:D Hey LBT Fans! I joined this site because I need support for a letter to Universal Studios about a 14th movie that is going to seriously be considered! If I'm able to use your names as signatures and support in this letter, the more likely Universal Studios will consider the proposition! Or, if you wish, you could write your own letter to them, also! Please post if you want to support this and I'll sign your name or username on the letter I send, with your permission of course. Or, let me know of you could write your own letter to Universal Studios, too! That would be great!

Petitions for making the 14th movie have been made before and nothing came out of them. Why would it be different this time? How do you know this time it's going to be seriously considered?

I understand. My Uncle is in production and has worked with Roy Smith, Director of the 4th LBT land of the mists. I just got back from Visiting him over spring break where we discussed him contacting Roy if I can get enough support...worth a shot to me. I'm gonna send a letter with or without support anyway, but I understand why you are skeptical.

Best move is to boycott their projects. Either they'll go under or continue the last good thing they had going for them.
And for future reference, this is the birthdays/stardays section. Something like this belongs under the LBT sections. BTW, welcome to the GOF :wave!
I'd love to see LBT continue, but if we can't even get those trashy Kardashians off TV, well...good luck with this one I'm sorry to say :neutral.

You can have my support for a 14th movie if the quality is near the quality of the first 4 sequels and far away from the last several. This is impossible because today's young audience loves screaming children shows. Good luck anyway!

For anyone concerned with the quality of the movie, the letter sent to Universal studios and the requests expressed to Roy Smith would be to expand on the 4th movie Land of the Mists. They never created another movie involving Littlefoots friend Ally, as they said they would. Conveniently, Roy was the director of the 4th movie, and close w/ my Uncle, in production, and is able to lobby for us.

To sign the handwritten letter, simply sign with a pen on a piece of paper and send it to the address I give you. (I will give it on this site if I receive enough support.

As much as I would like to see one. It kinda seems unlikely. though if one is made it better not be anything like the last few ones. *stares at lbt 13* and it better especially not be anything like that!

Totally agree, raptor. Roy is the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th movie director. The 14th would lean toward those movies.

Great! My Uncle told me that the letter needs to be a small-average size, or Universal apparently just throws it out if too long. So I'm working on the letters right now and am going to keep them short and to the point. When finished, I will definitely post a copy or copies (If I make multiple) onto this forum!

They don't want to make a 14th movie because they knew Movie 13 was gonna destroy the series for good. But they made it any how and it bombed and no more Land Before Time Movies. So making a petition is gonna be very pointless since it has failed already.

While I believe it to be very unlikely that there would be a 14th LBT movie there is no harm in hoping and not in promoting even the tiniest of chances with such a petition. Is it likely to achieve the making of another movie? No. Is it likely to cause any harm whatsoever in the proces? Certainly not.
If there is such a petition brought up I am quite willing to sign it. Not hoping for much, but not seeing anything negative about signing it either.

With all the frustration you may have about the 13th movie (which I agree was very bad), I do not see the reason behind any assumption of intentional messing it up. I think I read somewhere (and don't quote me on it because I don't know how reliable the source was) that LBT 13 was the first of the movies to be in the red financially. The assumption of people intentionally making a movie bad to loose some money for the heck of it (or which other motives would there be for such a move?) is ridiculous.
What I think is a main problem about the making of further LBT movies is the lack of plot ideas that are not mere repetitions of what has been there before. Many people are ready to blame universals for bad movies or the TV series, but hardly anyone would be willing to come up with a plot that one could turn into a movie not in conflict with LBT as we know it from the earlier movies. It is one of the things that I am acknowledging the TV series for, that they came up with quite a number of plots that, although they were not sufficiently long to suffice for a full length movie, were for the most part not in conflict with LBT from the sequels.

I highly doubt Universal knew that LBT13 was going to be a failure. If they did, they wouldn't have made it. In truth, nobody knows how a movie will do until it's released. If it's a failure, than it's a failure. If it's a success, then it's a success. Nobody can predict the future. Universal did not make LBT13 with the intent of "destroying LBT forever". They made it with the intent on making more money. They would not have known how poorly it would have done in sales. For all they knew, it would have been a success at least among children, who were their target audience anyway.
Now you could say that Universal won't make an LBT14 because of the commercial failure of LBT13 (after it's release of course; again they're not psychics). That is likely possible, and a more reasonable explanation than simply saying that Universal knew beforehand that LBT13 would fail.

Ah yeah that is true that they didn't know if it was succeed or not. Boy it failed ten times over. The only good thing it had was the How Do You Know Song in it. That is one of my favorite's. And yeah the plot lines after the first have gotten pretty bad. I'm sure it was hard for them to come up with them. And in the 13th they said let's add some horrible annoying Yellow Belly Dinosaur's in and make the kids baby sitters. Horrible movie and I hope that one day we have a 14th but I know it won't happen.

I'd like it..if.. Pterano was to make..even a cameo appearance.. (he doesn't have to talk).. Just so we know that he's back in the valley and living with his dear nephew Petrie! :) ) *trulyfantasticme and I would both love a Pterano appearance* ;)
Actually, i'd love to see Pterano and/or Rinkus appear in the movie. "bushwacked" and I both love Rinkus...and his actor Rob Paulsen is still around in the cartoons today. ;)
(Just so you know... all of the flyer actors from "the stone of cold fire" are all still alive and still acting today... Jeff Bennett (petrie) Tress MacNeille (Petrie's mom) Michael York (Pterano), Rob Paulsen (Rinkus) , and Jim Cummings **who plays Flipperboidskua's favorite character** (Sierra)
Summary: I'd love to see a Pterano and/or Rinkus appearance, and more importantly... to see the movie well-written, like "Journey Through The Mists"...I have to agree, LBT4 was very well written and done..like most of the early LBT movies were.
*Flyer boy Jared has his claws crossed VERY HARD for a Pterano or Rinkus appearance if there will be an LBT 14.
If an LBT 14 is to be made.... and if Pterano or Rinkus appear in LBT 14, I will be very happy! :D I LOVE Pterano and Rinkus! :D

Jrd89, that would be really cool. Petrie's Uncle Pterano always seemed so mystifying to me, and I'd luv to see him included in a future movie when he's back from his banishment.

