Computer and Electronics / Overclocking
« on: July 13, 2009, 06:33:59 AM »
I never have, and most likely won't on my main computer - a 2.4GHz quad-core is good enough for me atm. Eventually, though, I might buy something cheap to play around with - I like experimenting with things.

Just beat Red Faction: Guerilla (loved the ending). Now, I'm working on Tiger Woods 10 - needed a change of pace from the massive levels of destruction.

Bumping because we just found a great house(technically a half duplex, but close enough) within our price range, and in the same general area of the city! If this works out, we'll have a house of our own (once it's paid off, anyways) rather than having to rent. Needs a bit of work (basement's partly finished, some painting and a couple of other mods), but we know people who can do it - all we'd need to do is pay for materials. as our realtor said, you don't normally find five bedroom duplexes for the price we're paying. Maybe I won't have to stay out of town after my operation gets done now :DD

The Fridge / Your stand on Walmart
« on: May 25, 2009, 04:22:47 AM »
I don't think that much of Walmart myself...Then again, I work at a competitor. I have friends that work there, and they seem to like it better than their experiences at the Superstore...Not sure why from what I hear from others. Personally, I won't work there or shop there - Superstore's a little bit closer for me(If I was permitted, I can walk there, though I wouldn't want to walk back with my purchases), plus higher end wages and it being a union shop(for the work part). Even with union dues, I generally don't lose more than ~$50 a check in deductions (average for me = $450ish per check with two 25 hour weeks per check).

One of the prime things that I note, from what I hear, is the time that they leave some things on the shelves - Take their French bread, for example. Our district specialist (I work in the bakery department) took a trip through the local Walmart and discovered that they dated theirs for three days, and their baguettes for five days (maybe the numbers are reversed, but it's something like that). This is for a product that sits in an open paper bag...that sort of thing should not be on the shelf for more than a day, else it ends up rock hard (I'm a closer, so I see this quite often). For us, anything in an open/perforated bag (mainly our baguettes and crusty breads) is thrown out at the end of the day. Most of our baked product is dated for two days, with a few exceptions for some of the specialty breads. I end up scanning out ~$150 of stuff every night I work...

Sound Off! / Do you play a musical instrument?
« on: May 10, 2009, 04:32:45 AM »
I can play the piano and trumpet myself. It's been quite some time since I've played either, though - at least two years, I think. Played the trumpet in school and when I was in cadets, but I don't have one anymore. Otherwise, I'd probably pick it back up and see what I could do with it. I do own an upright piano, but I can't keep it with me (at least until I get a permanent place of my own - those things are not easy to move, lol). Family's holding onto it for now.

Feeling a lot better than I have in the better part of a month - I've finally got a somewhat stable work schedule - I've been designated as the main closer, so I'm pretty well guaranteed to get 25 hours a week for some time. Yay for work

Something else that lifts my mood - I don't have to get my hip replaced right away as was previously thought. Bonus, 'cause I'm not quite ready to spend three months(most likely longer depending on what they do the other side)at my parents' place...and the longer I can wait, the longer it'll last...and the more I can work  :)

Should have seen my last attempt to cook bacon...I don't think it was even bacon anymore.

I have a five foot long catfish stuffie, as is shown in my avatar.

I also tend to over-analyze everything. I'll spend days looking for new ways to make my work easier, or the same time writing a simple forum post.

Most of what I play lately is EVE Online...It's to me like WoW is to many others.

Got Pokemon Platinum now, so I'm working on that, generally when I'm in the middle of a rather long series of jumps.

Got Guitar Hero World Tour, so I've been messing around with the drums. Not as easy as I first thought, I say. After that, maybe try and do something on Hard with the guitar...Grr fifth fret button...

Feeling awesome 'cause it's back to school for me! Going in for my entrance exam tomorrow morning (which I'm sure I'll have no problem with, if it's anything like the one I took to get into the university - I 97%'d that one). If I make it through this, I'll have an A+ certification in a year or so.

The Fridge / Coffee or Tea?
« on: January 19, 2009, 10:13:30 AM »
Neither for me. Can't stand coffee, and something about tea doesn't sit well with me. My caffeine fix comes from large amounts of Barqs root beer  :DD

Gamers Zone / 2009 Wishlist

A couple I'm waiting for:

Empire: Total War (PC)
Starcraft II (PC) (Been waiting too long for this one...)
Tom Clancy's HAWX (360)
Halo Wars (360)
Heroes over Europe (360)
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Uprising (PC - expansion pack)

These are the main ones. I'll probably buy almost everything that comes out, though, knowing me - I like adding to my collection  :DD

Me, I've been playing PokÈmon Diamond if I'm not at home, and Ace Combat 6 when I am. Finally beat it on Expert - now comes Ace, I say.

Brawl's one of my favorite group games, aside from Marioparty - one of the few that I can get a couple of people around here to play. For me, Bowser fits my style fairly well - I love to run in and pummel things, though Bowser's speed leaves much to be desired for the running department. I just love chasing people around as Giga Bowser, though  :D Though falling through a hole can end that real quick if you get too focused on your targets... Grr Green Hill and your collapsing floor section...

Other than him, I tend to play as either Meta Knight or (if I'm feeling really cheap) Pikachu, with the occasional Fox thrown in. As with almost everything, I rely fairly heavily on luck when I play, since I don't have that much in the way of skills.
