My art seems to be getting more and more improved since I took on colors and various tools. =)

Wow! I wish I could handle colored pencils like that! Whenever I use them for large spaces they either end up too smooth or (more likely) unintentionally rugged.
All the leaves and the wooden structure of the tree trunk and the rack (is that the correct term of the many terms I got when looking up a translation for the "Steg" the two characters are sitting on?) look just awesome! The same goes for the shading of the characters' faces and the light effects on the water. Your water sure does look like water! There is so much I could learn from you! :yes

Thanks, man. One good piece of advice, is to have a collection of other people's artwork for style and texture references. This has become my way of doing things when it comes to doing these things.

I have a massive collection of Final Fantasy MP3's that I listen to while I work and many great fantasy style illustrations stored all in one folder. Very helpful =)

The drawing is very good.  If you continue drawing and trying to improve, even in small ways you may be surprised at where you will be in a short period of time.

for the moment, it seems like it is, but each piece is a slight improvement over the the last. By the end of the year, I may have a list of 'favorites' though.

I have a goal to atleast produce two of these pieces a week. So wish me luck, and I will update normally here with each new piece of artwork =)

...the rack (is that the correct term of the many terms I got when looking up a translation for the "Steg" the two characters are sitting on?)
Well, I personally would call it a short pier, but I'm not too sure whether or not there is a better term for it.

Picking a pace you can easily reach is a good idea.  You can do what you want without it seeming like you have to do it.

I do often wish that was the case...

When it came to my webcomics starting back in 2006, it was never easy to put forth a strip a day. It became a job, and I was very often very late.

Nowaday, its just so hard to meet the deadline, and so I'm more of a free will person in meeting any deadline...

You have to pick a pace you can meet and are comfortable with.

If you pick a pace yu can't handle, often nothing good comes out of anyways.

to both Kor and Mornai: I totally agree

new art may come today, this time I'm experimenting with paint mixed with colored pencils. should be a fun experiment =) if not a bit messy

You won't know how will you like it till you've tried it at least once, and more likely a few times.

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been making drawings like these?

I've been drawing since I was 6 years of age (or maybe even younger, according to mother dearest) and I've been heavily detailing with pencils and pens since I was in middle school

my attempt with colors started very recently (weeks prior to months) 'Just Relaxing' was my first success piece with colored pencils.

And right now, I'm working on a painted piece which so far has been a far more rewarding experience than with my pieces in colored pencils... the current work in progress makes the drawing featured in this thread look like a kindergarten and a chimpanzee did it with crayons... in short, acrylic paint looks far more superior than colored pencil =P

and to even quote my four year old nephew: "It looks like its in a movie!" a quote that seems to further my ambition.

that piece will be posted very soon... so keep your eyes peeled

painting sounds harder then using crayons or colored pencils.

I can't wait to see it :D I'm sure it will be as good as the one above, or possibly even better.
