Ophion walked down the streets of Minthebec, one of the largest cities in his land. He had just left the palace of the king, hoping the find a job at the palace. While he already owned a shop, his magical skills were being underutilized, in his opinion. The wizard knew that his power was far inferior to that of the court mages, but he had believed that he could fill a job to teach the king's seventh son about the basics of magic... a task which hardly seemed worth the time of the powerful mages already present... turns out he was wrong.

Not far from the palace was the great market of the city, and it seemed like all the world had come there to buy and sell a wide multitude of items... and not far from that, Ophion could see the tall marble and granite towers of the rich merchants and bankers who profited from this trade.

Laddy minna looked out over the raparts of her cAstle,. Technically it was her fathers, since females couldn't own property, but she live d in it and ran it like it was hers
.minna was nineteen, and unmarried. her father was a high-ranking noble at the kings court, although in terms of power and prestige he wasn't in the highest ranks.. yet..

Ophion continued to walk through the city, passing from the paved roads of the marketplace to the cobblestone streets of a more... common neighborhood. The main street of Minthebec was wide and smooth, and was literally fit for a king to traverse across with his retinue... but Ophion's house was along a less... prestigious path. Literally.

Not far from where Ophion was, a new soul wandered the streets of the city.  He had only arrived from the desert waste shortly before noon, be he showed no signs of fatigue.  Many dracons gave second glances at him and any of the guards that passed him eyed him suspiciously.  His silhouette underneath his flowing ragged clothes show that he's no dracon, but simple hints and features reveal he's no simple human, either.  Even the fact that his coat flapped about to a wind that no one else can feel.

He paid no heed to the stares as he continued on, his beautifully crafted staff gently rapping against the street as he walked...

The Dracon mage stopped for a moment. Although Ophion was powerful, even he couldn't help but be awed by the sight of his city from the hill he was on... one of the highest in the city... it seemed as if it was a jewel indeed... but he knew of the poverty it held within its recesses...

The temple Valeron entered was the Great Temple of Minthebec, an opulent temple to be sure. All major Dracon temples were full of mages, priests, dancers, priestesses, alchemists, craftsmen, and other workers... paladins were just one of many who served there.

Jake had recently awoken at the Acadamy where he had finished his training as a squire, Jake was a young human boy at the age of 16 training to be a knight. All he had to do now was walk through a Dracon City called Minthebec and travel 5 more kilometres until he arrived at a castle ruled by King Archibold. Jake had packed all of his things and farewelled his friends and he set off for the Dracon City on a white horse.

Inside the town square, a group of Fauxen youths stood, looking at the city.

"Wow..."  Akito, the oldest of the group said, awestruck.  His friend Touga nodded mutely, too dumbfounded to form any words.

"It's so...big..."  Juri, the older of the two females in the group added, jaw slack with amazement.  Utena, the other female nodded her agreement, her tail flicking back and forth...

"By my best estimations, this city would take us days to get around fully.  Miki, the youngest male said, looking around.

"Tch.  Whatever."  Kyuichi scoffed, sounding disinterested...

The group had come to study the Dracon culture as a part of their rite to become counted as adults in their tribe...

Canas sighed as he sat in his house.  Unlike most Dracon males, he remained clothed, simply because he was always expecting to have company, as he did things to help out others on a regular basis.  He looked over the book on his desk again, then shook his head and got up, heading outside...

Many races could be found in the largest cities in the Dracon lands. Traders and explorers came from far and wide, and adventurers have long regarded their lands as a good source for excitement... and loot.

Most inhabitants were Dracons, though. Each city was run by a king, and each king had many wives, countless children, a huge palace, and legions of soldiers. In addition, each city had fancy temples, thick walls, and dozens of palaces. This came at a great cost to the poor, however, who rarely benefited from all the wealth...

The clang of the sea bell woke Harly abruptly as the ferry smashed into the dock.  He blinked and looked up at the Captain, who was busy yelling at the crew for allowing his ship to hit the dock - Harly couldn't help but regard how idiotic he was.

Harly stretched and asked the stranger next to him, a Dracon who was only half-clothed, a question.

"You wouldn't happen to know where we are?"  The stranger pointed to a sign that said "Minthebec''.

"Hmm... an odd name for a city."

Harly jumped out onto the dock and into the portyards.  He was carrying pretty much everything he had with him. Upon reaching the road he shifted through the crowd and discovered he was completely lost.

Harly hailed the nearest patron of the street, who happened to be Dracon mage Ophion, and asked him,

"Say I don't suppose you know where I can find the inn? A man needs a place to rest."

"The nearest inn is down the street, two blocks south from here" Ophion replied. "No wait... there's a closer one about one block from here if you turn to the east and go down... oh. Never mind... there's one right... there" He said, pointing at a building parallel to the street they were standing on. "You probably don't want to go to that one if you are looking to rest... it is loud all day and all night... The first one I mentioned is probably the best for a human to visit."

Yes, the Dracons had many inns... far too many...

Passing by a group of young fauxens, even the stranger paused to look up at the marvel of the city.  Its spires reached up towards the azure skies, perhaps where the wind continues to blow in this time of day.

It won't be long before he must begin his prayers, so he heads off to find some locals of the city, his coat flapping still to an unfelt wind...

Meanwhile, not too far from Ophion, a female Dracon prepared food for dinner. This was Ausrescia, Ophion's wife. Few female Dracons were stay-at-homes, and she was no exception. "Ausie" helped her husband maintain the magic shop, did real work for herself, and had some skill in magic... as several would-be muggers had found out the hard way!

Jake rode through the harsh desert terrain and he stopped to give his horse and himself a drink of water. Once Jake had finished that Jake got back onto his horse Blazer and he continued to Ride. He had been riding for 1 hour now and he had reached a large city.....he got off of his horse and walked over to a large male Dracon.

"um......hello, is this the city Minthebec?" asked Jake

the Dracon nodded and continued along the street.

Jake got his horse and he walked through town looking for an inn that he could stay at. He noticed a human walk inside a building.

Jake saw a sign that related to it being an inn. "this will have to do..." said Jake as he tied up his horse. Jake walked over to the door and he opened it and went inside.

Ausrescia set the food to cooking... it would be some time before it was done... so she spent some time reading a book... literacy was rare for the Dracons... and that went for males and females alike... but Ophion's household was totally literate... even his kids knew how to read... the only problem was that most Dracon novels were of low quality... usually a piece of historical fiction authorized by the state to glorify the government <_< ... or a baudy "romance novel"   ;) ... or in this case, a story about a mythological heroes of their land.  :)

The Dracon handed Jake a translation book, and Jake finally understood what the Dracon was saying. The dracon was telling him that he was in room 7 and he could order room service if need be.

At the inn, a Dracon mage suggested to Jake that he should get a ring of tongues... a magical ring which was sold at moderate price at the city's main marketplace. The ring could give the wearer the ability to comprehend any foreign language... and since so many of them were made, the price was relatively low...

Meanwhile, Ophion was still in the streets of Minthebec...

Jake walked upstairs and walked down the inn hallway. He arrived at room number 7...

"this is it" said Jake as he unlocked the door and went inside. Jake put his things down and thought it was best to take the dracons advice to get the ring. Jake didn't usually like to take advice from another species but....he didn't want to accidently offend someone on the street without realizing it...
