Title: Our One Year Anniversary
Post by: Petrie on October 09, 2004, 08:30:59 AM
I think what we should do is go to our archive, http://p072.ezboard.com/bgangoffive (http://p072.ezboard.com/bgangoffive) and bring out memorable messages and why they mean so much to us.

That would give us an insight to how strongly we've grown and how we feel about the series.  Any other ideas?

How did the original Gang of Five (which now is the archieve) come into existence in the first place?
I think I remember it was meant to be a predecessor of another land before time ez-board which still exists, but with little activity: http://p066.ezboard.com/bwelcometothegreatvalley (http://p066.ezboard.com/bwelcometothegreatvalley) And that page again I think was created as a place especially for LBT fans after there was a page titled The Dinosaur Dominion which was about Jurassic Park, Dinotopia and the land before time.
There have been earlier land before time ez-boards, but those had nothing to do with the later gang of five for all I know.

Not sure really, but the Gang of Five has clearly been the most active regardless of what board is the oldest. ;)

The Gang of Five has been around as long as landbeforetime.org has been on the web...they were created for each other.  Before that I don't remember what any other board might have had a connection with anymore...we're talking at least two years because that's when I first decided to register with ezboard. ;)

I would still take topics that mean something to you in the GOF archive and explain their importance...I think that sounds good for one year since we're so small--three really active members.  I don't know what became of Jojo but I don't think he likes it over here since the move.  Littlefoot I know is busy in school and he doesn't have a computer so that I can understand...but what of those that have registered but not bothered to post?  I just think a simple hurrah for surviving a year means more than enough because as we can see LBT boards don't seem to have much of an appeal for active membership. :)

I'm going to sound like John Kerry here, but I will say this...so long as those text ads at the top pay for this place and invisionfree doesn't start charging me money to stay here I will not shut this place down even if it is just me and a couple of others. ;)  The day they start saying pay up, then we can start worrying about what will happen next....until then lets enjoy the fact that there is at least two active LBT boards around and we're one of them. :)

Even though we certainly cheer over everyone who newly arrives here the Gang of three has still worked fine in the gang of five so far.

I've already sent the link to google so hopefully they'll index it shortly...if you get noticed on google, you'll get noticed everywhere. ;)  Word of mouth usually works the best.

Yup.. my web site is noticed on google but I have no idea how it got there... I've asked for notice in sapo.pt (my web host..) and they did, maybe google also "imports" pages from other search engines that are also web hosts

Was the Gang of Five actually named "Gang of Five" from the first hour or was it renamed some day? I'm not entirely sure anymore.

Yup, it always was called the Gang of Five....I didn't want anything so dull as to copy "Great Valley" or anything. ;)  That was a pretty unique name in its own right--five main characters all friends, all different species....

Okies--topic closed!!!  Time for the real one!
