"Alright! Finally some action! Er... that could have come out better." Cassia blushed after saying that, and she hoped that the double meaning of 'action' would not be apparent to the others, particularly in light of her attraction to Torvin. "Do you need any help, Torv?"

"Mammals... always holding themselves back" Alima thought.

"Yeah, I'd rather have it fixed before we leave tomorrow," Shiana replied.  "It's no use as a weapon if it doesn't work."

-----------

Meanwhile, two cloaked figures watched the outside of Ophion's home as they waited for something to happen...

"Then lets go while there's still time." Selene led the others out of the run-down part of Minbenthac and into the paved streets, past a residential neighborhood, and past a temple dedicated to the various dragon gods. Eventually, they came to a weapons shop.

In that same neighborhood, Aurescia sensed two people just standing and waiting outside of the store. Normally, she was used to people moving through the streets, so the presence of two figures just standing there stood out. She wouldn't have made a big deal about it if the two figures outside weren't emanating a kind of magical power...

Shiana, Halo, & Youri reached & entered the weapon shop...

----------

The creatures were too well wrapped to be recognized as any race, but one particular feature were their dead eyes...

Torvin shrugged. He knew full well what the double meaning was but he did not really care.

Torvin got out the metal tube. "I need someone to pour the molten Stygium into the tube while I hold it over the basin," he said.

The Strutho noticed that some customers were coming in. "I'll handle the customers," he said. He then exited the smithy.

(OOC: Sorry for not being here more often! My time on the GoF is rather more limited than what I would like.)

"Do you need any help, Torvin?" Cassia asked, doing her best to keep her focus on the task at hand, and not to think about such thoughts as she was prone to have around a stallion.

Meanwhile...

The weapon shop was filled with all sorts of armaments, as expected. What was not expected was that the shop also doubled as a smithy, where some of the weapons were being forged and sharpened. Dracons generally preferred to use edged weapons, such as swords and knives, and many daggers and blades were available.

The trio spread about the shop, examining all its wares.  Shiana had a look of slight disappointment on her face.  "This looks like they work only on metal-forged weapons," she said.

"There is rather little wood available in the desert," Halo replied.

"Well, what do you expect? Stone-tipped spears?" A voice came forth from the back of the shop. The smell of a forge hung in the air as a massive, red-skinned Dracon male came out of the back room, wearing a smith's apron, clutching a hammer in his hands. His red scales were covered in soot, and even his long, curved horns smelled of sulfur and ash. His golden eyes were almost the only part of his face not covered in residue from the smithy.

"My name's Sethlan. I work the forge out back. Can I get you anything?"

"Can you just fetch the crucible of Stygium that's heating inside the forge?" Torvin asked. He was holding the tube slightly above the basin.

"We weren't disregarding your metalwork, sir," Shiana said defensively.  "I was unsure whether or not you can do repairs with woodcraft.  I have a shortbow that has its strings in need of repair or replacement."  She pulled out her bow to show him...

----------

After a while of waiting, one of the cloaked figures finally approached the shop, and was only no more than a foot from the door when it stopped suddenly, as if some invisible shield barred its way.  Some magical force repelled this creature to the point it had to turn back to its comrade...

Cassia brought the metal over and set it down right next to Torvin. "Is this good? Do you need anything else to make that tube?"

Meanwhile...

Sethlan looked at the weapon. "It isn't my usual field of work, but a bow is a bow. I should be able to fix it."

Elsewhere in the city...

Aurescia was still inside her house, the kids were at school, as far as she knew, and her husband, well, she didn't know exactly where he was at this hour, but then again, the life of a mage was not conducive to predictability... or safety, for that matter! She knew of the potential danger outside, but decided not to let it get to her, as the house was warded against many kinds of powerful magic. She decided to relax and read a book, something she liked to do quite often.

Going to the shelves, the female dracon looked over the little 'library' of mundane texts. It was always a regret of hers' that her reading material mostly dealt with magic. So few books were on average, everyday subjects. There were tomes on cooking that she had read a dozen times before, on the matter of ancient legends, and stories of war, crime, and sport. Reaching over to a thick green book with a golden chariot on the front cover, she pulled the book out and lay on her stomach in the living room. This was one of her favorites.

(OOC: I have a new picture up. This one shows a Dracon female reading a book. Just a little bonus.)

Shiana handed the bow to Sethlan.  "The bow string wore out and it might need replacing," she said.

"I have some spare bowstrings in the back. Replacing it should be no problem." Sethlan left and returned a moment later with several bowstrings, of different make and material. "Just tell me which one you would like. I've got bowstrings made of linen, silk, hemp, rawhide, and sinew from various creatures."

"Let's go with the silk," Shiana replied.  "The last one was sinew, which was only kind available to me last time.  Silk somehow lasts longer on my bow."

"I imagine it would, given how silk seems to hold up better in our hot climate. I'll get you a good one. One moment, please." It took him only a few minutes to find and replace the string on Shiana's bow.

"Thank you very much." Shiana said as she watched.  "So how much will it be?"

"10 silvers. We accept any coin of roughly equal weight to our own. I'm sure you know what they look like by now." Sethlan held up a coin of his for comparison, with a dragon's head on one side, and an image of the sun on the other.

Shiana pulled out some equivalent silver coins, instead with a willow tree on one side and some elven writing on the other.  "Do these work?" she asked.

Sethlan examined the coins for a moment, feeling the weight, and checking to see if the sides had been filed down. Upon determining they were legitimate, he nodded and accepted the payment.

"Here you go. Use it well."
