for you to watch the movies there as well. Wouldn't hurt to check, at the very least.

I can definitely see the appeal of buying them digitally, as they can essentially be watched whenever and anywhere you want to, and without the restriction of having to use a DVD player too. Although, the main reason I bought the 14 DVD collection without hesitation was because on Amazon on that particular day, it was 72% off and only costed $16.99. What a bargain, that was! :D
Also, $139.86 is a pretty expensive investment in my opinion, so buying a few at a time does seem like a logical choice if you’re someone who really wants all the movies digitally.

I wonder if the episodes that were lackluster woukd be better in a binge watch? I’ve noticed a series is vastly different in feel if yoy have to wait and watch each episode oppose to watching em all back to back. :)

Hmm, that's a pretty good point. I usually have to readjust to the feel of a TV show after being away from it for a while. I suppose I'll have to give a binge-watch a shot sometime! It isn't like the series is that long, anyway.

I once binge-watched all 13 movies at the time long before the 14th movie existed.

I am thinking of doing it again, this time with the 14th in the sequence.

Luckily because they are numbered except for Journey of the Brave anybody with 1-13 can easily identify them with the running order chronologically.

I've seen most of the LBT movies pretty recently, but I've been considering a TV series marathon. The only thing stopping me is that there are certain episodes I could probably go without watching ever again, haha. :p Guess I should probably give them another chance, though...it's been years since I saw them.

Let me know when you intend to binge watch, because I plan to binge watch the series, and would love to discuss the episodes.

Cool, I'll let you know when I get started! :smile Maybe we can make a thread in the TV series section and write our reviews?

Sounds like a good idea to me. :)
