General Land Before Time / Why does everyone hate "Good Inside"?
« on: April 10, 2012, 10:34:23 PM »
I agree with what CT said.  I think that there is the potential to be both good and bad in every person, and the decisions people make determine whether we see them as good or bad.

Though I think we might be treading dangerous waters on this topic.

About the song, I don't really care for it, but I don't hate it.  Usually I only judge songs based on their melody because I don't really listen to the lyrics that much.

That birthday party sounds fun!  :D

Welcome to the GOF, by the way  :wave  Everyone's already told about the LBT Glossary topic, so I don't really have anything of substance to say, except I hope you stick around for a while and if you have any questions about anything feel free to ask!

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / are you happy with the TV series?
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:52:43 PM »
I feel kinda meh about the series.

On the one hand, the first thing I said to myself when I saw the show at first was "It's about time!" I can't believe how long it took Universal to make a series based on one of their most popular franchises.

However, on the other hand I thought that the animation was terrible.  I know that the budget for the show wasn't a whole lot, but I thought that at least it would look the same as the sequels because they were churning them out every year or so (And I think the animation in the sequels is very "TV style" anyway).  I didn't think it was possible that the show could look worse than that.  Also since I am a budding animator the flaws just jump out at me.

I am mostly unhappy that Universal turned The Land Before Time even more into a preschool franchise, and that they reused songs from the sequels, but there are many, many things I could nitpick on that bother me (Littlefoot has a shoebox for a head, Chomper looks kinda like he needs to wear a bra :o , the fact that they used 3D models when the characters run). . .

But,

I can't really say that the show "sucked".  I guess I like the characters too much to completely dislike the show.  And I am probably the only person who likes the opening theme song.

Wow this post is long!
(Also, I . . . kind of like the songs from PB&J Otter  <_< )

General Land Before Time / Song or no songs?
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:08:55 PM »
I really think that the sequels should've had only one or two songs each.  I don't mind if there are a couple of songs in a movie, but if there are so many I'm afraid that it might, um, "cheapen" them.

What I mean by that is, that if there are a ton of songs in one movie, you don't really get to pay attention to them on their own.  But if there are only a couple (that are widely spaced apart) you can kind of "savor" the songs and appreciate them.  Think of how many of us remember "If We Hold On Together" from the original movie, and it's the only actual song in it!

I don't mean to offend those who like all of the songs, but I could probably count on one hand the songs that I liked from the sequels.   :bolt

General Land Before Time / Juvenile Colorations?
« on: April 04, 2012, 10:48:06 PM »
I always thought that the gang's colorations were kind of a combination of juvenile color patterns and their own unique colors.
As in, when Cera got older for instance, she would get darker like her dad but still have a tinge of that yellow/orange.  So maybe Mr. Threehorn was a very light gray when he was a hatchling?

Starting with movie 5 I thought the gang was getting older, and definately noticed it by movie 7.  It probably would have made sense to make them look older too, but most franchises I've seen have an aversion to ageing their characters.

I also always thought that Chomper was blue!  :p

Thank you two too!  :lol

Didn't the movies get a new director or something starting with 5?  It could be that he wanted Petrie's voice to be higher to make him sound more like a little kid, but I'm not sure.  I personally liked Petrie's voice when it was deeper.

As for Ducky, I think her voice got deeper because she was getting older and they didn't want to get another actor to voice her.

1988 Theatrical Release / Most heart-wrenching moment?
« on: April 02, 2012, 11:51:12 AM »
There are many moments that were sad, but I voted for the scenes where Littlefoot was crying over his mother's death.  Especially the scene with Rooter. :cry
When I was a kid I could make it through the Sharptooth attack and when his mother actually dies, but I completely lost it when Littlefoot started to cry! :crazy As a matter of fact, I still can't make it through that part without getting misty-eyed.

General Land Before Time / Do U like Rinkus? :)
« on: March 30, 2012, 10:51:52 PM »
It's kinda funny, when I first heard Rinkus speak I thought "What! Pinky? Is that you?! :spit
I did think he was funny, but I like all of the flyer trio (Sierra in particular) and personally I'm glad that he isn't exactly like Strut because I think that each character should be somewhat unique.

General Land Before Time / cutest character
« on: March 30, 2012, 10:16:57 PM »
This was a tough one for me; I had to decide between Cera and Ducky, and in the end I went with Ducky.

While I think that Cera has the cutest character design, Ducky seems to be the cutest in the way she acts.  She just cares so much about everyone :D

Thank you all again :D I'm really interested in hand-drawn animation, particularly the other films that Don Bluth has made.
I also like to draw (mostly animals and people), sew, watch animated movies, and read.
It still feels a little weird to have lurked for so long, but the main reason was that I was in school and just didn't have time to join.  Now that I've graduated I can!
(I also really like these dino faces  :DD )

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I guess the sequels I like the best are 2,3,4, and 7 but the 4th one is my favorite of them.  As for characters, Littlefoot, Cera, and Petrie are my favorites but I really like the way all of the characters work as a group.

Hi everyone!  I'm FreckledOne, but you can call me Ren (or hey you, if you want :lol ).  I have been lurking around this forum for almost a year but I have only just now decided to join.  I really like the atmosphere of this place :)
The Land Before Time is one of my favorite movies and I like to read what everyone has to say about it.
If there are any things you want to ask me I'll try my best to answer!