Hm...the likely outcome of this petition is remarkably slim. The fact that the decline of plots (like a few others have said) made the movies downgrade from the others will definitely spark a low interest in possibly making one. (in my opinion). However, due to my passion for the movies and my love for the series all together, you have my support. Good Luck.

My god I would be so happy if there did make a LBT 14. But the outcome of that is so small. Anyway I wish you luck and I hope it does happen one day. It might be the boost that the Land Before Time Movie Series needs. :DD

Dear Universal Animation Studios,
You've created many classic series adored by people all over the globe. To be short and to the point, I and much of the rest of the world would be very excited to see a resurgence of the "Land Before Time" movie series, and we encourage you to do so! The "Land Before Time" is a wonderful series beloved by children and adults alike! The all-age movies teach essential lessons to kids. They are needed in this culture that has turned to inappropriate entertainment, sending today's "young ones" the wrong messages. I and others sincerely hope that you will consider and converse on the idea of adding one or more films onto the "Land Before Time" series.
In the rest of the petition I will give suggestions on what the new movie should be like. I will post that when I am finished. This part has been edited and revised by several people. Still, any suggestions, questions, or comments?

You may want to be careful though about not making it sound too prescriptive. Actually I'm not sure if clearer reference to the contents of a future LBT movie should be made at all. It might also keep people from signing the petition if their ideas of what a future movie ought to be like would not correspond with yours.
I'm also not a 100% certain about two formulations in the text. The formulation "I and much of the rest of the world would be very excited to see a resurgence of the "Land Before Time" movie series" may be taken up as exaggerated thus harming the credence given to the letter. Perhaps something along the lines of "there is a very large and active fandom for the land before time" or "there is a very high number of land before time fans" might sound a bit more objective to them.
The other line which might cause unwanted reactions is "They are needed in this culture that has turned to inappropriate entertainment, sending today's "young ones" the wrong messages." It might be better to keep a somewhat generalizing criticism of the media (part of which is done by Universals) out of this letter.
Harsh as it may sound, but those in a position to determine whether or not there would be further land before time movies are more likely to be interested in whether or not there is a market for the movies rather than in teaching messages to the kid (that more likely than not would be the concern of those actually making the movie rather than those who are in the position to decide whether or not the production of a movie will be funded or not).

Yes, I too thought that the "world" sentence was over stretching a bit. For the second half, I'm not giving them descriptive suggestions, just things like " Maybe you could incorporate Ally the long neck from the 4th movie, who was supposed 2 be seen again but never was." Stuff along those lines.
Yes, I have advertised this elsewhere, some websites and fan clubs similar to this. But I have received the most support from the community I live in. Multiple video store managers are signing and places like the libraries...

Those who make the decisions about money may not even know who Ali is. Moreover it might be misread as a kind of reproachful along the lines of "you promised but didn't deliver" when in fact Ali did return in the TV series (even though her return didn't impress many viewers here). Just suggesting, but I suppose it would be better not to refer to the content of the movies at all.

Malte279: I did know that she appeared in the TV series, but barely anyone saw that series or enjoyed it. It was a very lame return. I'm considering not making a second half to the letter because of suggestions not being needed for a new movie. Should I send it how it is in your opinion?

I seriously don't think that any personal input on the content or the cast or anything would be a good idea in a petition. It could put of both, the receivers of the petition ("Are they telling us how to do our jobt?!") as well as potential signers ("I'd like to see another LBT movie, but I don't like the specifications they are giving in this petition.")

However, perhaps you can also ask not just 'when is the next movie coming out' bust also 'how would you see this coming to be'

Err... as flattering as that is, I seriously doubt anything shoehorned into the LBT universe from BOSE would ever get a green light. Far too disjointed and irrelevant to be worked into an LBT plot. It's a fanfic for a reason and I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt it will ever become anything more than that.

I feel as thought that sounds like more of a FanFiction rather than a movie itself. You need to have a consistent plot that corresponds to the other films. I don't ever recall the Dino squad ever appearing the Great Valley. I love that idea, though.

Universal wouldn't create a crossover movie of LBT with Dino Squad.

I think you have better luck asking for a bluray anniversary release with donbluth extras. It's sad that he said he would have gladly helped with it and give some extra clips and other stuff for the 2003 release but they didn't even ask him, just slapped some kid stuff on it.

Well, it might be a bit much, but Universal could also try a relaunch of the series, but with all of the sequels, that probably won't happen.
I personally think they should do what Star Trek: The Original Series did: take the original and throw in some modern effects and crisper animation, then offer it alongside the original version as a special edition.

While this does seem like a great cause for big fans of the series, there's just one problem; their animation studio has been closed down for years.
Not only that, but this sequel will have to make up for their last one, which even had parents complaining about buying it for their kids.
I'm not really going to get my hopes too high on this, but I'm not saying that anyone supporting this shouldn't.

I say we should just forget the sequels and ask it be rebooted, starting from the beginning, as a series with a Lauren Faust at the helm.
